                        work on my serian has stalled for a week but should resume shortly. I have it primed and will be sanding and seam filling over the next week. Not a whole lot left to glue together actually, since there is no landing gear to speak of.

                        Hi All,

                        Latest picture of Walrus below. As you can see nearly all assembly complete, thank the Lord!!!!

                        Engine assembly was a total nightmare, mainly because in braille scale the spars are so thin and weak that any false moves would have resulted in a breakage, fortunately I managed to avoid any of those. An additional complication was that the kit manufacturers had not allowed for the 2 degree offset of the engine assembly. This was done to compensate for engine Torque. So after some adjustments the engine assembly was done this then allowed me to fit the top wing.

                        So now some 'snagging' to do a coat of Klear and some decals and that'll be job done.

                        Man, do I feel Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid].
                        I probably read/scanned the Windsock pub a dozen times, while researching my Felixstowe & mods thereto. Well today, I was reading it again, trying to sort out discrepancies between early & late & serial numbers and also looking for more interior color info, when I spotted a second picture of Nr.4543, my target aircraft !!!! It shows the front of the fuselage & the correct paint scheme (although still no color info), so forget what I said about the Roden drawing of the forthcoming kit (which BTW Great Models is taking pre-orders for). I cannot believe I missed that picture all these times !!! Yeah, it is small, but there aren't really that many pictures either .... Oh, well at least I found it before I started painting ...

                        Wow! There's been some great progress since last time I checked in. frosty, that is a sweet looking W.29. I really like the colour scheme.Thumbs Up [tup]Harrowbeer, that is some fine work on the Walrus. Looks great.

                        As for progress on my Twin Otter float plane, there's not enough really worth posting pics of. So far, I've managed to assemble the interior, paint the fuselage halves and assemble the wings.

                        Thanks guys. As I was installing the engines on the Hercules it made me think of a time-lapse video I saw of the reconstruction/restoration of the Hercules by the museum and thought “what a great idea for a diorama.” Someday in the future I will build a “what if” Korean War Hercules and then a diorama of the reconstruction of the plane.

                        I would recommend the Minicraft kit of the Hercules for anyone wanting a fairly quick build of what I consider a very interesting subject. It fits together well and poses no real challenges.

                        You have left me in the proverbial dust in the race of the Hercs. I'm still dragging my feet scratching a cockpit. That and I have another project for a show in Shizuoka due May 14...I hate deadlines!!

                        Your wing/fuselage fit looks perfect! Did you have any trouble in that area? Dryfitting has revealed that mine will take a bit of work to get it all settled in smoothly.
                        How did all the under-nacelle intakes fit?

                        Ok I normally have a rule that I won't place an aircraft in its final scenario until it is completely finished! But kind of excited by this one so couldn't resist!!!

                        Undercarriage now fitted and most snagging complete. Still needs final touching up, Klear, some decals, its Lewis guns and I will call it done.

                        The scenario is SAR Walrus just RTB Pilot rescue mission over Atlantic. Back drop shots were taken at disused airfield from where Walrus used to fly these missions.

                        Hope you enjoy, will post final pics when complete.

                        Paint scheme is 'Temperate Sea Scheme', Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey over 'S' Type (Sky)

                        Well... maybe not. Learned a lot about how to work with resin on this one. Thought about a flat coat, but then I realized this thing was rarely used, so I went with out the flat coat and decided to diplay her as shiny and new for the Admirals... or whoever.Tongue [:P]

                        Well folks, as I feared, my general snail-like build pace has forced me to put my Herc on the back burner while I concentrate on getting my Aurora 1/48 MBT-70 finished in time for the Shizuoka Hobby Show starting May 13th. The kicker is that I'll be in the States for 2 1/2 weeks during April, so there goes all that time...hopefully I can get the MBT-70 finished quickly AND get the Herc done by May 1st!

                        Got a lot of work done on my Mariner this weekend. I've probably spent about 30 hours on her so far with about 85% of that on sanding/fitting the parts together. I'd guess that I am about 25%-30% done with the build. Once I have some spare time at home I will upload some pics, hopefully be the end of the week.
