There is no “magic bullet” here but I also believe it to be a software gone wrong thing. They try to fix or improve something only to mess up some other function. Let’s sit back and let them sort out the bugs. I hope they fix the site into a secured connection instead of presently being unsecured. I know there’s no sensitive info here but it would be a welcomed feature.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Yeah, I don’t understand the “outrage” either.
In the latest issue, they talked about how they are struggling to update old software and systems. To me, this feels like a data merge gone wrong- the wrong customer file got imported or the wrong batch file was run. I expect their IT and marketing guys have no idea this happened- that they are going to come into the office Monday morning and walk into a “ship storm” of angry emails and forum posts.

I fail to understand the logic behind not subscribing because of this. It won't rectify the issue. I got 2 emails, a simple click deleted them.

murphStill haven't gotten one
Me either. I feel left out.
This smells more like a system glitch than a big marketing conspiracy to make us all mad, but that's just a hunch. We'll see.
Still haven't gotten one. Mind you, I 'unsubscribed' to Kalmbach's e-mailing list a few months ago when I was getting almost daily e-mails from them about buying this magazine or this special issue or that other 'must have' publication and I haven't had an e-mail of this type from them since. Lucky me, I guess?
Retired and living the dream!
If I hadn’t just renewed last month, I wouldn’t have after this. And I won’t be in the future. Like I said previously, I really dont like this kind of marketing, and will not deal with companies that use it.

One would have thought in an age of continued contraction of the print media sector, let alone this hobby we all very much enjoy, customer satisfaction would be priority no. 1.
But alias, you have hit the nail on the head, the all mighty dollar wins out again.
And so, another paying subscriber I am, no longer.
In the end it is all about $ not integrity. Haven't purchased an issue in years and don't pla to.
I'm not sure what the intent was, pherhaps spend the time and effort on ensuring that paid subscriptions are recieved in timely manner with minimal fuss.
After being spammed AGAIN, I wont be continuing my subscription of FSM.
My .5c worth.
plasticjunkie Yep got all that crap too. Welcome to the “new improved “ site. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

And so it begins....
Nothing is ever easy no matter what FSM does.
Cadet Chuck I am waiting for a reply from a Kalmback manager acknowledging the problem, and what they are going to do about it. I wonder if they or the moderators are aware of this. Not sure how to go about contacting them.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
I worked the night shift, and I received 3 notifications for emails from Kalmbach between 2:30am and 3:00am. It said thanks for registering to Trains, Scale Auto and a snowmobile website and now I can get a reduced subscrition by clicking this address.
It's a big deal to me, if someone has hacked Kalmbach and trying to steal info. This may be the last straw for me as far as Kalmbach pertaining to Finescale Modeler also.
The forum for Finescale is nothing but one effing mess with way too many login issues, lack of thread notifications and customer service.
I think I will just let my current subscription expire and buy my magazine at the newsstand.
Well there you go... this is an FSM issue. Time to tell them to quit spamming us.....
Yep, they hit me this morning.
Your comments and questions are always welcome.

I got them as well.
Blocked and reported them as junk.
Same here, I filed them in file 13.
Yes, getting them across several emails as well from at least 3 different magazines.
got them too in my hotmail so i put a block on both so should not have them appear again hopefully. i wonder if the site got hacked which might explain the spam?
Both mine came from this email address
ScaleAutoMagazine@mail.kalmbachmail.com
the ad says a special of $19.95 for a year but I click on the subscribe link and it says $29.95.
Lo and behold, this morning the same “thank you” emails were in my in box as well.... delete, delete, delete...
thanks for the heads up guys...
I got them too. The ‘deleted’ folder in my mail program list emails alphabetically, so it’s easy to see that Kalmbach is one of the largest contributors to this file. They normally don’t bother me, but I did have to look twice at the ones they sent today. That kind of marketing really turns me off to a vendor.
