'Course, that means that Guido's then gotta buy a Bird-of-Prey kit....Oops [oops]

Are you contradicting yourself Griff?

I see no problem with allowing a Klingon BOP in since Capt. Kirk did use oneTongue [:P] and The Federation had known of that too.

Contradicting myself?  Nope.  I agreed w/you on the KBoP - tho had added that Guido mentioned he only had a Klingon Vor'cha at the time and would have to purchase any other kit.

If you're referring to the theme of the GB comment, not doing so there, either.  The KBoP - called Bounty in the script and novelization, thus my use of that name above - would meet the criteria for a Fed ship, as you pointed out.  Any other Klingon ships, tho, wouldn't be Federation, thus not meeting that same critieria - which is what I took c_i_j's posting to mean.  That's all I was pointing out.

Ok, in the series TNG CDR Riker had went aboard a Klingon vessel for a little while on an Officers' exchange program of some sort. What Class of ship was that?

Also, DS-9 had utilized several Klingon  Vessels. not to mention were allied with them during the Dominion Wars

A Klingon Bird-of-Pray, the IKS [Something-or-other], which wasn't a Fedreation ship.  It was done in a similar fashion to what our US Military does today w/other foreign powers in the area of Officer Exchange.  My unit has had pilots from the Spanish Air Force, RAF (UK) and RAAF (AUS) in our unit in the five years I've been at Little Rock AFB.  None of the aircraft they flew on were re-flagged to be representative of those gov't's and were still USAF aircraft.

Also, DS-9 had utilized several Klingon  Vessels. not to mention were allied with them during the Dominion Wars

As far as I know, those were all Imperial Klingon Ships that had Federation officers on them.

Look, I'm not trying to get in a urinating match over the definition of "is".  Just pointing out that the title of the GB is Federation ships.  Some folks were pretty alright w/pointing out early on when it suited their needs that Cpt. Sponder was the one who started the GB so I pointed out that he should be the final arbiter as he was earlier on several decisions.  That's all I was doing - pointing out the theme of the GB - not giving other folks what they consider credible reasons to start a flame war...

Heck, I even mentioned that Guido could build his Vor'cha as a ship captured by the Federation during their brief war w/the Klingons during DS9's run.  Paint it up in Fed livery and say that StarFleet was using it, then gave it back to the Klingons when the UFP and Klingon Empire kissed and made up.  That'd work for me. Guido.. Dont sweat it mate.. As a newb, you will come to realise that some people take this whole modeling gig waaaaay too serious.. It is after all a hobby, and not real life.. If it were, I could understand sticking by rules.. As its not, then we should be allowed to have fun with it, and so bending the rules a little cant hurt.. I guess, to avoid any one from telling you different, I say stick with the BOP for this build, and have fun doing it.. I know I for one will enjoy seeing your progress, as will the others that have joined.. If you are interested in other subjects, then guys like Bud, Ed and I build basically everything.. We have another club starting up so you are more than welcome to join if you are interested.. I am sure I speak for everyone that the more the merrier...Its a big board, and a lot of nice guys, only too happy to help.. Kinda what sets this site apart from the others.. No attitudes...

Oh, and ps:  Welcome to the boards..

Heh,

Thx, but I am not "sweating it" just being proper till I know to whom I can joke with and to whom I cannot. Being a newb is hard cause you want to make friends and not step on someones toes. So that being said I will work on my BoP when I get finished with my 69 Camaro Z28 RS. I am into cars and SciFi mainly Star Trek ( "Aliens" don't like to be like everyone else ).I took a 10 year break from building models and finding it wonderful to be back at it ( when I stopped I was and still am green) . Even my kids are getting the bug. I am going to need a bigger place  to display the models, living space is overrated anyway Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic]. If yous will be willing to accept my BoP I will join up gladly, if not no hard feelings on both sides I hope.

Guido

P.S. thx for the welcome.

I've ZERO problems w/the BoP that Eddie suggested above.

As to bein' a new guy, definitely don't sweat it around here.

Here's another text update: I have started with the detail painting, some brown, beige and blue. I don't have any reference material on Star Trek so I am just using the paint instructions, the avaible paints and my own imagination. According to the paint instructions (and some of the build-up kits that I saw on the Web) this is quite a colorfoul ship. Big Smile [:D]

In my "minds eye" is all grey, maybe that's because is set against the dark depth of space instead of someone's workplace? Smile [:)]

Sounds like a plan.. I simply feel that it is mainly grey, but would have alot of weathing, so shading is something to consider.. Anyway, I know you will do a sweet job!

Hey,

I got my BoP last Fri, and have about a week or two on my car painting and buffing Sigh [sigh]. Although I have already started on the base I see there will be Alot of work to do on this kit, looks to be a fun challenge. I spent a few extra bucks to get 2 I think I will do 1 in the Attack mode and other in Cruise mode. The little work I have done on it I can show you the cloaked mode Whistling [:-^]. Talk at yas later when I can post pics and the like. I almost thought this thread was dying.

Sounds kewel on the KBoP.  You get 'em on eBay, perchance?

Ain't dead by a long shot.  Just takin' a lil' nap is all.  Big Smile [:D]

I shipped all my modeling stuff back Home a couple days back.  If all goes as planned I should be back on 21 Feb.  Give me a couple days to get caught up on the Jet Lag and time change and I'll go full tilt on the modeling.  Should be able to get at least one of the models on my initial list finished by the second week of March, if not all of them.

Hey Griff,

I got the BoP's at Hobbylinc.com for 11 bucks each. Only took 6 working days to process the order and to get to me ( not to shabby when ya want it yesterday). I do not envy you on jetlag, and moving. I suppose in order to get back to building " you do what ya gotta do". I hope your move goes smoothly.

Well......

I just couldn't wait to get to work on my KBoP. I opened it, washed all the parts. Actually waited till it dried ( Ugghh ). Had to cut the fitting pins cause on the wings didn't match up at all. Got the wings glued, WoW here comes the putty monster. The last time I built this kit it wasn't this bad, a very close friend of mine conned me out of the finished product ( my best work ever ). Well going to get back to work in a bit. Have fun guys.

Hey, just in case you didn't know, there's a wing-hinge set you can purchase from Federation Models.  Click on "Model Kits", then "Miscellaneous Models", then scroll down to "Bird of Prey Wing Hinge Kit".  A little pricey at $50, but I've seen two buildups using these and they look sweet.

Just a thought.

Griffworks,

Thanks for the info. The problem I am having has to do with the seem on the wing itself. The gaps are Ugly and prefect in other areas. So like I stated before here comes the Putty Monster hehe. Like every other modle builder out there I am going to work my tail off on this and make it the best I can. May take some time but when it is finished I will appreciate it all the more.

I haven't much to update right now, still have to do all the detail painting. I'll make some pic's and post them soon (probably this weekend) Building this Intrepid has done something else, i started playing Star Trek Elite Force once again! Nice game but a bit old.

Good to see there are other people who have some progress in their builds.

Sci-fi model are hard to find here in the netherlands, I have only got a few and I bougth them at the dutch nationals. Most modelshops over here only have the Revell Stars Wars kit's.Even the AMT kits that are easy to find in the states (according to what I read on the forums) are difficult to find over here.
