Wasn't aware of this site, thanks for the info, will check it out asap.

No it isn't Shoalwater Bay fortunately, its High Range Training Area just north of Townsville. And yes it is getting a bit scary with all this Navy talk.

Feeling a bit out-numbered Dave!

Would we be talking Shoalwater Bay for the ARVM pic?

to many pussers here I reckon :)
Posted by harvs73 on Monday, June 14, 2004 7:04 AM
Too many pussers here at the moment :) so i thought I might add a few army diorama ideas. The Blackhawk/Kiowa is from when I was in Timor and the ARVM is from an ex in NQLD.

The M 1 Abrams which is the latest acusision, by Australia as a Leopard replacement there are several kits of that on the market.

Rob.

I've transfered this from the Aussie GB thread, cos it's better placed here.

What Armor do our boys use over in Iraq?
And Whats the new Aussie Design/Built 'Bushmaster'?

Trev,

The Firestorm link you showed me to have a look at of the M 113 APC, has several bits missing, to make a Vietnam era Aussie APC, with the T 50 turret.
let me put a few things together as I have several bits, for these vehicles.

Rob.

note: I'll edit this later today.

Morning all,

Just thought I'd do a quick post to keep us up on the front page. More work on the MkII Merkava today. Currently working on the turret. Have fun whatever you do!

Trev,

Which model expo, did you get the firestorm conversion from ?
Do you intend to do a Vietnam era with this model subject ? or a post 1975 version.

There is a monograph book (or even two) about "Boomerang" and "Wirraway" - the only problem is that the language is exotic (it means: Polish) for you - with only some English translations. If you want it anyway, I will try to find them for you. Please contact me on my e-mail (goria@lodz.msk.pl). BTW - I'm also a big fond of "Boomerang" !

Tried emailing you Aleksander, but for some reason it was playing up and wouldn't let me. If you have any books out there which are mainly photographs, the more detailed the better, then I might well be interested. If any are in English that would be a nice bonus!!!!!! Big Smile [:D]

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

Lobbie thanx

I have to admitt that i know nohing about this vechicle as it operated in vietnam. I saw the kit cheap and then at mdel expo saw the firestorm conversion set. so my knowledge of the subject is nonextictant. It good that you can interprute want i'm trying to say. If you could do something for the callsigns for this kit for me that would be great. I really appreciate the help

Would you PLEASE lay off solicitors!! They do all the hard work and get about 10% of the Estate Agents who do bugger all. If a solicitor has charged $300 for a letter go to the Law Society and put in a fizzer! Or change solicitor.

Sorry Dai i don't mean to be overly critical of solicitors just venting some frustration,it seems to me that when you sell a house and start building a new one theres a big long list of people standing there with there hands out.

Trev,

I understood what your were saying about Firestorm, it's the Tamiya kit you have, what I was asking is are you doing a Vietnam or Timor M113 APC, in vietnam our callsigns were white, the tac signs were yellow over red, in Timor both tac signs and callsigns are black, the jerry can holders that sit on the rear idler wheel guards are not the one the Aussies use, I can help with the decals and that's why I was asking.

Anybody doing the RAAF Hawk for the Aussie GB

'Tojo Buster's' Hudson IIIa is kaput. A couple of windows got Tweezer Launched.

Bob, your ex Navy, I'm ex Cav, but try Hobby HQ [the one in Melbourne] and Willy might be able to get the Dragon kit for the Aussie Navy ship kits, or put a few ideas for you.

Love the name Aussi-leksander!!! No doubt Chris will be in touch!

Luke, White Ensign have both the Kormoran and Sydney in 1/700 in resin I believe for around 50 pounds each. Haven't been able to chase up a local supplier yet.

Trev,

Your converting the Tamiya M113 ACav, by fitting a T50 turret, to it, as that used by our Cav Units, with white callsigns, the tac signs for Vietnam are hard to get. Send me an email and I'll put something together for the tac signs. When in Vietnam those vehicles were painted French Artillary Green [not the US Olive Drab]. If it's the Tamiya one don't fit the the rear jerry can holders or the engine, supplied in the kit as it's a V8 petrol, ours are V6 Diesel, if you had the Academy M113 APC Vietnam, it has both the T50 turret and the V6 diesel engine.

No problem j.s., but the Spit they have is a replica, not a rebuild.
So I'm not sure how accurate the struts will be, and they have it fenced off, but I'll see if they will let me lie down on the floor and get some good pics.

At the moment the planned trip is still for 16th July, so fingers crossed.

As u know, there aint 350 WWII RAN ships, but 1/700 is the next best thing.
Combrig Model Warships is a company that has produced or will produce specific RAN WWII ships.
Kit No. HMAS Canberra, Australian Heavy Cruiser - 1928 Now Available
Kit No.70292 HMAS Australia, Australian Heavy Cruiser 1928 - With HMAS Canberra, the two Australian County Class Cruisers. Coming Soon 2004

I've seen/heard that they are releasing the Sydney & the German HSK Kormoran, in separate & combined kit releases. I'm trying to find the webpage (LOL).

Hey Tweety is the museum the one that has the Spit 8 in it,if so could you take a couple of shots of the wheel struts for me.

Okay the 1/72 scale type V11c U-Boat should be in my posseision by the end of the week after a long layby of 2 weeks and i'm planning on starting it straight away[with much eagerness] i'll be taking some pics for the Sub GB of the boxed model so i'll stick one or two up in here just so you guys can see the size of this beast.

Getting back to Aussie ships,i know there is 1/700 kits of Aussie Warships out there but i don't seem to be able to build little ships.
What i really want is the WW11 Cruisers Canberra and the Sydney in 1/350.
and lets not forget the AE11 in 1/125.Keep dreaming.....

I got a ship building bug after seeing all the fantastic models at the QLD maritime museum,Not to mention the HMAS DIAMONTINA a WW11 Frigate in drydock, almost fully accesable to the public.
