In the previous photo, you will notice that I purchased the Meng Jeep, (a beaut little kit by the way). You will also notice a small box with a b&w label just below it. This is a set on figures crafted by AC Models of New Zealand and depicts several wounded Germans being transported in a Jeep. The sculpting and casting of these figures is superb. I had picked these up some time ago and bought the Jeep for the figures. They also make a set of 9 Aussie/Kiwi diggers from the Vietnam war designed to ride on an APC. I cannot recomend this manufacturer high enough, but their not cheap. Anyways, that was my day out in the big smoke and the stash was not seriously impacted.

Cheers, Ferg

However, I did buy some items and the major thing I wanted was the fine wire in the second photo.

My wife did snoopy in his sopwith so I had to get her the red baron lol

Love that Red Baron John.

Ok. So I was telling you blokes a week or so ago that I was going to take a loooong train ride into our state's capital, Melbourne, to visit a couple of hobby shops. Well, my mate picked me up at 0520. We drove into Bairnsdale to catch the train - a half hour drive. Finally arrived in Melbourne and went to 3 shops, 2 model shops and 1 pop culture shop. I finally arrived home at 1830, absolutely stuffed and with very little to show for such a big day. Melbourne was dirty and scruffy and the hobby shops were a serious dissapointment. Neither had a big choice of kits and were in short supply of plastic card, tools and paints. Both had lots of Leggo and RC stuff though. In future I'll stick to mail order.

Nice haul, TJ - I like Airfix Mustangs, too!

We are lucky if we can find a hobby shop thats offering 10% off sale here in Canada.

Yes, I know what you mean - my "local" (20 miles or so) model shop often has 10% off Tamiya kits, and occasionally has more items at a "sale" price, but a 40% reduction just isn't going to happen.  Probably just as well, really, or the stash would quickly reach the critical level!

My stash is getting that way. I now have 7x 1/72 Airfix Mustangs and 9 48th in the stash all because of Hobby Lobby. They don't have a great selection but when you can get a new tool 48th scale Mustang for $18 who can resist

Looks like some nice stuff for everyone.

Here is my latest acquisition, while it is the first edition (old) it is still a goodie:

It also came with an extra set of subdued after-market decals for the VF-41 "Black Aces". I am not sure if I want to go high vis. or subdued markings just yet, but its nice to have both options in the box.

I have read on thier facebook page that Quinta 3D decals will be available for this kit very soon. That will be a must buy to replace the flat and very basic cockpit/decals from this early kit.

Still, this has been in my wish list for many years and I couldn't pass on the price.

Picked up an AMT D-8 and lowboy trailer off ebay.  Arrived today, the repop kit.  Got a set of metal tracks a month or so ago for one.  Still need to get some round stock, sheet and screening for the ROPS, once I see what sizes are going to look right.

EDIT... Just ordered the 3D printed ROPS set from redtinc.

From my dear old ebay UK at a reasonable price..

But this wasn't..

It went on auction at an eye watering £102! Yes I want one but my pensioners budget would be truly blown!

Remember , common sense is not common.

Aggie, it's good to see the Wignuts' "last hurrah" made it out for release, even if it was under another company's label. Very nice score!

That's a good looking McLaren John. I'm sure that you'll enjoy building it.

These arrived in the mail. They will come in handy on my current Harrier project and many other 1/48 jet projects in the future.

Looks good John,

I build a Formula one once before.....probably paid too much for it as well.

Let us know what you get Dodgy

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

This is what I found waiting on my desk yesterday when I got home from chaperoning my daughter's shopping trip into town.

Wasn't this a WnW kit that got cancelled when they stopped production.

Yes, this was a WnW mold that Meng picked up after WnW shut down.  I got this one for $56 USD (plus nearly $20 to ship, grrrr) from Kitlinx.com.

Nice.

I've been eyeing that one for quite a while.

But it's $100 up here in Canada

Thats a good price, its anywhere between £70 and £90 in Europe. The WnW kits were not cheap for good reason.

I guess I shouldn't complain at $100
