I am amazed at the huge variety of models that modelers build. I am stuck in a rut just building aircraft. I need to branch out a bit.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Some very impressive work going on in this thread. I haven't posted anything in quite some time so I guess I'd better get on the ball.

I don't move particularly fast with my builds but I did manage to get three finished this year. The Arado 234 took 3 years to build . It was one of the most difficult builds that I've completed to date.

Completed in March---AMT C1500 454SS:

Completed in July--Arado 234 "Blitz":

The only problem I had with it was attaching the wings. The entire wing, which is quite heavy, sits on 4 small struts in front of the pilot. The other struts on the side don't provide any support. There are 2 N shape struts that connect these two struts to the wing and they are very flimsy and they both broke as I was cutting them of the sprue. Managed to glue them together but they didn't fit at all. The machinegun is attached to the sprue at 3 places and it broke at those three places very easily. Other that that, it is a good model to build.

There are some WIP photos in the "eyes in the sky" GB. The kit is by ICM.

Cheers.

Nice!  Really like the Henschel - may have to pick one up. How was the kit?

Thanks,

John

These are the last three. Beaufighter is a bit too dirty as it was my first attempt at sludge wash.

Henschel 126 in 1/48

Beaufighter in 1/48

Merkava in 1/35

FotoFrank - really cool eclectic trio!  What's the story behind the Wildcat?

Keavdog, after the war the Navy used Hellcats as target drones to be shot out of the sky by student pilots learning how to shoot air-to-air. Some Hellcats were also used at target-tow aircraft, pulling a sock behind them.

The drones were used a lot for testing the early AAM's, both free flight and guided. That's a situation where a piloted tow aircraft was just too risky.

This is kind of a funny story:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Palmdale

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
