These popped up after going MIA for two months, first being delivered to the wrong neighborhood, then arriving crushed flat and soaking wet. Fortunately the kits were bagged in cellophane, so they escaped the worst of the moisture although the instruction sheets felt damp. The decals were individually wrapped in their own cellophane baggies, so they were fine. Unfortunately, the kit boxes were shipped "flat pack" style so they took a hit.
The first is the Horten Ho.IX, the unpowered proof of concept for the jet powered Ho-229.
Drats.
The second is the weird Edgley Optica, an observation plane that was only built in very limited numbers.
Double drats.
Overall, the Optica has cleaner moldings. But the Horten's simple outer shape should make it a simple build.
Since the package was MIA for so long, who knows where it fell off the plane and sat on a wet tarmac before being stepped on. So I ordered another Optica from a more secure source. The Horten's smashed nose gear is easy enough to repair/replace.
At least I can put this attempt away in the Permanent Dead Project file:
