John,  the Y-Wing in particular is stunning when painted up.  A friend built one and brought it over, and it looked unbelieveable!

This isn't new, but it fell out of the stash, so I figured why not post it.

Scale is 1/24, pefect for an automotive diorama.  This has got to be the easiest resin kit ever - only one part!  Waterslide decals are provided, and are NOT the single carrier film type, which is amazing considering this is a garage kit.  I suppose one could want a more over-engineered kit with PE parts and clear acetate for the display windows, but despite the manufacturer's name (Doozy! Modelworks), simple is sometimes better.

The beetle I'd be tempted to put in a dio with some tiny scale figures. I've watched way too many giant bug movies from the '50s...

The Tengu is a Japanese folk creature and the kit is from some town that decided it would be cool to make injection plastic models of such things.  This one is #2 in the series - the first one was a Kappa, an amphibious humanoid creature with a bowl of water atop its head.  Scale is not stated, but the figure is approximately 3 inches high, which would make it 1/24 scale assuming an actual height of 6 feet.  The kit is molded in ABS plastic, but looks and feels like styrene.  The burger-like object the Tengu is holding is a red bean cake (mochi mugi dorayaki).  I might make a double cheeseburger with bacon and swap out the healthy but bland (to me) cake for some gag photos later on.

The rhinoceros beetle (kabutomushi in Japanese) is by Fujimi and is also an injection molded kit.  When I was little, I had a fascination with bug models with wind-up motors, and I suppose I never outgrew it.  However this kit is a static model, albeit with polycaps to allow the head, legs, and wings to articulate.  Extended inner wings are provided as optional parts, but they look thick and unrealistic.  A single frosted clear ramp-like stand is provided, along with a foil sticker label.  For some reason, they give you two beetles in the box.  I plan on buying a deep picture frame and mounting one like a preserved specimen, and building the other on a branch in a mini vignette.  Fujimi has also released a stag beetle (kuwagatamushi) with similar features.

Its a good size box i know that much. Might well be an issue working out where to put it, but i will cross that bridge later.

Nice collection there, i have that 109 kit, lok forward to seeing what you do with it.

I attended Fort Worth's IMPS SuperCon yesterday and picked these up from a vender.

$5 each except for the Mohawk whch contains 3 kits, a 1/72 Hase P51C, 1/72 Hase Zero type 11 and the 1/48 Mohawk. That one was $10.

Thanks guys, I was really impressed with the quality of the molding. It can't be easy to capture the likeness of an actor or actress in a inch/3cm tall figure. They did make Kirk a little slimmer than The Shat though....

Timmy: The last set there are generic TNG/DS9 figures- you can paint as many as you want as red-shirts.

Though I think by that time Starfleet's Greatest Captain was trying to teach them the concept of cover terrain...

 

Excellent, i love it.

I was loking forward to a couple of the new Airfix releases this year. One was the Phantom, trhe other was the Victor K.2. I was doubly pleased when i saw that the Victor included markings from Op Black Buck. The kit was released last weekend and i picked one up from the LHS on Fri.

I just recieved my new kits of the Tamiya M3 Stuart, the new version, and the Takom Bergapanther type A.  Both very nice.  Also reloaded my supplies and fun stuff. 

That is good. Best i can find it is for £83 including shipping from China, thats on e-bay.

Hobbymodels.com has the kits on clearance for $89 USD.  Honestly, that’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen them so I thought it was a good time to pick one up!

Nice buy Chad. I still haven't pulled the trigger on that kit yet. Like the AM set as well.

So I just sold about 170 Dragon armor kits and Cyber Hobby collectibles on eBay and used the proceeds to fix our pool filter and purchased a new freezer to replace our ailing Kenmore.  BUT, I also treated myself to these two items!

John: Cool Vette! I visited the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky back in the spring and they didn't have a single model kit for sale in the gift shop. Sigh, no big deal but I'd like to have bought one there just to say I bought it at the Corvette musuem.

Nice score on the Comet. I need to get one or two of those myself.

Couple of birthday scores - initial inspection on both kits shows zero flash and well molded.
