thanks! but, i pass the honors to my senior BAC members they know who they are, i ha d the similar reaction when i saw their works.Smile [:)]

yes, i have the same callsign, the Bataan is 1/700 DML USS Princeton, Independence Class Light Carrier, having modified it to a 1951 Korean Conflict Version of the USS Bataan, one of the first USN carriers to arrive in that theater to provide the UN forces much needed "by then" ground support. having only one squadron VMA-312 F4UD corsairs, later reinforced with Avengers and Skyraiders.

all mast fore and aft were modified and radar, AAA were rearrange including trading off the aft 5"38 DP gun for a 2x40mm quad, the fore was also modified as the ship did increased its stores, the Bataan was currently being upgraded when it recieved the call, w/c explains the lone marine squadron (VMA-312) also rush into the conflict. the whole squadron is the ship two are inside the hangar.

water line Tamiya nga, the KGV is still under construction, the hull is scratch built from styrene, fiberglass and polytuff, the shafts and strutts are spruse and the rudder is als made of styreen, there's nothing complex in the build all are basic i'll share the technique if you like.Smile [:)]

the raillings are PE i'm still practicing allan's method on stretched spruse, very economical yun.Smile [:)]

good luck on your CV6, i'm making a hull for mine, using the as-built drawings and some photos, the Trumpeter 350s hull are innacurate so, i can't rely on them, i think we have the same kit if i'm succeful i'll cast you a resin copy.

hello Rod and Mang ernie

talk about shifting topics, it tells me to know my subject well not only the technology behind the model but , the history that makes the model much more interesting.

i'll go check your gallery in armorama.

BTW, i'm still caught up with my F-8, building and research at the same time.

Mang Ernie, if I may...

Beth,

The most apparent difference between the F-8E and the H is the nose cone. The Hs were remanufactured Ds which in turn had a narrower nose than the H (which had a larger radar and hence more bulbous nose).

The PAF F-8Hs (or more appropriately the F-8Ps) also had a considerably large pod on the tail just above the rudder.

The PAF Crusaders were retired sometime in the 80s and were left sitting in the grass until Pinatubo wrecked quite a number of them. A few were repainted and used as dummies for the film "13 Days."

Hi Allan

is that a 1/72 scorpion in your signature? AFP?

i agree, the BAC guys really knows their stuff so far, as i have only met a few of them (mang ernie & allan they're the only ones with signatures) in the forum and their website and gallery. but, i haven't been to armoram yet.

although, i'm not a member any group, they're okey! they're like nerdy fun not much brandishing just doing what we modellers like to do. (don't get me wrong guys)

thanks for the complement, wait till you see my work, you'll be out of this forum in no time. hehehehe Wink [;)] time for my bueaty sleep.Evil [}:)]

again welcome!

Wow, Filipino modellers are starting to sprout like mushrooms! Welcome to the newbies.... i for one am also a newbie, just a couple of months old as a returnee to the hobby. Wink [;)]

Anyway, I've a question for the Cavite modelers.... where do you get/buy your kits? Are there any interesting LHS (local hobby shops) over there? I'm somewhat in a hunt for other nearby hobby shops.... specifically located in the southern metro. Big Smile [:D]

I'm pretty much am already a regular of STC (Pestebal), Hobbitoi (ATC) and Accurate Model Works (Southsmall) and am wondering if I have other options in shopping for other kits and supplies for the hobby.

Li22beth, emjaetee,

Can you post a kit or two? The last time I saw a model built by a female was at the IPMS Philippines competition at Harrizon Plaza. Her entries won!

rod

Rod,

No, it is not that huge. The box is not far from the 1/350 Tico kits. You can build this kit either full hull or water line. Nice fit too!Cool [8D]

Rico,

Why not make a brief lecture next meeting on top of Gap Filling. It's one short lecture lang so the guys will better appreciate it. Borrow a box supply from Winston and sell it to the members in case anyone will be interested.

What do you think ?

cbrain,

hi, fellow newbie, i normally go to STC Festival , Acurate Southmall and JMNs at harrison plaza, right now its mostly JMNs its a bus ride away and they have a larger selection of 1/72 armor, and i can also place orders from the owner of the store. sometimes i go to Lil's in makati since its also a bus ride again.

also, JMNs is the only store that gives me discounts.

thanks a lot for the warm welcome!

Suki ka pala ng JMNs, i usually buy my kits at Natalie's store malapit lang ako sa malate, i get regular discounts on kits even from orders, Lil's also gives discounts but, not as frequent as JMNs, same as you malapit din ako sa makati but, it takes 2 rides from my place.

and from work, i'm at a walking distance from STC virramall, i seldom buy from STC because of the price and no discounts so, i rather go to Lil's Mega and still save some money.

makulit pala yun isang girl natin ditoSmile [:)]

you can check out the Bataan and KGV at armora and Allan's or better visit our website at ipmsphilippines.com Lipton's work was recently uploaded and its very good hes also a newbie.Big Smile [:D]

I see.... I've heard nothing but positive feedback from Natalie's JMN from the other modelers. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa ako nakakapunta dun. Seems like I have to schedule myself a road trip to that place one of these weekends.

I visit the place twice a month at least. One orange jeep ride lang kasi from the office.
