My Christmas haul

I am going to attempt to install lighting into the Super Star Destroyer and the Rebel Blockade Runner, but both are so tiny that I'm not sure that will be possible.  The SSD is 1/100000 and the RBR is 1/1000.

I'm totally jelly of all those, especially the blockade runner. Curious just how big those are and the lighting would be super cool.

Nice haul there John!

How does the A-6 look in the box? Back when I was a youngster we used to have them fly over all the time so I wanted to build one. Built a 1/48th scale kit back in the early '90s- I think it was Italeri but it was kinda mediocre- really soft detail. I hope this one is an improvement!

Nice stuff Gamera,I remember the original Wolfman from the 60's one of my first kits.

Thanks Tojo. I think this is the same mold as the '60s kit. Most of him is molded in black so it's hard to see detail inside the bags everything is packed in and I didn't really want to open stuff and take the chance of losing parts. There is a sprue of glow in the dark plastic parts that I think was added in the '80s or so. It's easier to see the detail on that and it looks pretty friggin' good for a vintage kit.

Ohhhhhhh, those are cool Pat and Greysnake!

We always got our presents on Christmas Eve so here's my haul:

And this, OH HECK YEAH!!! I've been waiting for a 1/35th O-I. The box is a foot and a half / 45cm long and the lower hull is 11"/28cm in length!

I've seen how the Kittyhawk kit left open the rear fuselage and I am curious if Tamiya closed that up properly? I have a small Academy kit, but I want this one if the exhaust and fuselage is done correctly.

Huh, that's funny, this same kit just arrived on my doorstep as well.  Smile

I also just purchased ICM's 1/48 Bristol Beaufort from ScaleHobbyist, which states that I should have it prior to Christmas barring shipping delays.

I ended up with two kits from our annual IPMS Christmas show.

This:

And this bag- which was so cool I had to pick it up. The model inside was pretty cool too!

Wow, awesome stuff guys!

Greysnake: Love those! The Mark I is cool and as someone who built the Bronco Comet I envy you- I'm sure the Tamiya kit will be waaaaaayyyyyy easier to build.

SP: Congrads on an awesome pre-Christmas haul! Love the Brad, I've loved every Meng kit I've built.

Tojo: That F-35 is amazing! I'm curious how the decals work out, looking forward to seeing you build this!

BK: That vlnyl cutter is cool! Looking forward there too to seeing how this works!

Well I did a thing. I pulled the trigger on a vinyl cutter. I have fallen in love with using paint masks rather than decals. And after watching several online modelers use their cutters I decided it's time to step up. I will be making masks for just about every resonable thing I can and paint rather than decal whenever possible. I have a lot to learn and I will begin soon. I am going to upload all my decal sheets and use those as needed. Where I can use images of the real thing I will make and cut masks for those too. This will be nice for kits that have no aftermarket decals like my Valkyrie and for schemes that noone makes decals for. I figure it will pay for itself is about 15-20 kits. Super excited to get started with this process.

TJ, I'm definitely going to be making Yeager's mount. But at least one more P-51 on here is very tempting as well.

Brandon, I'm really looking forward to the Bradley. After a quick look at the box contents last night the "wow factor" was way up there! The only other M3 Bradley that I have is the original 1984 Tamiya issue. I have several of the M2 variants, but its really nice to get a late variant M3 to round out the family.

During the week, this decal set that I found arrived

Now, an excuse to pick up another P-51…

Last night IPMS Phoenix, we had our holiday dinner, which included a drawing of gift wrapped kits after the meal. I ended up getting this beauty!

Christmas indeed!

Wow, that looks like a really nice kit. Great luck with this score.
