Alittle off topic for this thread and not a rant. Those old Revel/Monogram kits actually build into descent representations of the subject, sure they have some accuracy issues, and the fit sometimes needs work however with a little love and massaging a fine model can be built. I can't lie if I had to choose between a 48th Tamiya plane and the same type from Revell/Mongram, odds are Tamiya would win.

Somerimes it is nice to "just build it". Enjoy yourself.

Can't beat the price though.

John, Dang it! you got my transporter! Actually I'm waiting for SB to have a Weekend Sale on Takom before I get one.

Nice kits guys. I would have to agree with armor nut and gamers that although the old revell kits have some issues, they still are fun to build.

Just recieved these from sprue brothers.

John: That's very good catch! Hopefully someone else will pick up the molds but still good thinking on your part.

RCGuy: I agree Armornut, I think that is a good kit with a little TLC. I really need to try another vintage Monogram/Revell kit. I grew up on them and need to give it a try again.

Purchase this kit at a local craft store on the way home from work today and got 30% off.

I heard these older Revell/Monogram molds are not the greatest but for the price I will give it a try.

Thanks,

WOW falconmod, that is a cool kit. I never knew it exsisted or it might be collecting dust in my stash. What a neat looking airplane. I believe the lower fuselage, wings, and engine nacelles are bare metal, given the time period the plane operated in and its mission. If I am wrong please feel free to let me know. Really that is the most amazing kit I have seen. Cant tell ya why it strikes me so but WOW. Maybe it is the incredible AirFix box art LOL.

Thats what I thought when I saw it! this one is set up inside as a patient medical transport plane.  good box art will get me everytime.

I also have Revell's Snowberry kit! Do you know where to get the photoetch for this kit?

Falcon,

Would suspect that would be an executive transport, read as puzzle palace, so most likely white over polished aluminum. Most likely correct for the time era.

Dropped by Hobby Lobby today.  Came out with a can of Mr Surfacer 1000, some #11 blades, new air cap and needle for the NEO, forgot the needle cap.  Also picked up the AMT Freightliner SD/DD kit. Kits at 40% off this week. That's for the repop kit of the D-8/lowboy trailer I got awhile back.  Have a set of a/m metal tracks, and redtinc's ROPS/with front bars, and his rear winch to replace the ripper in the kit.

Still need to get a can of Rust-Oleum cat yellow for the old school dirty yellow.

Just in case you're interested, the De Havilland Heron is a kit of a similar type, from the same era, also currently available as an Airfix Vintage release.  It's cheap, too - around £12 ($17) over here.

Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?

This was  total impulse buy,  it's a "Vintage classic"  Airfix kit from I believe 1969, so that means lots of sanding, scribing and adding detail.  Cool looking plane however.

Anyone know if the natural metal is painted silver or polished aluminum?

I'm going to assume it's polished metal

Cool F1's. I love the look of those cars.

Nice Lanc. Got to get one some day. Arguably the best heavy in WW2.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that Bronco kit when it hits.

The HK kits are supposed to be the cat's claw.

Really looking forward to this one:

I've never built an HK kit, but I'm betting just from a glance at the instructions and the parts in the box that it will make me forget about the ancient Tamiya Lanc that was literally coming apart at the seams the last time I took it down for cleaning.

Yes a new kit from Revell, I understand that the online shop had just one left, so I was lucky there!

The Bronco kit came today just two days after buying. I opened the box, plans, decals, and three bags, the truck, the trailer and the buggy superb! Oh and Dave sent me a free sprue cutter!
