Sean,

Try looking at the model railway supplies. You might find some good stuff there

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

Hi Folks,

This is what I've got my H.Hurricane Mk I for the Group Build, to so far, still a bit to go. It is based on the Hasegawa kit, the tailplanes are resin.

Looks nice Rob!

J.S.
Looked at the pics on Ron's site thanks. Looks to me as if Black77 had simply been repainted at some time in Intermediate Blue which had faded somewhat . No sign of Sea Blue, so in effect it is a two tone scheme

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

Folk's,

I posted a few pages back, the information I had on the Aussie Phantom's, this photo [of my unfinished aircraft] I've posted for those who are building it, Aussie Decals are the decal set I used, the SEA Patern is adapted from a colour photo. It is the Hasegawa kit of the 'U.S Bicentenial' Phantom. I did a resin set of seats for this bird.

On another note I saw a post on an RAAF F/A 18 as flown in Iraq, are you looking at 'Gulf 2', We built one for the RAAF OTS from the following information:
F/A 18a
75Sqn
Pilot Sqn.Ldr. Guerin Admin Officer A.C.G.
27 Tophat [are the markings]
The CO's aircraft was the first aircraft across the line, accompanied by 40, 22 was the first to drop ordenance.
I have a photo of this Hornet model somewhere, when I find it I post it to this thread.

Sean, I agree with chris, model railway supplier is a good source for this sort of stuff. If you wish and give me an idea what effect you are after I may be able to find some material suitable amongst my model railway supplies that I can send you. If I can't do that I have a friendly model railway hobby shop just down the road that I could get it from.

P.S. Does anyone have the current url for the group build badge that they could post for me.

Group Build;
After much thought and consideration, decided that the group build might be better of with its own thread, one of the reasons for this it would be easier for everyone who is interested to see how it was going with out having to sort through this thread to find info on it ([:0]as I have said before when I started this thread I never expected it to become so popular[:0]).

I have started a new thread title "Aussie Group Build" in this folder today, I will try once again to have a sticky placed on it, if that does not work we will just have to post updates to the thread regularly to keep it on the front page.

I still would like to see his thread continue as it is, a contact point, a help and info site and discussion venue for modelers based here Australia. In fact let's work on keeping both threads on the front page of this folder and let the world know that modeling is alive and well down under.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Basically I'm after a turf type of ground cover.
I've read a few things about the train supplies, but be damned if I can figure it out.

Something that would render an unkept look, kinda like a golf course 'rough'.
Better still, you ever seen a hald dead lawn in someones front yard?
Thats what I'm trying to acheive, also some small shrubs.

Sorry if my explanation seems a little vague.Question [?]

the Sabre pic, that aircraft is based at Fighter World [RAAF Williamtown], it has been grounded for several years now, the decals for this bird are part of the RedRoo conversion.

Ok, how big of a wally do I feel at the moment.Tongue [:P]

Here I am languishing over the fact I cant find decent pics of an Avon Sabre.
Been searching for weeks, and have found scraps here and there, but nothing decent.

Then all of a sudden this page springs up showing a couple of decent pics.

Now I dont usually read the rubbish at the bottom of the pages, it's usually some boring dribble, but this time it stated the pic was taken at the Australian Heritage Museum, Darwin!!!!!!!!

Thats only 1500 km's north of me!!!!!!!!!Wink [;)]

Definately a day trip.

And seeing as I'll be up there in mid July for the Australian Volleyball Titles, well, I guess I'll have to pop in with a digital camera and go nuts!!!!!!!

This is just too good to be trueBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

then again, with my luck, they'd be closed for renovationsTongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]

Group Build Projects:

J.S.
I check for you on Wednesday exactly what Sabre Decals are with the REDROO conversion and speak to Gary Byk about getting some for you.

I read in this somewhere about someone intending to do an RAAF F/A 18 Hornet from Iraq, the photo I have of the bird we did for the Airforce Project is to dark [poor lighting in the School], I posted the details from the worksheet I have for their model projects, if you want more details or a couple of photo's of the model, I'll contact the school and organize to do a photoshoot of it.

Re the Amberley Airshow, A friend of mine is the XO of the Ground Defence Sqn at that RAAF Base,

Rob.

I usually have to wait till the lil' tacker has gone to sleep to surf the net, and thats around midnight oddly enoughSad [:(]

Cholic, it's a wonderful thingSad [:(]

Nice cockpit pic, but my plan is to phone them today and find out how much it will cost me to have the pleasure of crawling all over every nook and cranny of the Sabre.

Also have to check out how many aftermarket decals exist for this craft

hey tweety - I definitely recommend the Museum in Darwin. My old-man just came back from a work junket last nite. He went to the Museum (and he rode by bike - he's a cycle freak) and took heaps of digital photos. It costs $11 for adults and is opened for bout 3hrs per day (well thats whats he told me Smile [:)]). Anyway theres a B-52 (one of only 2 displays outside the US), Cobra helo, Wessex helo, 2 Spitfires (from what i could tell from the photos), a B-25, crashed wreckage from a Zero & RAAF Mirage, and a Sabre. I'm so excited that I want to go there myself just for a day-trip Big Smile [:D].

If I was taking the photos, I personally would have done a more detailed walk around picture history of each aircraft, but I am grateful for my Dad taking the shots anyway. I know these photos arent detailed enough for you, but they may jus wet your appetite!

i could of sworn that my ol'man took a cockpit photo of the Sabre - cant find the Censored [censored]!!!!

I've got heaps more of the display boards and other stuff, and a few extra of each plane, but thats enuf for now Big Smile [:D]!

enjoy!
