What is really missing in commercial aircraft is a Ford Tri-motor in any scale.  I think 1:72 is the ideal scale for a plane that size.  The Revell kit is 1:77, a weird scale that precludes replacing the poorly detailed kit engines with resin ones, or the Airfix 1:72 which is almost unbuildable- the struts do not position the nacelles correctly, and that plane has such a complex set of nacelle struts/lg struts that correcting them is extremely difficult.

 

I agree. Even in 1/48...even though I'm all about 1/72 these days). I know there a couple JU-52s out there...why not the tri???

OHHHHHHHH thanks for the head's up Bruce!!! I bought a couple of Gundam kits to build up as some of the Jaegers mentioned as being destroyed before the movie. I'd love to have some kits of the 'real' ones!!!

What would I like? More 1/35 injection plastic NATO/Western mid Cold War era AFVs. The tanks are mostly covered, but APCs, SP guns, armored & scout cars, etc. are either non existent or done in very old kits in 1/35 injection plastic. Trumpeter has gone all out on Soviet stuff from that era. But their adversaries still have large gaps in the  collection.

Funny, I haven't seen it on HLJ, where I normally look for stuff like that. I think I'm going to be scrapping up the cash for one now! 

Haven't read through all of this thread, so I may be repeating...

Seems like every German truck and a lot of Russian trucks from WW2 are modeled. But we don't have enough good models of all of the Allies varient models. For crying out loud, I can't believe that an Allied Ambulance hasn't been in production for YEARS. Mirror models seems to be trying to fill the gap, but I'd like to see others get in to the WW2 truck market.

The CCKW had a ton of varients based on a large Van body. I believe there are some resin conversions out there, but I'd think there'd be one all plastic kit that could cover a ton of varients: surgery van, engineers van, mechanics van, etc.

I would like to see a Convair B-36 in 1 4/8th. It would make a wonderful center-piece on the dining rooom table....

Put halogens in the landing gear wells or the bomb bay and it could be a chandelier.

I just watched "the Perfect Storm " for the 12th time (I own the DVD) and I sure would like to see models of the Andrea Gail and the Hanna Bowden long line fishing craft to build.

Well it is time for a 1/48 SR-71/A-12 accurate Blackbird. My Monogram SR has had a rough life and I didn't do it justice at the time. Not only that, I need it with gear down for my museum. What an important historic aircraft of the time.  Just wishin'.

Fishing boats don't do much for me... except maybe the Russian Trawler in "The Final Countdown"... "Forrest Gump's" shrimping boat (Jenny) would  be a fun one to build... 

But what really impressed me in "The Perfect Storm" was the PJs and their HH-60... gotta build me one of those one day.

The good old North Sea Trawler is enough for me.

But it's true, commercial ships don't get enough attention.

      I just got interested in fishing boats while watching GM do justice on a fireboat hull to turn it into a "Fishing Boat".  A kit like that would leave a lot of room for personal expression.

    There are plenty of 1/700 Ca's but the Brookln class Cl's are only available in resin. I would like to see a Philadelphia or Boise as well as the Helena and St Louis variation.

     Also would like to 2nd the nomination for the old SR-71 1/48 kit.  I too had one but gave it away.

     How 'bout more Pirate ship kits?  (Just Kidding.)  I believe Revell released a 1/150 Black Pearl in September.  Was this on someones list?

I've probably said it before here, maybe, but I'll say it again: My dad was a flight instructor at Enid Army Air Field for a year and a half before being sent to B-29 transition training in January 1945. Therefore, I'd like to see an injection molded BT-13/15 Valiant in 1/48 scale, the airplane he instructed in. And since I am in trainer-mode, I'd like to see (in 1/48 scale), a PT-19 and a Kinner powered PT-22. Three significant trainers that have sadly been overlooked by kit manufacturers. All of those P-51 and P-47 aces had to start somewhere.

Those would be awesome. 

An Escort carrier ( preferebly the Bouge ) in 1/144 scale. I realize thats kinda asking a lot so I will settle for 1/350 .... If I have too.

Any Unlimited Hydroplane from the 70's,  Preferebly in 1/25 scale. Miss Budweiser, or the O Boy O Berto. These were the boats powered by Allison and Rolls Royce aircraft engines.

I also "WISH" someone would make this in 1/48 scale....

I’d love to see some of the lesser seen USAF & USN aircraft of the post WWII/Early Cold War era in 1/48.

The F-86H, RF-84F, the F-82 family, F11F, F3D, B-66.  And some more economically priced kits (compared to Kitty Hawk & Trumpeter) of the F-5A/C & T-38, Vigilante, Skywarrior, Cougar, Fury, Banshee, and Voodoo families. Revell? Airfix? 

I'd love to see a decent mfg.like Tamiya or Airfix do a better 1/48 B-26, my favorite aircraft. The only one I know of in 1/48 is the old and tired Revellogram. Also back in the day Aurora ( I think ) made 1/16 scale figures of all the US armed froces. I'd sure like another crack at building and painting those since I know how now.

Another 1/48 BF-109G-6 or P-51D Mustang. Oh God NO! Just kidding, seems there's 5 or more of them released every year.

I'd like to see in 1/32, the EA-6A and EA-6B along with an F-4B Phantom II.

Now an ME-163 Komet in say 1/16th scale wouldn't take up too much shelf space. And think of the possibilities if Dragon or someone were to come out with a crew/maintence men figure sets to go with it.

For the naval side of the house, going up a notch or two in 1/200 or 1/144th scale, modern day U.S. British and Russian submarines. Jeeze...what would a Los Angles class or a Typhoon measure out in 1/72nd?

I'm not sure that I haven't already posted something along these lines before but, here are a couple possible areas that I was thinking of maybe;

a) one of the newer USCG cutters

b) a modern research ship like one of the new NOAAs ships or those operated by some University's/research organizations

c) one of the large Alaska State Ferries (or some similar vessel)

d) a typical Offshore Supply Vessel

e) a modern minesweeper/hunter

f) some representative cargo ships or tankers like you might see in a modern day typical port city

g) some more famous pre-dreadnought and/or ironclad era ships like maybe the USS Maine, HMS Warrior, and HMS Inflexible, or the like
