Does anyone know where I can get some letter decals from I want to make up the code RB-E It belongs to the sunderland mkIII which flew in the RAAF 10 squadron which was shot down at bay of biscay . they look like they are in a dull red colour and they are about 19mm high . also the serial number DV969 in black they are about 3mm high , I want to replace the box ones which is for a Canadian plane .The sunderland is 1/72 ..
I also can't see the top turret on this plane did some sunderland have them removed .Question [?]
Any help much appreciated..

cheers mike..

I stumbled upon this site which is a handy reference. You'll find sections listing aircraft pix plus drawings & decals available from various makers for the various southern hemisphere air forces (generally recent stuff - jets - only).

Mike J

I think you might be right about a new census, I lost count after about the third or fourth page, wasn't prepared for popularity of this thread, thought it would die after about 5 pages or month, never expected to reach the number of pages its at now or still be going over a year later.

Maybe we do something like the group build and place a list containing the info suggested by Mike B on page 1 and keep it updated.

I'll throw my name up here.

I'm Stuart from Melbourne grew up making spitfires and the like with my uncle.

Started modeling Tamiya bikes and cars for something to do when i quit smoking about 6 years ago after a long time away. Had a large collection of Bikes mainly but my ex got custody of them for some reason.

Anyway... I'm into 1/35 Choppers now... and about to get into 1/35 figures. Can't wait i love a challenge.

Jules, if that is not a bar fridge, your uboat is going to be very big. Have you worked out where you are going to display the completed model I only ask this as Im still trying to workout how and where I will display the Leopold & Morser when I complete them.

Jules,

Check out http://www.warshipmodels.com/~SteveNuttall/UBoat-set.jpg - maybe useful for your current build? Don't know what scale but they look nice.

My goodness that cockpit looks nice BB.

Jules I'm in envy of you commencing your U boat. I was reading Great Scale Modelling 2005 the other day and one of their profile sections is on a diorama builder, one of the featured ones being the 1/72 Flower class corvette in a dry dock. Just fabulous, keep an eye out for a copy and check it out.

There is also a very nice detailed Sabre which you guys who have built such beasts would appreciate. I did find one glaring error in the text for one picture of the Bob Jane T-Marts Porsche 956, it says that Bob Jane T-Marts are a "retail clothing line sponser"Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Well fellas i figured i'd keep you posted with this U-Boat build so here is a pic....
All i have done is open up the drain holes in the hull by sanding them out from the inside, i still had to spend a couple of hours cleaning them up with a file but i reckon it was easier than drilling and filingThumbs Up [tup]
