                        I've just glued up the wings and started to look at the fuselage ..I'm still waiting for the PE cockpit to arrive ..from WEM ..

                        Quagmyre - that's looking pretty cool, not something you see every day. I'm afraid my progress is going to take a serious nosedive, vacation is over and I am back to only one or two hours per evening now. I did manage to get some primer on the fuselage last night.

                        OK, well at last I have something to show you all. As I mentioned in my first post this Walrus came with no internal detail, so I have scratch built one, hope you approve of what you see, will just mention that I have never scratchbuilt before so comments suggestions much appreciated. I am quite happy with the result and of course very little of it will be seen once I close her up! Anyway link below to photo have a look and hopefully enjoy!! Will post again when more to show.

                        That Walrus is looking very good. From the looks of your first scratch effort the model should be quite exceptional when you're done.

                        Mushroom just put out the "Supermarine Walrus & Stranraer" book, I think their part # is 6113. Chock full of pictures & details.

                        The builds that are started are looking great! As usual everyone is way out in front of me on this (or any) GB. I did however get the parts washed this morning and laid them out to dry. That’s my progress so far.

                        I reserved space on the bench in January. It was tough having only three builds going on. Not only am I working on this but am doing another 1/48 Fw-200 on commission, a 1/48 C-47 motorized and lit as Austin Airways and a Frog 1/48 Jeep. Should have Eli Raphael's 1/48 Exotic Stars sheet today so once space clears I'll be working on a couple of F-104s (yeah, I've been known to build jets).

                        The Cat is starting to take shape ...

                        The following pics (and apologies for the quality [:S]) represent the cockpit. The model (Pro Modeler) will be built OOB - with the addition of Ricks generously added Aeromaster RNZAF decals - more of those later Wink [;)]



                        I haven't detailed the seatbelts at this stage - I am still not sure whether I will include pilot figures or not yet ... that decision will occur this weekend!!

                        I have also started the inside, but have found that one of the machine gun mounts has "disappeared" - I will have to scratch- build a replacement. My first attempt at that, but the shape is quite uniform, so should be easy Smile [:)]

                        The inside of the engine nacelles are packed with tissue paper dampened with a few drops of water and adjusted with a dental pick. The rigging is .04 invisible thread.

                        Swanny I thought you said that your vacation was over now!!? It seems to me that returning to work has not slowed you down one bit!!.

                        Cossack, great looking cockpit, looks to be coming on well.

                        Update from the Walrus. She is now closed up and I have been using Swanny's Fencing technique to close up the seams-thank you Swanny. Pics below.

                        So far the build is going smoothly, for a kit that was put together in the 70's the fit and ease of build is good, very little mucking about required. There is a certain something about those old three color kits from Matchbox, not too sure what it is but its something.

                        Swanny, must be a bit of a shock working in Braille scale for a change.

                        Harrowbeer, Looks like your interior is fitting just fine - always a good thing. 1/72 is fun but I still like 1/48 and would really like to have an S-43 in 1/48. Maybe Trumpeter would make me one ... nah, they would need someone elses kit to copy off of.

                        The masks are coming off now ....

                        There is still a bit of tissue residue inside the engines that I have to get out.

                        It's hard to see from this angle but all new grab handles have been fashioned on the wing. The landing gear strut were a bit of a challenge also getting everything to sit straight.
                        We're going to the home and garden show at the IX tomorrow and the wife plans on buying a bunch of floor tile, I wonder who she plans on installing that?Confused [%-)]

                        Swanny, the Sikorsky is really looking good!

                        Sorry for not posting my own yet but it's still just the cockpit and I've beeen mullling about rebuilding the seats. Plus this weekend I've been working on the 'Mad Robot Day' build.

                        I'm working on the propellers this weekend and they are of the pre-war color scheme. What a pain these are to paint. They are base coated with Krylon Gloss black then Alclad 2 then go through a series of masks and paint to achieve the final result. Here is the first step and the last, my site update features all five steps if you want to see the whole story.

                        Swanny - Those pre-war props always seem to take so much time to do with all the masking, etc. Did the same on my Catfish prop, but it didn't come out as nice looking as yours... maybe I'll just send it to you so you can fix it for me. Big Smile [:D]
