This is what I found waiting on my desk yesterday when I got home from chaperoning my daughter's shopping trip into town.

Ah those box scale planes. They sure do have a unique appeal, all different scales, but they end up around the same size when built.

Well, this came in the mail yesterday. I’m going to use one of the side handles on my current Harrier project, but I’m making the face curtain rings from wire.

The rest can be used on any number of future projects...

Mopar Madness

I LOVE that vintage art work on the planes.

The box art is really cool.

Thats what initially attracted me to these kits as I typically build armour.

Delivered today via ebay UK, it includes a decal sheet with 5 alternate sets of Milk/Ice Cream/Pop/Keep on Triking or Veloci 'T' decals.

How to choose the right set of decals?

I need to give these a try. I would like the Blue to Vilot for my GT. It sounds like you need to keep with their products for primer, base and top coat for a good finish.

Steve: I'm not sure what happened. Tamiya is my default go to primer. Maybe it wasn't totally cured. Or maybe they are chemically incompatable. I dunno.

But the Duplicolor primer from the auto parts store worked fine. And their own primer worked like a charm. So probably something like Krylon would work too. But it might be a good idea to test on a paint mule first.

I bought the blue to violet stuff simply because it looks interesting. No idea what I'm going to use it on. You do have to apply the stuff over a gloss black coat. So you need the gloss black and the dark primer if you want to use it the way Gravity suggests.

John: Yeah I read down on the paint forum not to use the U.S. guy. I did look at his website and he was attacking the Spainish company, which didn't look good to me. If you have a good product you don't run down other people to make yourself look better.

I have a couple Gravity paints as well but haven't used them.  And do not buy from the US guy - rip off artist.  Zero Paints also do color matched stuff.  I have one bottle in jaegermeister porche orange.

Thanks,

John

I did buy this. No new kits but I am willing to buy stuff like paint. And I've been having big issues with gloss paint. There was a discussion on the paint forum about Gravity Colours from Spain so I gave them a try. I liked what I saw so I ordered some more, this is both orders.

So far I've used the Mountain Laurel pink on a Cadillac and it crazed both the Tamiya primer and the plastic underneath it. Then I tried the 'Rally Green' over Duplicolor primer for real cars and the 'Torch Red' and 'Black Rose' (which is more a violet) over their own primer. And it worked perfectly, only a little orange peel. So probably it's not a good idea to use the stuff over Tamiya primer. Or something, I'm still not sure what happened.

I'm a Pontiac/GM guy so that's mostly what I ordered:

And a few generic colours. Plus I have a Lamborghini kit. And I want to do a violet and pink (two cars not both on the same car!) Mopar one day:

And primer and the gloss coat. The primer I used last week and was very happy with how it sprayed. The gloss is three parts you have to mix, the gloss, a retarder, and a activator. Not sure how well it will work, I'll just have to cross my fingers:

Oh wow I'm getting behind on following all the cool stuff!!!

Love Two Bob's and Archers decals! (Though I guess technically the Archer stuff is 'dry transfers' instead of decals).

Love the Lotus Pat!

And love the Harpy and Silbervogel Real G!

And RCguy, love the KV-I. Or I think it was, I don't see your photos now.

Hot off the presses is the AMP (Mikro Mir) Silbervogel "antipodal bomber":

It's so hot off the presses that the plane on the boxart is still glowing.  Stick out tongue  The kit itself is typical low pressure, limited run injection molded plastic.  I'll post up more pics on a separate thread.

Nice, about time we had one of these. I bet its a nice size. Look forward to seeing inside.

Nice stuff guys.

Carlos, I tried the Archer motor plackard and it woked pretty well. it was a 1/32 for a 1/35 so a little out of scale but still looked nice and added a touch of reality.

Ben, a 1/32 Viper is going to be sweet.

Like Carlos (Stikpusher), most of my stuff is decals or detail items which arrived in the last five days:

-Stuff for my future F-16 build

- Decals for my future F-15C build

- Decals for my future C-130 build

- building supplies

Don Stauffer built a beautiful replica of this and inspired me to give it a try, here it is (finally):

Thats it for me other than a couple things in transit still for the F-15 and F-16.

I got this a little while back.

It's a Harpy aerospace fighter from the Japanese anime "Crusher Joe".  The kit is by Hasegawa and is to the "standard" airplane scale of 1/72.  The kit follows the trend in Japanese kits in being snap fit and pre-colored.  But the colored parts are not broken down as much as what Bandai would do.  The kit will be glued together, as the snap fit causes parts to be slightly misaligned.

Those familiar with the Mechwarrior and Battletech series of board games will recognize this design.  I'm not sure what is was called in the game, as I only played Battledroids.  Yes BattleDROIDS.  Take THAT George Lucas and your clone army of copyright infringement lawyers!  Devil

BTW, a friend who was not familiar with the design commented the Harpy looked like a suburned lady going down a water slide.

Once you see it, you cannot un-see it!  Surprise

It has been way too long since I've updated all the kits I have accumulated. Yes, there are quite a few. I have also been remiss for too long on acknowledging all the fantastic stuff folks have gathered. I've perused all of it and it is indeed mind boggling fantastic. Everyone has found some immensely fantastic kits, tools and additions. Well done to all.

In my attempt to get caught up I'll start with kits I've acquired since X-mas. In this time period, I have found myself uncharacteristically going big. I simply could not resist.

Rescued this big boy from our local second hand store:

And then there are these wonders:

I've been wanting one of these for a long time and scored this one on a FB site

That should do for now. There is much more to share which I will in short order.

Take Care All. Joe
