An update on Mrs. Toshi’s condition 8/25/18 (A diary of a very extreme mental test)
Posted by Toshi on Thursday, October 25, 2018 10:13 AM

To my fellow forum members,

I’ve been absent for a couple of weeks.  Please except my apologie.  Mrs. Toshi and I went to get her PET/MRI Scan.  It took this long for the Toshi’s as when we arrived to the first appointment, they scheduled just a regular MRI Scan.  So we drove 40 miles to get to Cleveland to only find out that we had to come back home.

The second time when we went, they did schedule a PET/MRI.  One small problem, nobody had it approved by her Medicaid insurance.  lol!  And of course, here we go AGAIN, turn around to drive home.  WOW!!!  How many times can you F*$# up?  All the while, Mrs. Toshi’s condition worsens, fatigue, extreme sleepyness, short term memory issues, and the inability to walk at times as she’s a fall hazard.

The third time, we went to actually get the services Mrs. Toshi needed to be completed.  It took a very long, long, time.  I sat in the waiting room watching reruns of “Friends”!  lol!  That was last week Thursday it took 7 hours!!!  On this Wednesday, we went to get the results.

Her return of the tumor mass, is gone.  Steroids shrunk the tumor.  You see, the tumor started to grow again because it was proton therapy induced.  And she is done taking anymore proton therapy session anymore.  YAY!!!  Unfortunately she has extreme swelling in her brain.  She will have to get another surgery (This is surgery number 3) it is a operation that will take 90 minutes and she’ll be in University Hospital main campus in Cleveland for 4-5 days.  A shunt will be placed under her skin behind her ear and enter the skull behind the ear and from there it goes down to drain the fluids.  Another entry way they also use is to drill a whole at the area of the excess fluid and add another shunt.  A small pump will be added behind Mrs. Toshi’s ear under the skin.  Now we have to watch out for infection and or that the shunt gets blocked.  Oh Boy, here we go again!!!  lol!

Thank you FSM Forum Members, you’ve been like a second family to me. I don’t know what to say but except “Thank you so very much”!

I know Mrs Toshi, you, and your family have been through a lot. That said, yet another surgury to make things right isn't the worse possible news.

Wishing all of you the very, very best.

Yes, thank you.  It’s about people dropping their responsibilities.  At least now I feel that we have a fantastic sense of direction.  Thank you again keavdog.

I wish you the best, Toshi. If I lived in Cleveland I'd gladly put you up, or at least give you a home base.

Hang in there, friend.

Toshi,

Prayers for your wife and you.  Is the shunt a permanent thing, or will the swelling eventually go down and it can be removed?

So sorry to hear about your wife's issues, but as has been said could be worse. Is the Cleveland Clinic not covered by your insurance?  They're one of the top hospitals in the country, on a par with Mayo and Marshfield.

Thank you GAF!  The prayers have worked as the tumor went away. The shunt will be a permanent medical device.  In 8 to 10 years, it needs to be replaced.

Toshi,

I am sorry to hear you and the missus had to go through all that!  It is good news that her tumor has decreased in size.  Keep your head up, and you know we are all rooting for both of you.

Thank you for your concerns WillysMB!  Yes, Cleveland Clinic does except Medicaid.  The issue is the it was a human error, and they apologized profusely.  The person input it the wrong code as well as the Doctors got involved to speak to the insurance employee.

Gamera, you’ve always been there for me, your prayers helped heal her tumor.  The rest is just some surgery and 4-5 days in the hospital.

I've been praying and hoping for good news....looks like you finally are getting some.  Best wishes for a rapid recovery on her part so your household can get back to normal.  You've been away from the bench too long dealing with this.  Get back to it as soon as you can, will help relieve the stresses.

Toshi - When I saw the update intro about Mrs. Toshi my heart sank a bit, afraid that it was going to be sad news. I must say I feel greatly relieved, learning that this is still very treatable and with an encouraging path forward.

Mrs. Toshi has endured a lot of uncertainty in the past several months, now things have to look brighter for you both, with the ability to continue treatments for the future.

Please accept my sincere best wishes and hope, that Mrs. Toshi will find comfort and wellness very soon. I salute you for being the shoulder for her to lean on, giving her support and love as she goes through this time. Goodness knows she has been there for you following your TBI, she paid it forward in a major way, now you can return the love and care she deserves. That's a real honor.

All the best, Alan.

Sorry Mrs. Toshi and you have had to go through so much, but I'm glad to hear the tumor is gone and you have found a direction to take to sort out the swelling.  I'm holding you and your family in my thoughts, and send my best wishes to you all.

Mark.

The good news is, for every issue that has arisen, there seems to be a solution to fix it.  Thank goodness for that! As always, your dear wife is in our prayers.

I'm sorry to hear about Mrs. Toshi I'll keep you in my prayers. As for the mix up at the hospital, my dads in the middle of his third fight with cancer and I can tell you its par for the course the doctor, insurance and the girls out at the hospital have no idea what the others are doing.

I'm glad the tumor is gone! I'll be praying for her that the third surgery goes well. I've only been having gastrointestinal issue, nothing like a tumor, but I know what it's like to be given the run around. I'll be praying for you guys. By the way, I live 2 hrs from Cleveland in Jamestown, NY. Do you live anywhere near that area? I'm trying to find modeling clubs around here, but to no avail. I don't know if you'd happen to know of any?

Glad to hear the wife is doing better. This is very hard to see a loved one go through this but things are shaping up in your favor.

Will pray for continued improvement.

Karmic energy, and good thought's headed your way.
