Is it battle damaged?  That would be cool.  I remember battle damaged kits when I was a kid.

Thanks,

John

You better check the content's of that box. The kit may be damaged.

If the box art is to be believed, that plane is "Slightly used" .......

LT,

I guess that why I got it so cheap. Ahhh whats a few dents and scratches Huh?

Wow, that is TERRIBLE box art!  What was Airfix thinking?  I am surprised I had not read any Internet furor yet on the subject. There was some complaining of a GWH Sukhoi box art showing an F-15 going down in flames, but the subject of the kit was intact.

Its ok, thats one of the bad guys going down. Thats allowed.

Thats the aircraft of Franz von Werra, the only German POW to escape and return home.

As I recall he had quite an ordeal making it all the way to South America   on his way back to Germany. A movie  was made back in the 60s about his escape. Very ironic that he resumed combat flying but his engine died as a result he went down and his body never found.

Absolutely correct sir. The movie mentioned by PlasticJunkie was titled "The One That Got Away". I read the book (same title) on this man and I believe he was shot down during the Battle of Britain and crash landed on British soil. It's been a few decades since I read it so my memory is not what it used to be LOL.

I don't believe I've ever seen that movie but I've definitely heard of it. Now that I know what it's about I'm going to have to watch it. Good score on that 109 Drifter.

I've been looking for one of these for a while as I'd like to build another custom panel van with some :quotes: goodies :quotes: in the back so I scrounged one up on Ebay today.

Found the movie on YouTube. It was incorrectly listed on YT as Zorro and it was filmed in 1957 not in the 60s like a thought but was working from memory. This is a great forgotten film.

Hi,

I just picked this kit up off eBay, for a (hopefully) upcoming Egg Plane group build.  I'm kind of amazed by the extensive and detailed set of decals that it comes with Stick out tongue

Well, here are the latest additions.

I have to say, I've got a thing for battleships!

I got all three off eBay for about what I would have paid retail for the Kongo... Not too bad...

O-boy, now you're talking my language. I assume the Tone is 1/350 as well.

PFJN,

Very nice choice on your kit, and you are right about the detail of the decals that come with these kits. I picked up this one about a month or so ago. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the group build you mentioned. Hope you enjoy your build.

OK, I had to satisfy another itch due to Steve's (Modelcrazy) thread about our first car, so I went out and bought a 1/25 78 Trans am model. An of course, I just could not stop there.

Here's the damage.

The Pontiacs:

The Chevys:

The Fords and Plymouths:

The 65 Chevy is near and dear to my heart because my father owned a SS327. All the rest are cars that I would have like to have owned. And of course my beloved 78 TA will be build as close to what I owned when I was young and dumb. And, yes, I wish I still had that car!

Whoa! Now that's a dandy haul you landed Bruce. I'd fancy one of those Tamiya Tones myself. Good show.

I worked 67 hour's this week. So, of course, my wife had to come up with a way to "DEPRIVE" me  of my cash. She bought stuff for the house.

On the way home, I saw a second hand store that hasn't been open in two year's .

I got all these for $60.

All the kit's were sealed, exept the 57 Chevy. It's all there, just missing the instruction's.

That's an excellent 2nd hand store score Timmy. That'll teach your wife to not deprive you of all of your funds.

My wife want's to do some "Shopping" in Tucson tomorrow ( great....a 240 mile round trip)

Once again , I will be forced to pull the old " The truck wont run" trick......

I will let you all know what I get at the REAL hobby store.... ( I think I still have a few dollar's stashed in my sock ...)

Been liquidating my stash on EBay recently.  I’ve decided to only keep my Airfix collection and a few other kits. So, I got some more red box goodies with some of the surplus funds!

BTW, I didn't see the HMS Victory.
