Been awhile since I've updated my newest additions. Yup, done got myself some of the good stuff.

And lastly, it was high time I upgraded my compressor. Although my old compressor has given me 20+ great years, and still works fine, it was time to move to one with a tank. Opted for the Badger. Have yet to put it through it's paces but, all looks promising. Feeling excited!

Is there many WWII era aircraft still flying in the Reno air races?

 

 

All of the unlimiteds are WW2 single engine fighters from Sea Furys, Bearcats, Mustangs and even a Yak. One of the 51's was stock, came in last but still awesome.

The Commemorative Air force flew their B-25, Hellcat, Bearcat and type 21 Zero.

 

Saw one of these built up recently - will look nice in white with my growing trainers wing.

That's quite a bit of armor you scored there greysnake. 

Yep. I bought another bandai kit; 0-0-0. Only a few more that I'd like to get my hands on.  Triple Zero is an assassin that looks like C3PO but painted black.

Steve - are those done in pencil?  Fantastic.  Used to have a Boll Weevel burger joint out here accross from Miramar (Naval Air Station at the time).  Had an aviation theme with several pencil sketchs on the walls.  Very cool.

Saw this Pinto and had to have it!

While not kits, the wife and I just returned from the Reno Air Races. Had a great time and meet Dan Witkoff, fantastic aviation artist for several years. My wife has followed his work for 30 years and was just over the moon to meet him. I have his Chuck Yegar print from several years ago. It took the majority of our Reno budget if I remember.

This is what I bought for the wife.

In the same tent we met Lonnie Ortega, another fantastic aviation artist who, while talking to him, I found out he has meet and was friends with over 20 + aces from Galland, Rall, Anderson, Gabrinski, Sakai and several other allied and axes aces that just blew my mind . And the most crazy of all is that he lives 15 miles from me and invited me to his studio sometime. 

This is what I bought from him, My favorite ace in may favorite plane, but it wont be the last one I get.

The subject of this kit has been discussed in one or two previous threads, and even though it is just a CV-90 with a futuristic outer cladding it offers a glimpse of what next-gen AFVs might look like.

It totally looks like it could have come from "Ghost in the Shell" or any other near-future anime.

    I built the K2SO in 1/12, not as big as I had hoped he would be but a VERY fun and relaxing kit. I did not paint and actually went the sticker option vs the decals. I am pleased with him and so is the wife. She likes that droid.

I have waited since 1989 for a 1/100 scale Zaku Kai - 30 years, but it's finally here!  I have a soft spot for the video series "Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket", from which this mobile suit design is from.

Been wanting to add  Typhoon to my UK collection for a while. Used to love watching this lifting off the runway at Mount Pleasant. Opted for the Hase kit.

Ted... I know that feeling.  Went to the LHS just to walk through.  The darn Airfix Hellcat-the big one-latched onto my ankle and wouldn't let go.  Now the aftermarket is nipping at my heels..just got the pit enhancement PE for it.

Have the P40-B, and it looks great, so the Tomahawk should be a beauty.  Will be watching for a WIP.

I went to HL for a circle stencil.  That's all.  I picked this up from the shelf and told myself no.  You know the rest. 

Looks like it'll build up to a staggering 2-3 inches tall.

Wow again nice stuff guys! Big kudos to you Keavdog for that huge haul! And Tankboy51 being able to replace lost models- glad to hear too you're doing better now. 

My latest model kit acquisition:

A few months ago my dad gave me a Guillows Sopwith Camel balsa wood model that he started but never finished.  He completed one of the wings... about 30 years ago.  I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to try to finish it.  

In the meantime, I figured I'd learn more about the camel by building the roden camel comic night fighter which the mailman recently delivered. 

I ordered paint based on the color recommendation on the box but I've been hard pressed to find a photo (there are some really old photos where it's difficult to tell what colors were used) or other paintings of the depicted paint scheme.  I did find examples of other schemes for the night fighter though.  All of this could be used to my benefit I suppose, as more discriminating viewers will have a harder time proving my choices wrong. 

While searching for different color schemes, I fell into a few youtube black holes about this plane.  The engine was pretty interesting.  Sounded very interesting and had an effect on handling.

Anyway,  I'm looking forward to the build.

Thanks for the heads up. Like the Hummel, i have been planning on getting one of the Dragon Elefant kits, but have been moving away from them lately. Might have to look into the tamiya.

I know what you mean about the price, i tend to buy the 2 figure sets as it works out a bit cheaper and i can always find a use for a good figure.

GreySnake, how does that Elefant look, i still need to get one of those. The leclerc is somthing we don't see often.

I do like Alpine figures.
