I have 3 new additions (actually, 5) to the stash.  I've continued my pursuit of old Monogram kits in the baby blue boxes.

Note the 2 written on the box top.  Yes, there are 2 kits squeezed into the box.  The box is in bad shape, but cut it some slack as it is 50+ years old.  The decals are likely unusable, and there are no instructions, but I'll get those from scalemates.com.

Unlike the Huey, Monogram includes 2 Cobra choppers in this release.

I didn't go looking for another Spitfire.  I've built the old Revell 1/32 kit in recent years, as well as one of Tamiya's 32nd scale releases.  I have no less than 4 1/48 Spitfires in my stash.  But when I looked at the instructions on scalemates.com for this kit, saw that this comes from a new company with strong ties to Wing Nut Wings, and saw some of the detail that is included in this kit, I shrugged and said, yep, I must have this.  So here it is.  It looks good in the box, but I will say that it is not Tamiya-level detail.  For one thing, there is no engine included in this kit.  But Tamiya didn't produce a Mk. 1a in 32nd scale.

DRUMS01

Those are all some nice classic choices PatW.

I'm leaning towards similar purchases like Keavdog recently, this time I got a wonderful deal on a Trumpter 1/35 CH-47A Chinook.

It will go well with the CH-54A Tarhe.

Wow those are awesome too Ben! That skycrane must be gigantic in 1/35th!

Again ebay uk have come up with a used Tamiya 2005 WRC Scooby, not in the standard metallic blue moulding! But in white, so it may well be totally different from the box art!

Thanks Pat & Tcoat, I was wondering if it were a reissue or an original kit from the '80s.

Knox: Those are cool! Nothing like a good game with figures you painted yourself.

My purchases today.  I took the day off to get new tires put on the wife's car.  Guess I should have gone to work.  When I retire in a few months ( or weeks ), I look forward to having stuff to show in the " figure" category.  I haven't played any games with them yet, but our group plays every Tuesday, with an occasional Saturday, all day tournament.

PatW

On one of the parts it says, 2007.

Interesting. Scalemates shows that box as the 1981 release. Makes sense since it is a Matchbox. The next release is in 2021 as an AMT again.

Went to a Hobby Lobby for the first time. Probably a bad idea knowing I have enough kits saved to last a LONG time but I couldnt resist since I am not normally in the area.

AND of course they had a 40% sale for all model kits so I came home with two. Honestly, it could have been worse. I had 6 picked out. So two was a good comprimise.

I never have any luck in flea markets - usually find open box for more than list.  Last time I was at the local market, best I found was an unopened Tamiya 1/12 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG for $200.  Pretty sure the LHS has it for less, plus I'm not really a car guy...

And Tcoat, fantastic find - congrats!

Wow guys!!!

Aggieman & SP: Cool, I had the same plane with the hunter and cougar! Couldn't remember what it was though! So has the kit never been reissued?

Pat: Ohhhh, neat! Is that a reissue or the original kit?

Tcoat: Wow, great find!!! I look in Good Will every now and then but never find anything but old clothes and the sort of knick-knacks granny used to have a house full of. Guess I should find some time to hit flea markets.

MR TOM SCHRY

Great find Tcoat!. I wish that I could find bargains like that

The guy is selling a bunch of models he got from an estate sale. Some are grossly over priced and other are  resasonable. He has had them for months and months and is slowly dropping the prices to a point where I can make an offer that isn't a pure insult. Three weeks ago the Tone kit was marked $150 and I almost offered him $120 but decided to wait since he said nobody else has even asked about them. This week it was marked $60 and I offered $40 which he jumped at. He has a Tamiya 1/350 Prince of Wales with the full upgrade set including wooden deck and turned brass gun barrells that is now down to $95 so next weekend I will offer $75. The only other thing he has that interests me (unless they go way, way down then anything interests me) is a Trumpeter 1/32 F-105D but it is still way overpriced at $150. I considered just offering him $500 but am doing better by playing the waiting game. There are none of themon my "must have" list so I won't be upset if I go and they are all gone so no hurry.

A 1979 Matchbox-AMT VW Golf kit..

As it has side panels in the kit to depict a Delivery Van, I'm most likely to go that way.

MR TOM SCHRY

Aggieman, I agree with you about these Monogram kits from our youth.  I built that Piper Tri-Pacer when I was a kid.  Didn't it come with a hunter and the animal that he hunted?  Great memories.

tjs

Yeah, it includes the hunter and a dead mountain lion.

I am posting far too often in this thread!

My latest two additions both hail from the year of my birth, and are kits I had long sought but not found for a price I was willing to pay.  Until now.

I remember seeing a classmate building one of Monogram's civilian aircraft, whether it was this exact one I can't recall (I believe Monogram had 2 or perhaps 3 such models in their inventory), but I never did it myself.  Still, that memory has stuck with me through all these years.

Then the Blue Angels set.  I am pretty sure I built that one as a kid.  When I embarked upon acquiring all of the old Monogram baby blue box kits that were prevalent through my earliest years of building in the late 60s, early 70s timeframe, this is the one kit that seemed unattainable.  Mostly because no one ever seemed to have that one on eBay, or when they did, it was only the box or it was priced with a 3-digit number.  This seller happened to post this one for $30, so I knew I had to grab it.

I have only a few remaining baby blue box targets to acquire.

Nice haul Stik - I like the Cruiser.

I've seen a bunch of 106 builds lately so I jumped on the band wagon
