A big box dropped this morning at my office:
In addition to containing the last of the Christmas model-related gifts for my friends, I indulged a bit and got myself these two armored oddities.
Object 490B has got to be the most "un-Soviet" Soviet tank design. In addition to being utterly non-evolutionary from previous Russian cold war designs, it emphasised crew safety/survivability, something unheard of on that side of the Iron Curtain. Needless to say, it didn't see serial production, but what an interesting design. Now I know where the Japanese anime "Techno Police 21C" got their inspiration for the tank in the show!

The VK 168.01 is yet another paper panzer that seems to be proliferating in model kit form, probably due to the online game "World of Tanks". I think it was an earlier concept that preceded the Maus. In any case, I liked the silhouette of this one. I'm just glad I'm not the crewman assigned the task of track repair!
