The only decals that comes close that I've found so far are from AeroMaster 1/48 the only problem is that they represent a plane AK461 I don't think this was piloted by a Aussie , well according to the ADF web site there is a AK462 , I haven't found any other pics of an aussie P40-MKIIB as yet but still looking..there is a book called hurricanes over tobruk By Brian Cull with Don Minterne , it is concerned with the role played by the Hurricane squadrons in the defence of Tobruk. All of 3 Squadron's , Hurricane operations are included, and there is much material from the diary of John Jackson. A fine record. if you can find it I'm sure it will give you some good info on the aussie planes .
I did find this review by some some one for the AK461 , here's a link to it http://modelhangar.virtualave.net/tomahawk.htm

We will catch up to them in no time.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

To catch those Filipino's all we need is some conversation starting statements. Such as:

Do Queenslanders learn to play Rugby league badly? Or are they born that way?

I know that'll get Jules talking anyway.Whistling [:-^]

BTW, thanks for the help with my questions fellas. Now all I've got to do is find some generic RAAF decals (roundels, codes and stencils etc) and I have a subject for the GB. Anyone know where I can get these?

Thanks.

Pingtang, the only change between the P-40 B&C is the addition of improved equipment such as the provision for a belly drop tank and internally sealed fuel tanks. As far as I know there are no visible differences in the airframe.

Check out the following link for some pics

I've had a look at the site that mgbriggs mentioned and found this:

http://www.adf-serials.com/aa12.shtml

Now, the kit I have is of a Tomahawk Mk.IIA. I might be able to convert it and build one of the Mk.IIB's used by 3 sqn RAAF. Does anyone know where I might find some photos of these aircraft? And were there any major changes between Mk.IIA and Mk.IIB Tomahawks?

Thanks again.

G'day chaps.

I have a question for all of you fine fellows. Did the RAAF ever use P-40B kittyhawks? I know they used later models but not sure of the B model. The reason I'm asking is, I bought trumpeters kit the other day and I suddenly realised that I might be able to do it for the up coming Aussie GB. Otherwise I'll do it in the RAF desert scheme.

Thanks.

What's with the Hawkeye website? The only military stock links they have on their homepage are US, 1/144 & choppers - where's the good stuff? I know they have loads of RAAF & RNZAF 1/48 product because it's listed on the Snowy Mts site but I can't find it.

G'day Fellas,
I joined this site a long time ago but have not been back until now. I spend all my time on the Scale Auto site!
I'm from Melbourne (Scoresby) I started in the hobby building aircraft and do so to this day. Got bored with what was on offer in kits so I branched out into scratch building. Haven’t finished anything yet but I am working on a 1/24 DAP Mk 21 Beaufighter.
In the works (At drawing plans stage) is a 1/24 CAC Mk 12 Boomerang, and if all goes well with that a larger scale one in the future. Also looking at a big Seafury?
I am Ex Army and not working anymore after an accident, VA pays my way now!
Loved the Army and miss it, many years in SF and other arms corps units.
Cant afford to restore my own aircraft so I do the next best thing, I build my own cars, currently building a 1928 Model A Ford roadster pickup Hot Rod.
Still build the occasional kit aircraft tho not many, working on a superdetaild OH6 in 1/87 scale, I like little kits!
As someone else said, I’m hopelessly addicted to building models, not finishing them, just building!
Cheers,
Doc.

I still have not got my two bottles yet!

I just applied 6 decals onto my Zvezda 1:72 Ka-27 ASW heli. Now having read that the decals from Zvezda are really sad, I used Microsol decal film, applied with a brush and they went on beautifully with no silvering. A couple of applications with Aeromaster Sol II and they even look painted on now, snuggling down over every rivet and bump!

If you have not got that decal film from Microscale, get it!

Recommended!!

cheers

Mike

Tamiya decals are terrible, you should be able to get some decent aftermarket, including perhaps NM RAAF ones from Hawkeye

cheers

Sign - Oops [#oops] sorry nenad infront of the [/img]..Ashamed [*^_^*]

not sure of what you mean mike its there , if you are talking about the link its in the top left corner after you open it..

The P51-D mustang decals which came with the tamiya kit they seam to wrinkle . it looks like I'll have to change to a different type decals OOB ones . So now that means the paint will have to be changed to suit the new decals-Bummer..Boohoo [BH]

I wanna know if there is anything I DONT have for this kitSmile [:)]Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]

Now you're making me work, hmm!
All Eduard -
1. The Bf-109G/K Acess & scribing templates (that's the one that scares me, lots of routing)
2. Detail set for H/G G-10
3. Hartman camo masks (not sure what I'll use for the finish yet)
4. Both the large & small brass blotch masks + the wing large blotch masks (may not get used)
5. A bunch of general Luftwaffe express masks, seatbelts & gunsights (in case I prefer them to the ones that come in the detail set)

I don't think there are pictures of Hartman's G10 although one could probably assume it looked pretty close to his K series livery. I'd like to go for a green scheme blotch finish though as I've never done one of those. I've got an Aeromaster decal set for the K's which I'm thinking of combining with the Hartman masks, pending some subject research, or I may just combine it with the kit decals (ie use the stencils & spinner).
