Bish,

You have got to put that Bucc on your Airfix GB!  It’s such an iconic British a/c.  Me, I’m a 1980s RAF wraparound camo kind of guy, but the Bucc looks handsome in EDSG as well!

Popped into the LHS today to grab some paint. I had not planned on getting the new Airfix Buccaneer just yet. But you know how it is, i saw the kit and it just started screaming at me begging to be bought. What else can you do but give in Big Smile

Looks very nice and at least it doens't have as many stencils as the Phantom. And knowing Airfix, there is sure to be an RAF version out next year.

Greysnake,

That M3 Lee was my first Taimiya armor kit!  One of my father's friends gave it to me for Christmas back in 1976 or so.  I had no knowlege of Tamiya until I laid eyes on that kit - and I was stunned at the overall quality of the parts, packaging, and instructions.  And I stretched my first sprue antenna for that kit!  I have been a fan ever since.

This showed up yesterday:

It is meant to replace the nose of the awful Airfix 1/48 B-57G.  The kit's chin sensor fairing is about half the actual width, the cockpit is complete fiction, and the forward fuselage has a weird bulged contour.  This resin set by Dmold from Russia replaces the entire forward fuselage, including the cockpit and transparencies.  Overall molding of the parts looks good on initial inspection, but the clear parts are slightly cloudy and have some marks which will need to be sanded/polished out.   That's not a really serious gripe, as I know how incredibly hard it is to cast perfect clear parts.  The kit's seats and control stick are to be used, but I already have appropriate resin seats.

And from Latvia comes the base kit I needed to do the JASDF E-767 AWACS conversion:

I immediately noticed the flexy clear window strips, apparently a Zvezda thing in their airliner kits.  No matter, as I will fill in the window openings with strip plastic and putty.  Now to do a little research on the antennas the plane used, as Zvezda surprisingly does not include any at all!

Looks like everyone is getting some good purchases.

Got an old Tamiya M3 Lee off eBay last week, yes there are better kits out there but I have my reason. I “attempted” to build one my first year into the hobby and for whatever reason had a really hard time with it and it ended up smashing against a wall. I really want to take another crack at it as the Lee is the only tank model I’ve given up on.

To my surprise I’ve finally got my grail kit the Dragon Sd.kfz 234/2 Puma.  I’ve been trying to acquire one since the start of the year and could never find one at swap meets and the ones I’ve tried to win on eBay I’ve always lost. I realize in terms of grail kits it’s not that special but I’ve always liked how the vehicle looked.  Never liked how the Italeri kit looked so just waited till I could get the Dragon one at a reasonable price.

Those are awesome guys, love those ship models.

PatW: No idea on the camo/markings but I love the idea of doing them as the vanished flight.

BTW: The seals went bad in my current airbrush and I've been constantly cleaning it. So I finally broke down and bought a new one. I loved my last Paasche airbrush so I hope this one works as well.

Bagged this from ebay UK....................

I have just watched the Nat Geo channel on Sky where they talk about draining the Bermuda Triangle. They centre on Flight 19 on the 5th December 1945 out of Fort Lauderdale and that the flight of 5 planes disappeared soon afterwards. I've found various pictures on the net of the flight/planes and their markings. The problem I have is, as the pictures are in black and white, what is the aircraft colourway, black, dark blue?

From what research I have done this is a depiction of the flight with correct markings?

Remember , common sense is not common.

Good looking Vet John

I went to our fall contest this last weekend and picked up several kits.

I won the Hood as a door prize (could't believe my luck) and got the Belfats for a song.

Too scratch the IJN and modern USN carrier itch I got these.

I also got the 1/700 Fujimi Kitty Hawk.

Now I have an F-14 in every scale but 1/350 and 1/32 LOL

And 2 more, the Arleigh Burke and Tike have 2 kit in the boxes.

I had to get a plane to round it off. The 16 is something I've wanted for a  while.

Amazingly, the wife didn't kill me when I got home.

Hey PFJN - I did a Buffalo a few months back.  Cool little baby-jug.

For me - can't stay away from the cars right now.  This one was 19 and change with free shipping on Amazon

Thanks,

John

Hi,

I will be leaving Canada in as few weeks so I went out and picked up a few more kits at the local museum gift shop.  Fortunately for me all the ones I picked up today were 20% off Smile

2 more additions. This first one i knew nothing about until it showed up on Hannants new releases list in early August. It sold out very fast as did the other UK suppliers, so i picked up up on e-bay.

It comes with 2 sets of helmits and torso's so you can build pre or post 2010. At first i thought i would take the easy route and do the older 2 colour desert DPM. But then i saw the L129A1 rifle which only entered service in late 2010, several months after the new MTP camo uniform was issued to troops going to Afghan. So i'll be trying my hand at that.

And from the modern British army to its origins. This bust is from Sarnia Minitures, a small company based on Guernsey in the Channel Islands. I'll be doing this for my British Army GB next year and building him as a soldier of the New Model Army.

Got this Alpine Michael Wittmann figure for my Dragon Tiger I’m building.

The Dragon kit came with a figure that is poor to put it politely when compared to the Alpine one. Not to mention the Dragon figures field cap wasn’t completely molded.

Man these are cool.  I gotta get some figures.  Between these and what Germanarmor recently published, I think I'm missing out.

Stick out tongueHmm GO, NOW! Buy figures and don't look back.

Serously, if you do buy figures make sure you have lots of references and paints.

Hi,

I went back to the Atlantic Canadian Aviation Museum today and picked up a couple old kits from there gift shop, including a  1/48 scale Accurate Miniatures Gulfhawk II, a 1/72 scale Ioneer 2 Foker D-XXI, a 1/72 scale MPC/Airfix Boeing Seaknight, a 1/72 scale bagged NOVO/FROG Fairey Gannet, and a bagged 1/48 scale Monogram T-28B Trojan (that I haven't checked to see if its complete, but which should be useful for scratchbuilding or ktbashing) .

Kits

I also saw an old FROG Battle Class Destroyer and an Airfix HMS Fearless that I was interested in, but decided to hold off on, for now.

That's some nice stuff guys!!!

Greysnake: Congrads on really nice haul there, I built the winter version Type 74 on here a few years ago. Typical Tamiya quality even though it's a older kit the fit and detail is good. And it's interesting in something you don't see that often.

Joe: Congrads there too! Love that IJN Yamato and cool looking compressor!
