They also provide a metal barrel on the MICV and Scimitar kits.

Ohhhhhh that's some awesome swag there Keyda and guys!!!

Bobby: My AFV Club Long Tom came with a metal barrel as well as did my M40 (SPG version of the Long Tom) so I think they include one with all the kits.

Hey Gamera, this is the first kit I've gotten that has a metal barrel!  I'm pretty excited about it.  It's another first!  LOL!

Whoops, I meant all kits of the US 155, not all AFV Club kits in general! Embarrassed

I think the only AFV kit i have with a metal barrel is the Nashorn, but then i don't have many of their big gun kits. But i can certainly understand why a metal barrel would be a good idea on that Long Tom.

No pic yet, but went to the semi-local LHS yesterday for some paint when I was out and about....Of course you can't walk out with just what you go in for.  Picked up Trumpeter's 1/32 F4F-3 (late). Looked it over when I got home...nice kit, but floored me no representation of belts in the office at all.  PE hinges and metal rod for the control surfaces.

Also got some various size dowel and rod to work the PE on my CV-6 kit later.

Is that a new tooled Zero kit?

It's a change of decals from a 2011 new tool kit, which was discontinued.

Eagle, you did real good there! I'd be happy just with the Star Destroyer and the Long Tom.

Thank you Dom...I mean stik.  LOL!

I wasn't sure about the Long Tom at first, but the vendor is one that I have seen and gotten to know at multiple shows now.  He always gives me the "repeat" customer prices right off.  I got it for $15.  It was still sealed up and when I got home and opened it, I found it has a metal barrel!  I guess AFV sends with out with one?  If not, the plastic wrap was second hand.  LOL!

I couldn't pass up the Republic SD for $30!  It is a little to come by, so I jumped on it.  Bought the A-wing from the same guy for $22.

That's a nice little win there MC. I'm interested to see how that Airfix version builds up.

I just won a 1/72 Airfix A6M2b Type 0 Model 21 Zero for $3.99. That puts a 4th Zero in the stash, plus BONUS, I get a free paint brush!!!! I'm really interested to see how Airfix engineers a Zero with folding wing tips.
BTW, folding wingtips always seemed a little silly to me, but I guess it made some difference.
I'll be starting it next month.

Bish

Nice haul there Bobby. Now where you gonna hang that big BUFF.

Nice to see you got a couple of 251's there. Especially the Stummel. Will be interested to see that SD, makes a change from the Imperial ones.

Thank you sir!  LOL!  As for the BUFF....uh...I'll get back to you on that.  I'll have to find some room in the flight pattern that has 2 1/48 B-17's, 3 1/48 B-24's, 2 1/72 B-47's, 1 1/48 B-29, 1 1/72 B-36, and some 1/72 Russian bombers and a bunch of others I'm forgetting.  Whistling  Yes, I have a problem.  LOL!

Well, I took a roll call:

3 251's

2 250's

2 10's

How's that for German armour?!  LOL!

Man, that Republic SD is a hard to find and it's expensive when you find it.  I got this one for $30!!!!!!!!  That was another happy dance.  Embarrassed

My son was looking for a 1:1 version of this but they are few and far between here in the UK, so he bought a BMW 3 Series estate in the same colour instead to carry his mountain bike around..........

Man, what a great Thread here!  Love seeing the stuff everyone picks up!  Great stash increasers everyone!

Well, I went to the Pelicon yesterday!  It was a great show!  More vendors then the Venice show, but not sure if they had as many as Modelpalooza.  The models in the show were outstanding!!!  Really awesome work!  Didn't pick up my usual 20+ kits...but did increase the stash by 8.  Spent a lot more money on tools and stuff.  Bought more glue, lots of tools from Janes, and found a guy out of Ft. Myers that had a bunch of the new Tamiya weathering stuff.  I picked up some Tamiya black Panel Line Accent and Diorama Texture paint (Soil Effect dark Earth).  BUT!!!!  The best find I got....WAS....MY 1/72 B-52!!!!!  Finally got this kit that has been eluding me for so long due to ridiculous prices on them. It's not the original boxing I got back in the day, but I have one now!

[BACK STORY]:  Back in 197? (I'll let you figure it out).  I received my Christmas money from my grandparents and headed out to buy myself more models..of course.  Went to the hobby shop and there at an end cap was a 1/72 B-52.  WOAH!  Had to have it.  Back then I paid a whooping $25!!!!  I got this one at the show yesterday for......$20!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh yeah, I did the happy dance on this one!  Just about ripped the pocket off my shorts getting the $20 out!  LOL! Whistling  It was the first table as I walked in!  It was like it was meant to be!  Sorry for ranting on.  But this is a happy thing for me.  20 bucks people!!!  Can I get a WOOT WOOT!?  LOL!

Anyway, here is what I got.  Yes Bish, your 251 legacy is rubbing off on me.  I have something like 4 251's now!  Thanks!  Wink

I bet those Miniart figures will work in most if not nearly all WWII US tanks. Perhaps even most of types of turreted Army AFVs such as Tank Destoyers and guns like the M8 HMC.

Yeah I love the Verlinden stuff, they're not quite on the same level as say Alpine but still they're really nice figures.

And I love Miniart too, I've got most of their tanker sets. Funny, they're designed for a Sherman but with only small modifications they fit my Meng T30/30 perfectly.
