Oo, i remember the lower hull ang tsaga mo eh, pwede naman waterline pero, kung bibiyan mo ko ng lower hull hindi ko tatangihan yan. teka, may kapalit ba yan. hehehe

VC 10? you mean air group 10? Enterprise air group lang in 42' comprising of four squadrons: V(F,B,T & S)-6. air group 10 if i'm not mistaken was between 43' to 44'.
sayo ang resin syempre.
don't you find them sexy with the lower hull on?

By the way, speaking of cars... has anyone noticed any Academy cars? I was able to get a glance at a brochure of Academy from a friend of mine (I do not know how he got hold of one). Anyway, I saw they were "period" pieces like the Ford Model T, etc. Big ones also, I would surmise from the pictures. I heard they're cheap... has anyone tried one?

Tamiya's mini coopers aren't that expensive.... you can find them in Lil's for less than PhP 500.00. The Austin Mini costs more at around PhP 600.00 than the Morris models because it has metallic rub-on transfer parts. But regardless of their cheap price, the quality of the kit is first class and is worth every cent.
Regarding Academy cars... I've been trying to hunt down for these (specially the one that looks like the Cobra or is that a Shelby?) but can't seem to find it in any of the LHS I frequent.

Me too... I feel daunted when it comes to cars. I've never done one because I was always afraid of the paint work. I guess that's why I stayed with ships. They're naturally patched and weathered and generally battered-looking. Easy to paint, no? Same with tanks. If it doesn't look even, we can always "wash" it away...

the fact that i don't have an airbrush makes me wonder how i would go about with the finishing, add to it that, i don't have that much knowledge about cars, specially its internals... i know how the engine works, theoretically, as taken up in science class. hehehe
i like how the mini looks like, i actually see it as something pretty and cute just like the new beetle... no offense intended.
i find cars, along with tanks pretty intimidating to build. i'd settle for chibi mechas and "unano" scale planes that catch my fancy for now. after all, i am merely just a beginner...
hehe.
stick around, night_crawler... nice to have you here. i drop by automotive forums just to take a glimpse of their builds, man... i can't help but drool...

Uy! Is that the Tamiya 1/24 Mini right? One of my friends (used to be from the old SMCP group) made one but cut open the doors and hood. That was some piece of work!
Do it na... I can't wait to see it.

The hood/bonnet already comes detached allowing access to the engine in the 1/24th Tamiya Mini. Your friend might have cut open the doors and trunk/boot for additional modification works.

Uy mini cooper.... ehehehe.... one of my faves too. Got me four unbuilt kits of the mini cooper. The Morris, Austin, Monte Carlo Rally, and a circuit racer. Still honing my automobile modeling skills before I start building these lovely minis.

Measure it with a micrometer. Mark it with a grease pencil. Cut it with an ax.

That's totally fine. You can easily delete those earlier posts you made by clicking the "delete" button on the upper right hand corner portion of your post.
Muscle cars are nice, but I only seem to find interest on one specific model.... the '69 Dodge Challenger. Can't find a 1:24th scale model of the car in any of the LHS though.
I also have a few racing cars in my to build queue.... They're mostly rally cars and a couple of touring cars.
Now, the hot exotics in scale don't catch my fancy, I often already see them in scale (either model kits or toys) that to see another one is just another recurrence of deja vu. It's a different story when I see the real car in the flesh though... it just takes my breath away. [:0]

Here's a photo of another car I'm working on. This is an old ESCI kit and is very innacurate when compared to the photos of the original car. I'm currently doing some modifications like altering the shape of the rear fender wheel arches and changing the rear tires for some wide off-road sand tires. I've also scratchbuilt working hinges for the bonnet.
Here's a link to a photo of the original car.... http://www.dakardantan.com/voir-equipage-1180-1984-c6741c.html
And here's mine:
Ehehehe.

Hello Night-Crawler 427,
Yes, as Jun mentioned, I think that the Motormodelers is the only club here in the Philippines that is fully dedicated in Car modeling. You can contact Jay Tison at 7224681. He will be happy to be of help to you.
