I got the CH white box /2 when it first came out, think i paid about £40 for it, but somehow missed this one which came out the same year.

You can't have enough 251's.

I got one of those when it came out, oh those many years ago.  I think it cost me $40 or so, I can't remember.  I think I'll keep it around, or build it.  I have built so many of those 251 beasts.  A few months ago, our new kitty cat pawed off the nebelwerfers of one of my kits.  Not a big deal.  Nothing broken.

your not kidding Chad. I have seen a couple of others on e-bay at unde £100 bt they have been sold by the time i saw them. There was one in the US that came up a few times for about 170, but i thougt that was to much and not seen that for a while. Now i don't have to worry, just need to decide what scheme and Div i will assign it to.

That is a rare find indeed.  I sold one from my stash on EBay a couple years ago for $120 USD!

Wasn't expecting to add anything else to the stash this year. But in Sept i came across somthing i just could not pass up. One of my 2 holy grail kits is the Cyber Hobby 251/23, i have been after this kit for about 10 years. Then i saw one for sale on scalemates and the guy wanted jst under £50 for it, but he is in Canada. So i messaged him and after a few weeks he came back with a postage price then sent if off jst over a week ago, and its now arrived.

The postage bumped it up to £80 and then the HMRC slapped a customs charge on it which brought it up to almost 100. So its now the most i have ever paid for a kit but worth every penny. And certainly better than the 150+ i have seen on the odd occasion one is on e-bay. But it won't be joining the rest of the stash in the shed, it will stay up in my model room where i can keep it safe.

Now, if somone would do a 1/72nd Ju 87C, i can die a happy man.

This came in yesterday:

It's a gigantic skim board from the Gundam universe.  Crazy-impractical, but hey, it's from a series featuring 60 foot tall mechs in space!

I assembled the major components without pressing them fully together to see how big it was, then stuck an in-scale toy on it.

Picked the subaru up at HL for 40% yes it was a impulse buy and the Twin otter at my LHS because of a posting down in the airliners section.  you get a lot of parts in the otter box for $20.  looking at draw decals for AM decals for it.

John,

It's actually a Fleet Air Arm Martlet flown by Lt. Dennis Mayvore Jeran RN off HMS Formidable during Operation Torch.  That's the good and bad thing about decal sheets, there are now two more Wildcats that I want to build, this is one of them.  I normally wouldn't want to but the US insignia on a FAA bird is intriguing.  I remember seeing your Challenger at the Garlits Museum in 2012.  I thought I had a picture, but I think it's on one of my dead puters.  If you get a chance, the Garlits Museum is worth the trip.  Here's a link to my 2007 trip if you're interested.

I know what you mean about the decal sets. After i got the HD Decals for a Bf 109G nightfighter, i had to buy another 109 as there was another aircraft i wanted to do. The only thing i don't like about AM decals is you pay a lot of money and often only use one set of markings, so when you can its nice to make the most of them.

That same martlet is included in the 72nd Airfix boxing. I thought that was odd when i first saw it with the Star on. I think it was just the standard marking for the operation, like the British armour with the Stars applied in NW Europe.

Fantastic museum - thanks for the pics.  I'll have to put that one on the bucket list.  There's a ford museum in Tooele, UT at what used to be the Miller Motorsports Park - got new name/owners.  Only place in the world where they have all versions of the GT 40 and the le mans wining cars.  Lot's of special cars there.

Thanks,

John

That will be a cool build John!

Got some new stuff in.  The first is a PE set for the Jet Provost that I got in last year's Secret Santa Build.  I remember thinking that a pe set would really spruce up the cockpit when I built the Vampire, so I finally pulled the trigger and bought one for the Jet Provost.

The next acquisition came about as a result of a late night I wonder if they make decals for this?  Earlier I posted a pic of the F11F I bought a couple of weeks ago.  It turns out that the squadron in the kit VF-156, became VF-111 The Sundowners. Earlier this week, I got the bright idea to see if decals were available for all the aircraft flown by VF-111. It turns out that the answer is all but one.  It turns out that VF-111 started out in WWII as VF-11 flying Wildcats and then Hellcats.  After the war (1946), it was redesignated VF-11A and flew the Bearcat.  In 1948, VF-11A was redesignated VF-111 and switched to the F9F Panther. It would fly the Panther, Cougar, and FJ-3 Fury before being decommissioned in 1959.  On 20 January 1959 VF-156 became VF-111 the day after the original squadron was decommissioned.  The reconstituted VF-111 would fly the F11F Tiger, F-8 Crusader, F-4 Phantom, and F-14 Tomcat before being disestablished once again on 31 March 1995.  In November 2006, VFC-13 became VFC-111 and flies the F-5N in an adversary role.  My first purchase for this collection is a set from Starfighter decals for a F8F flown by VF-11A.  I have decals on the way for a Wildcat, Hellcat, Panther, and Phantom on the way. I had the decals for the Crusader and Tomcat in my stash.  I've found decals for the FJ-3 (Sword actually made a version of their -3 Fury with the appropriate markings, but it is unobtanium at the moment) and F-5N.  The only one unaccounted for the Cougar, but I may be able to make them as they look fairly simple.

I finally was able to get this new set of IJN sailors from Tori Factory. They came out in Sep I believe and now HLJ is out of stock. I have a second set on order when it comes back in stock but I'm happy I was able to get these guys. 142 figures with pilots and deck crew. The Akagi will need around 300 on the deck.

Agree - some nice figures.

lewbud - dig the f-11f.  I wish someone would do a new 1/48.  I built the old lindberg kit ages ago

Mail Call!  Don't normally do ships, but I read about the HMS Glowworm destroyer fighting it out against terrible odds.  Should be interesting at 1/700 scale

And this pinto will be a pro-street monster - and it comes with a coke machine and coke bottle green tinted windows  :giggles:

Oh wow great stuff there guys! Love those figures Greysnake!!!

Joe: I've partly built a Kinetic F-16. The molding quality is excellent but I've found the fit kinda spotty- some very good and some leaving a bit to be desired. I really need to finish the darn thing.

Nice acquisitions everyone.

These are a combination of items I’ve ordered/picked up in June, September and October.
Acquired three armor kits I’ve desired for some time now. The Dragon Tiger I was a very good deal and the original issue of the kit from 2005 with all the detail parts and individual track links. The Matilda was purchased because I wanted a Matilda to replace the old Tamiya Matilda from the 70’s on the shelf. The Japanse SPG was found at a second hand store still sealed.

More figures to add to the stash. For future projects, These will probably be among the last plastic figure sets I’ll buy as I’m switching over to resin figures.

Speaking of resin figures here’s a couple. The figure from Tahk was ordered from Russia in late June and finally showed up around the middle of September as I recall. He’s destined to guard a Meng T-10 in the future. The Alpine figure was picked up just because I like the pose and have plenty of Tiger’s that need a commander.
One more resin figure from a new manufacture Life Miniatures from South Korea. I’ve wanted a decent Soviet Female Sniper in 1/35 and the figures available haven’t impressed me. I’m pleased with this figure just not the pose since it looks like a pose for a propaganda photo or a war memorial statue.

Thanks Steve.  I think the contact area dimensions are just outside the PGA's rules for putters.Wink

John,

I'll have to look into iRacing once I get interwebs other than my phone.

Our club had an unofficial gathering at a members house today and held a sale.  Picked these up.  I have a thing for early USN/USMC jets.

Research material on the Sea Harrier and F-22.

Because I'm kind of a space geek, I got these.  It turns out there's 14 volumes in the set and those that I'm missing can be got pretty cheap.  They're written for teens, but have some interesting pics.

Research for my growing collection of Bugs and Super Bugs.

While not a model it will help with research and my other hobby, photography (and be useful should I find a work from home job).  It's an Asus gaming laptop.  Don't game yet (maybe if I can find a decent flight or racing sim set up, but that will have to wait until gainful employment is found).  Bought it so I could learn photo and video editing, and possibly CAD in the future.

Check out iRacing.  Amazing.  They have tracks like autoclub speedway in fontana that I've actually been on and the sim is spot on.  Its a thin client which boggles my mind as the performance is awesome.  You can drive alone or race against others online.  Supports steering wheel and pedals as well.

Still looking for a good flight game like Falcon way back.  I occasionally play Hind where you get to fly missions in a Mi-24v.  Pretty fun.

Thanks,

John
