Could use some help guys. Doing an RNZAF Corsair and I desperately need one or two COLOUR pics of them in service because it's a nightmare trying to decypher black and white photos when there was little standardisation in the way the schemes were applied and they became terribly faded and weathered. I also need to find some good 1/48 RNZAF decals, because the set I managed to obtain turned out to be a strange shade of turquoise!!! Any help would earn my eternal gratitude!

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

Chris ive got you covered on the corsair pics
F4U-1A black77/NZ5277 RNZAF SOLOMONS 1945 ocean blue with light grey undersides [heavily weathered]
F4U1A white 315/NZ5315 RNZAF 17 SQD GUADALCANAL 1944 appears to have dark sea blue, intermediate blue and light grey undersides plate shows minimal weathering and camo pattern is standard US 3 tone.
Black 77 is interesting it has various kill markings and bomb tallies,9 large bombs 11 small bombs 9trucks and 8 ships it also wears an irate Donald duck emblem,RNZAF roundels were placed directly over previous US markings.[nice subject]

Chris thanks for the info on posting pics ill give it a go.
[PS] Cant post the corsair plates up yet because i need to scan them from books should be getting a scanner this week so please be patient im what you would call computer illiterat.
As far as decals go my only suggestion would be maybe Aeromasters or grab a copy of Modelart and ring around.
Hope ive helped you mate J.S.

Thats great JS!! Actually, the decals I have include a set for Black 77 I think so if I can just find some national insignia to replace these strangely coloured ones!!! Let's hope the scanner works ok!!! Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D] You could well be a lifesaver there! Bow [bow]. The really annoying thing is that the old Frog Corsair in 1/72 included a very nice set of RNZAF decals. Now why is it so difficult to get them in 1/48 in this day and age?????? (are you listening Mr Decal Manufacturer??????????)

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

ILuv3ggs,
I know what you mean it's even more spectacular to watch that little black spot in the distance approach rapidly from over the sea at Evans Head Range, grow to its normal size as it drops it's bomb and then disappear into the distance, [:0]usually before the bomb hits the ground[:0].

Aussie Group Build

To offically start the Aussie group build, here are the rules.

2004 Aussie Group Build Rules

1. The group build is open to Aussies, Kiwis and adopted Aussies regardless of where they reside. Modellers may join the group build at any time providing that they believe they can complete their model by the 30 Oct 2004.

2. The model can be of any scale and is to be from one of the following classes;

a. Any military vehicle, aircraft or ship that has been or is currently in service with the Australian Forces. Must have Australian Markings.

b. Any civilian vehicle, aircraft or ship that has been or is currently in use within Australia. Must have Australian corporate or private markings. In the case of touring cars on the australian circuit, team markings will be accepted.

c. Any Fiqure providing it is of an Australian Subject.

3. The completion date for the group build is 31October 2004. Start is 10 May 2004.

4. Modellers may post photos of their model at any time, this includes progress photos. Photos of models completed after the completion may still be posted.

5. This current thread will be used for the group build.

This group build is to be all about enjoying modelling, sharing with other modellers and showing the rest of the world that modelling is alive and well in Australia. To assist with this please feel free to post photos of your model in the appropriate subject folder highlighting that it was built for the Aussie Group Build.

Also could all those taking part declare the model or models they are building in this thread or email me to let me know and I will keep an up to date list that I will post on a regular basis (this is so we don't have to go sorting though all the back pages looking for it)

Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

j.s., to get your pics to show up, you need to have them hosted by someone.

Meaning, you goto someones server, and upload your pics there.
A server has been organised and generously donated by a gentleman named Ron George.
The URL is
rongeorge.com/modules/Gallery

From here you goto login
Username- newfsm
Password -models

Upload your pic to the required area, and after the upload screen finishes, your done.
Then you find your pic, right click on it's image, select properties, highlight and copy the url.
Then comeback here, write up your post as usual, then select the image icon in the Format bar.
It's the 11th one along.
between the 2 img words, insert your copied url, and your done.

Also, anyone know where our Aussie Group build tag has gone??

Vic Hobby Centre only has an email, they would not pay for someone to up date everything everyday, the email is directed to the Owner's Home and not the Shop.
The owner is ex RAAF and an expert on the RAAF Mirage and a few other things in that era, but he only apears in the shop 4 days from 12.30 in the afternoon.

The only pic's I have of the Aussie Sabre are the Prototype [now at Point Cook] a black and white photo of A94-101 in flight and a formation shot of 4 aircraft and two shots of the Malayian AF after we sold them, these photo's are from the RAAF themselves.

Hope it helps
Rob.

yeah - the picture you used was deleted cos I ''uploaded" a new copy. Just use the URL Address off my GB pic, as this is the New address. Like I said, once RonUSMC changes this pic's address from the "Upload" file to another permanent file, the address will change, and therefore we'll have to find it again (and that will be the last time). I take it u boys r happy with it? (because I havent had time to finalise the other ideas of GB logo's that I toyed around with).

Thanks fpr the rundown Tweety i went to the site and stopped dead in my tracks by my own lack of computer skills, the same thing happened when i went to photobucet that Chris sent.
Its obvious that i will need to get a computer guy in here to show me from step1 to finish.

Thank God my modeling skills are much better than my computer skills.

Well Chris it looks like you will have to give up Zzz [zzz]sleepingZzz [zzz] and build two models at the same time.

ILuv3ggs you'll have to give it up too by the sounds of it.

There ya go j.s., looks like you got the hang of it.
But take note, if you want to display multiple pics, you can either have them side by side, or on top of each other.
Difference is, making your URL's flow onto one another will produce side by side
ie- img http/blahblahblah img img http/blahblahblah img

For one on top of other you place your URL's on top of each other
ie- img http/blahblahblah img
img http/blahblahblah img

Confused ya more huh?

Evil [}:)]tweetyEvil [}:)]Over the last couple of days youve had me as confused as i could ever hope to be.Wink [;)]
[PS]Thanks for helping.Big Smile [:D]

Ok fellas i was thinking about the GB today.
RE: Uploading pics im all for putting them in this thread, but i was thinking we could post a new topic in the General Discussion titled,
AUSSIE GROUP BUILD PICTURES,and in the first post add a link back to this thread on whatever page they will be on,by OCT we could be up to page 50.
EXAMPLE.
to veiw Goup build rules click here
http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?page=14&TOPIC_ID=11142
And that will take you to the page South Aussie put the drafting of the rules in.
I just thought it would be easier for the Whole FSM community to veiw our pics.
And it will give us an idea of how many veiws we get.
[PS] we'll just have to make sure the topic remains on the front page of the GMD.

That sounds sensible, in fact those rules could be cut and pasted to be the first entry in that new thread.

OK, I'm no chopper guru, but that looks an awfull lot like an apache crossed with something hideous.

It's not gonna be another Collins class scenario is it?

As if it's not bad enough that were buying Abrams.
Yes a damn good tank, no denial there, but the amount of fuel they guzzle, and the open landscape in Aus, and the lack of service stations, well, you get the point.

Hey all, just wondering if someone here has some info on diorama accesories.

I'm building a diorama to suit a Panther G tank, and need some stuff that resembles grass to place on the ground.
I've already got some long grass and some underbrush sorta stuff, but something that resembles real grass I can't seem to find.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all

Sean
