I just lay buyed Classic Airframes 1:48 Wyvern kit which will set me back $88. Expensive but worth the cost I feel.

Mind you, Trumpeter are releasing Wyvern's in both 1:48 and 1:72 over the next year as well. I am sure it will be an interesting comparison.

cheers

Mike

I've just taken the plunge and bought Aussie Armour's all-resin M-198 155mm Howitzer. Has anyone bought/built this? Are there any problems? From first glance, it looks like a great kit, nice big chunks of resin. Can't wait to start! (as soon as I finish my GB kits)

I just received a nice stash of resin for the G-10. It's very dangerous having a kit sit on the shelf too long, I just keep buying extra bits & pieces - it'll take about a year to build once I start.

The new bits are Eagle Editions, the corrected spinner, the corrected drop tank & ETC rack, the corrected battery box. Oh, and yet another set of decals. It's all beautifully cast resin with excellent instructions.

Jules when you're right you're right. I am a bit of a resin junkie and Ultracast is my favourite brand by a country mile. I do use other pieces as well, True Details, Cutting Edge, Black Box, Aires & CMK, it just depends on what I'm modeling.

Cheers
Darren

Hmmmm CMK, i've been meaning to ask you about the Merlin for the ICM Spit8.......

Mike

we did look at that and it was a bit expensive.

I would love to get a patch made up. Might raise that at the March Committee meeting!

Just to open another line of discussion, "How many of our Aussie Modellers belong to a modelling Club?" This is really to satisfy a curiosity I have.

No clubs. Just a sad lonely modeller. Disapprove [V] Would like to one day.

Cheers

No need to be lonely in Adelaide outback, there a club based at the Adeliade Airport so when you are ready let me know and I pass on more info to you.

Tanx for the offer. Given we're heading 'round Oz in a couple of months it doesn't seem worth it. We don't know where we'll end up living next.

I'm kinda on again off again with the AMMS club, mainly because of work commitments and secondly the members are mainly an all Armour crew and i'm kinda into wingythingys the mostThumbs Up [tup]

Jules, know the feeling, I am mainly a fiqure and armour modeller in a club that has a large percentage of wingythingys modellers, but I am working on bringing a few over to the Darkside (armour that is).

I don't own an Attachmate or Hold 'n' Fold but from everything I've heard they are great. I simply just don't use enough PE to justify it. I'm more of a resin freak if you know what I mean.

Cheers

Man! PE City. I have the 4" Hold 'n Fold & it's invaluable, you're mad not to have something like it. You can get these from IR Models (NSW coast): http://www.irmodels.com/. Hold 'n Fold comes in different sizes which is handy, although you might need the big guy for your stash. I got a set which includes the Hold 'n Fold, a set of rollers (various sized dowel + an aluminium rack w. matching troughs) & a few bits of black acrylic. The latter are great for cutting etc & not losing bits, although you may as well get your own cut at the local supplier.

Please keep us posted w. progress pics, I'd love to see how the WEM stuff turns out.

Mike, I have an Etchmate. I'ts a great tool and if you can cop the price (expensive) it will be a godsend for what you are about to tackle. In saying it's expensive I am also a firm believer in that you get what you pay for and the quality of that tool is superb, it will last a lifetime if looked after and will serve you well on any complicated folding job. Mind you it will take a little practice in use, same as any tool.

Cheers...Snowy Thumbs Up [tup]

Apparently they had to confirm from Western Power that there was power problems in the first place , not too sure if they claim the money from western power or the insurance company pay for it them selfs.

The first time I looked at the PE it looked a bit frighting what have I got myself into I'll be picking your brains on this one guys if you don't mind..

Has anyone tryed the etch-mate is it any good and is it worth buying..

cheers mike

ensure that you have well equiped tool box with you
ensure that you have the required paints as you might find that the ones you want will not be available where you stop.
Have a storage box for all your gear so you can keep it all together while moving.

Tanx for the insight. I'll be caravanning for quite a bit of the time so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. We're off-roading for about 3-4 months so I think I'll take up reading during that part of the trip given the damage potential.
