Noel,

yap, it's full blown desert war on all scale and categories, you should get that 1/32 scale F-18 Hornet Iraqi Freedom started.

Cant wait to see your KGV, pare. My Exeter got lucky last March. It would have been completely outgunned by your KGV. Literally, and figuratively.

WOW!!! ang dami natin dito, i'll bring the KGV when its finished baka sa 30th, there's 3 more left overs fron the last contest, likely my F-8H will be another leftover habol ko na lang sa natls.

ako lang yata walang sig?Shy [8)]

Mang Ernie,

Yung sig mo yata eh has a different pixel size. There was something said dun sa kabilang forum about it being stretched or force-fitted. Sayang mukhang maganda pa naman design mo. Maaayos naman yata? But try posting the URL on your profile here baka umubra naman.

I got a new sig just now. Mainit-init pa. A big THANK YOU for the lady who gave me the basic design! Now, back to the drawing board! hehehe!

Sigman,

True. But I have yet to hear news about other places where municipal halls were burned. Buti na lang our candidate for congress and a couple of mayors were already proclaimed. And within the next few days, hopefully, so will our candidate for governor.

Goodluk on your F-8. If you want I could send you pics of my 72nd PAF F-8 in the two tone wraparound grey. Its not much, but it incorporates the corrections to make it an F-8P. A colleague at the club lent me actual paint chips from the real PAF F-8 and thats what I used to mix paints. Please feel free to ask if you have queries, and we'll try our best to answer them.

This 30th we'll be holding the 2nd Bert Anido Cup featuring nothing but PAF models.

I have to say JMNs does provide great service. Been buying kits from Natalie since the late 80s. And service hasnt waned, not even a bit. Me discount pa.

allan

wow! so many of you BAC guys, i've seen your F-8P mang ernie directed me to your gallery in armorama and i saw two more in your website, i'm thinking of converting mine into one although i'm not sure if my skills is ready for it. i hope i won't be asking too much for references, mang ernie will send me some walk around pics and advise me not to rely on the color scheme only the details.

BTW, saw your challengers yours and mang ernie nicely done cammo what's it made? and an open engine panel? almost mistaken them for 1/35.

impressive hawk! you entry won 1st place in you last internal contest.

its good that you guys are promoting are own armed forces i'm saddened by the fact like in your scorpion being "downgraded to philippine army standards" talk about our national pride.

keep it up, I know you guys are in the right track.

who's junior?

maraming salamat sa pics! wala kayong patawad pati ba engine cavity kinunan nyo? the details are clear: blisters, engine support, narrow radome and landing gear bays.

mmmmm, engine cavity? this makes me wonder what your up to? is there a reason why you can't finish your F-8H for you BAC Cup besides work? hehehehe

are you junior?

my sentiments also, last year i bought a sealed DML kit at STC virramal, when i got home and opened it its contents were mixed with another kit and the instruction had hand writings, i tried returning it the next day or exchanging it for new kit, the sales lady said it was impossible since i opened the box and "magagalit daw si boss"?

so, next time when i wanna buy a sealed kit, i always request it to be opened before purchasing and check all its contents myself, if they won't, sorry, but no thanks.

i'm a frequent visitor of STC (now, less of the buying), this attitude thay have towards their consumers has to improve or else its bad business.

with regards to your extra thin: "charge to experience" my friend.

Whoah! so many replies, these are BAC people right?

rodbn20, Yes, the tamiya thin cement in like very diluted. I only use this to fill the seams or very little gaps on modelling. my 2 cents worth

Man, I'm away for a few days, and all this turns up!

Firstly, I want to say "Welcome to the Forums!" to the new guys/girl!!! Normally i would mention all by name, but there are just so many, and my memory is failing me! Tongue [:P] It still amazes me that there are so many modelers in the Philppines!

And speaking of new girls... I may have one more female addition to the modeling roster... A friend of mine has expressed interest in building a model when she accompanied me to JMNs yesterday... So, i offered to buy her a kit and cement. Though it wasn't an overly expensive kit, she was the one who picked it out.... It was the Academy 1/72 Bf109 Emil with Kettenkrad, and the revel glue. (This one:)

(i was kinda jealous for a while because it has a little kettenkrad too!!! Tongue [:P])
Money well spent, in my opinion! So, keep your fingers crossed, because she's building it today! I also invited her to the BAC cup so she can see other people's work, and she has kindly accepted!

Allan: you know, i don't think i'll ever be truely happy with any kit i build.... At least, not for some time. Like i said when i posted the pics of my B-17 all those months ago, i know where all the flaws are and i'm higly critical of my own work... I am changing though, because now, i'm willing to let my models be displayed for contests (this is not something i would ordinarily do)!

Dwight: I have heard stories of kids building vastly superior models when compared to "old timers", so it doesn't really matter how long you've been in the hobby, but how much you love it. Big Smile [:D] You know, I'm not too sure I've seen your work yet... Then again, I don't really hang around in the Armor Forum... How about a teaser photo or two in this thread? Wink [;)]

Shrikes,

Wow thanks for the morale boost. LOL.

I know you have seen some. Anyway I have some pics of my works posted in my website. Not so great ones but I think they are not bad also. There are some 1/72 A/C, too. My first ones and not too good, too. Anyway, I am an armor guy now. He-he-he.

Ah, that's right! I've been to your website already!! Your aircraft aren't too bad... it helps because you have an airbrush!! Hmmm... There's no way to convert you from the darkside, then i take it? Tongue [:P]

Shrikes,

My aircrafts were painted using spray cans. I built them before I got the airbrush. The only plane I painted using an AB is the Concorde but I don't have pics of it posted. The helis were handpainted.

Wow... How did you get the soft edged camo lines? Raised masking somehow? I've never had the patience to try that... Smile [:)]

You are right about the raised masking. Good effect but not easy to prepare the masking.

BTW let me correct myself. The warthog was built after I got the airbrush so it was painted using an airbrush.

Our second internal contest Desert Conflict (Plastic Models) which covers the period from "Desert Shield" to "Operation Desert Storm" was selected from at least 5 themes which were suggested by our members during our meeting held on May 16, 2004 . Selection of the themes was voted upon by members, we, officers of the club let the members to select what themes they want thru votes, I have a video clip of said
selection process, I can upload it here if you want to view ,to see how we conduct our
business .

Due to the clamor of members, the Desert Storm upgraded and extend to
Operation Enduring Freedrom (Iraq war) .

Thanks

I order a Magic the Gathering tournament deck and I didn't have problems with it. It arrived the afternoon the next day. They also used Air21.

Grabe. My hardrive died on me so I waited for the replacement from HP. So i have'nt been able to surf the net. 2 pages na na add dito? Sir Noel! this is why we should get our own Message board. yup...i know it's expensive but think of the advantages! I think this should be given som serious thought on the next IPMS Manila meeting.

I might be able to 'borrow' my sister's credit card this week and send my application to IPMS USA.

To all the newbies. Welcome!!

p.s.

How about having one message board for all the IPMS chapters in R.P.?

Reggie,

Mahirap pa ang IPMS Manila. Our goal is to support the immediate needs of our members which are more on workshops. We buy models to work on them for the workshops instead of using your models. Also, we need display stands for the upcoming activities. It's still on the planning stage.

We will get to that sooner or later. The web is one good tool to communicate.

'Cant wait to get you registered. We are thinking of sending kits for the IPMS USA Nationals. Can you bring them? We can send the superdetailed 1/144 chopper to you.

Reggie,

By the way, tell me asap when you have your IPMS number. As soon as you pay, you can email Mary Jane Mc Kinney. She is very helpful. When that is done, I will give you the contacts of Region 9 which covers California, Hawaii, Manila. There might be regional contests that we can join into.

So speed it up man! Hehehe

Actually, the best way to learn is through contests. You will see how you fair and see how you can improve. Nakakahiya talaga sa umpisa but when you are used to going home with a lost entry, you kind'a get used to it then just work hard on the next project. Next thing you know, you're on stage with the trophy

Shonen!

Welcome aboard, my friend! Hope to see your works posted here.

Beth,

Many thanks! We'd be glad to help you out if you decide to make a PAF F-8. We can share photos and pointers. We've even got an F-8 operating manual. Shhh! Secret! Hahaha! Our Decal Team can also provide you with decals for that. Theyve been making PAF decals, complete with squadron badges and numbers, for quite some time now.

If you have time, please drop by this 30th. We'll feature a contest full of PAF and PAAC. The goal is really to promote interest on our own Air Force.

The Airfix Scorpion kit represents a more advanced version of the vehicle. It has to be downgraded to represent an accurate Phil Army example.

Junior is Mang Ernie. Thats how he's better known in IPMS-BAC. You should see his works in the flesh. Ang gaganda! I wouldnt be surprised if he's building an "unbuttoned" F-8. Junior's the type na tahimik lang, but pag dinala yung model niya magugulat ka.

No bucks, no Buck Rogers

... sir, bakit naman po nakakahiya? eh, we all started out somewhere, di ba? as a newbie to the tricks of the trade myself, i look at it this way...

we are newbies... we have that advantage of being "forgiven" because we're freshies... and inexperienced...

or at least, we have that alibi. hehehe Big Smile [:D]

and if you get beaten by a twelve year old, dig yourself a hole and plant your head in it! hehehehehe...

seriously though... one way for us to learn is by having guidance from those who know until we get to have our own technique.

that's why this forum is really good coz even though people posting here came from different orgs, it does not matter when it comes to educating modellers, specially us newbies.

kaya Bow [bow] thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Bow [bow]

like what shrikes said... it's time to expose the builds! Big Smile [:D]
