                        I'm not a member of any club at the moment. There's none in my area. I'd like to join a club one day, but not just yet. I'll have to do some investigating and see where the closest one is.

                        I'm not a member of a modelling club.

                        Currently there is no model club in the Albury/Wodonga area though I am trying to start one with the Air Force Cadet unit I am with. There is also talk of trying to start a club in Albury, but it has been a while since i've heard anything from that.

                        To start this discussion rolling. I am a member of the South Australian Plastic Modellers Association. In the past was also a member of the ACT Scale Modellers.

                        Now a question: I've been given a 1/72 Hasegawa F/A-18A Hornet for my 18th. Can anyone give me any 'heads-ups' on any little problems regarding fit, gaps, etc. Also, I'm going to build it as a 3 Sqn. Hornet from the early 1980s with the Cobra's Head decals. Does anyone know which paints are the closest to matching the actual colours of the Hornet?

                        I have found that bean bag beans are a good storage medium for aircraft and cotton wool is good for figures. My models have survived travel all over australia in this way with only a little breakage.

                        Shane, been there done that during my time with the RAAF, fiqures are a good subject for this type of life as they do not occupy much space but do require protection whilst on the move to prevent damage.

                        Some of the things I learnt was;
                        ensure that you have well equiped tool box with you
                        ensure that you have the required paints as you might find that the ones you want will not be available where you stop.
                        Have a storage box for all your gear so you can keep it all together while moving.

                        Tks for the info on the stores Wayne. Military Hobbies is my "favourite". They're very friendly and helpful and I can usually find something of interest on the shelf. I've been to SA Hobbies but that's it. Opening hours are the best as well.

                        I wonder if the folks at FSM would think about an Aussie forum. It would make life here a little easier.

                        Ahhh! I've been thinking about one of those myself. You know how it is when you made a particular model as a kid, always seem to retain a soft spot for it.

                        Testors do have a limited edition out in 1/48 although I don't know anyone bringing them into Oz. There's also a 1/72 by Eastern Express, whoever they are (Russian company) which Frontline have listed.

                        Actually working on my Hawk. I want to get that nailed for the GB ASAP. I have most parts glued up and will start painting the cockpit so I can glue the fuselage together in a couple of days. When done I will get cracking on the BA Falcon. I need the Hawk article please. Can you scan and send to me at your earliest convenience?

                        I'll let you know this week when we can do the BBQ.

                        John, under the Modeling Subjects Heading on the forum you will find a section titled Group Builds (GB), it's here that a bunch of people get together and build within a given timeframe to a particular theme. The Aussie Group Build is on again this year and is really worth checking out, we all had a ball last year.
