Chris JH666,

G'day,
That's the same kit I did a review for ModelArt Australia, some time ago, the RedRoo decal I did was the Extra Dark Sea Grey Olive Drab over Neutral Grey, looked strange but effective, model currently on loan to a museum. It's a nice kit and builds realy well.

nicholma,

G'day,

The chev is 95% scratch built, I did the resin wheels, for this project, the base kit was the Tamiya LRDG Chev. This model belongs to a friend, I entered this in the recent Melb model expo on his behalf. It's all done from origianal orders and measurements of the real thing. This friend is currently scratch building the F 60 L 'Blitz' AIF truck. He calls himself Mr Roo and is a staff member of the Armorama forum.

finally picked up some Pledge-One-Go from Woolie's for 5.25. There was a bottle of Long-Life for 3.75 (dunno about that - should be all the same). Anyway, got home, and cleaned some clear parts (scrap ones of course), and started slowly dipping. Not bad on first impressions. I'll have to wait sometime (48hrs) for it to fully dry. Is dipping or spraying better for a/c canopy's?

Bob (see post below) I'm using Swannys FSM article & website http://www.swannysmodels.com/Tools.html as a practice.

Can't wait :D]

Luke,

Just dip the canopy in the Pledge slowly about 3 or 4 times to avoid air bubbles and then let it sit on a paper towel for about 24 hours to let it dry.

Luke, after dipping your canopies, and placing them on some paper towel, PLEASE remember to cover them with something.

Ice cream container (void of ice cream of courseWink [;)]), or anything else similar, so no dust or stray hair falls onto the surface.

If dust etc does fall onto it, then more dipping in Pledge will remove and recoat all in one hit.

I have a small clear container set aside on my bench that is ALWAYS upside down, this gurantees me of a dust free drying area for all my clear parts.

I even dip all the landing lights etc, so I can CA them into place.
I also CA my canopies after they have been Pledged. They are the last things I attach to my models, and at this point I'm just too anxiuos to finish, and CA is faster!!

Lobbie, thanks for that. I liked the model and as its largely scratch built its even more impressive.

Any more hidden around somewhere?

G'day guys,

Thought I would pop in and say hello. I'm 39 married with two lovely daughters, live in Melbourne and have been modelling again for a few years after short twenty year break.

My main modelling interest is 1/48 aircraft (mainly WWII) with a few 1/35 armour kits thrown in for variety. I have also been known to churn out 1/72 armour kits by the dozen as a bit of tension breaker during a long project.

I have a question regarding lube for an ab which tweety1 suggested I post here, which is what sort of lube, superlube or needle juice should I use on my ab needle and were can I get some from?

BTW, I tried out both Pascoes and One Go floor polish on a test wing painted with Tamiya Acrylics the other night. Pascoes caused severe paint runs whilst the One Go was great. I will be giving this a go on my next project.

Cheers
Darren

just went to the Aviation Museum here in Bullcreek, Perth. Really cool - Lanc, Canberra, Ansons, Macchi's - just to name a few. I went with my father, and spent so long there, I can't remember when I arrived Wink [;)]. Got heaps of pics, and here's one of me next to somethin special!

Also I got Osprey's ANZAC's in Vietnam book. It's fantastic, and highly recommended. It also adds to my ever-growing Aussie Army collection Big Smile [:D]. here's a link to a review of the book. Got it for 33 bucks Wink [;)].

Just for a change away from a/c or the armed forces here is a poor photo of Makinen's Evo4 from the 1997 Rally of Australia of 1997 in whaich he finished 2nd, 6 seconds behind McRae's Subaru. Its a Hasegawa kit with Studio 27 decals built OOB.

yeah - got the Pham SAS book, but it's the 1st Ed without the East Timor chapter!

and regarding the July issue of FSM. I've been buying this mag for the last 4years, and in that time I have never-ever seen a July issue in any of my town's newsagencies or in Perth aswell. I don't know if it's just Perth or to do with end of fiscal yr stuff, but I've never-ever laid hands on one Big Smile [:D]

Shame. I got my July issue weeks ago. Its the D-Day special which I thought a bit average. There is no June nor August issue.

Nicholma,

In answer to your question of what is 'lying round the place', well 54 complete and 20 incomplete at home, 48 in shop display, 4 on loan to the RAAF and 28 on loan to a museum. One of my American friends suguested I put them all on the floor and post the photo on the forum, under the title of 'LOTS".

134 eh Rob.

Something tells me, for a photo, you will need a warehouse and a crane!!

Or hire Hubble for a minute or twoSmile [:)]Smile [:)]

Thats definatly "LOTS" Lobbie...Looks like iv'e got some catching up to do,Iv'e finished 3
and have a further 4 on the go..Regrettably none of my earlier models survived the 5 or 6 year break from modelling.
Regarding the Hubble you may well be able to hire it,Nasa announced a few months back that there will be no more maintinence flights to the Hubble,so it will only be a matter of time before it Dies.
And yes it will be replaced by a newer and better Space Telescope but not for a few years yet.
I left a little post in the Space forum yesterday regarding 2 new PLANET FINDING Spaces Telescopes...To date over 100 Planets have been found around other suns.

Guy's,

There's almost 500 in the wardrobe, yet to be built, that are mine. There's almost 50 that belong to contract builds. I think I would be better with a warehouse.
