HI everyone,

got same decal problem here, anyone or anybody knows how to restore/remove those decals with stuck wax paper... and getting yellowish... tnx & GOD bless to all...

I think some use vinegar.... dunno if it's true cuz I haven't tried it yet. Big Smile [:D]

I think the vinegar thing works. I remember Ping (or was that Noel) telling me about it. I think the vinegar softens the decals though. It might soften to the point that it won't be usable. I guess I'll try it on one of the decals I have. I'll let you know what happened.

Jun

hi jun,
i'll be waiting on result before i do something... one more thing, is there a modeller you know who lives in pampanga, esp. angeles city?... tnx & God bless!

Late breaking news... I tried the vinegar (I think it was Lorins brand)... didn't work. The decal became a little soggy but the yellowing didn't come off. I think it was already the fixative that they use on the surface of the decal. Sorry... back to the drawing board

i just bought a bottle of Tamiya extra thin cement medyo malabnaw is it supposed to be like that? i normally use the tamiya regular cement.

i bought it at STC festival mall.

The extra thin cement is great for plane fuselages. Just be careful not to press on it too much or else you'd get a melted bead on the seam the size of Mt. Apo! I tried medical-grade Chloroform already and it's just as good. A little hard to find but really good. Just make sure you use it in a well ventilated place. Personally, I'm a CA user. I use Turbo Glue for thin applications and 3M gel glue for thick ones.

Jun

yeah, malabnaw talaga, extra thin is like alchohol it uses capillary action to adhere and dries fast, nagyon ka lang nakagamit?

sorry sa inyo mga pre, mali ang pagkakasabi ko, malapot sya parang regualr cement, i went to JMNs iba ang kulay at amoy i try returning it back sa STC ayaw ng sale lady...bad trip ako mahal pa naman!

rod

Guys,

I suggest getting the name of the sales lady and post them here. I'm sure yung "boss" nila is listening in to this forum. Naktulong pa kayo.

Jun

Rod

my sentiments also, last year i bought a sealed DML kit at STC virramal, when i got home and opened it its contents were mixed with another kit and the instruction had hand writings, i tried returning it the next day or exchanging it for new kit, the sales lady said it was impossible since i opened the box and "magagalit daw si boss"?

so, next time when i wanna buy a sealed kit, i always request it to be opened before purchasing and check all its contents myself, if they won't, sorry, but no thanks.

i'm a frequent visitor of STC (now, less of the buying), this attitude thay have towards their consumers has to improve or else its bad business.

with regards to your extra thin: "charge to experience" my friend.

Whoah! so many replies, these are BAC people right?

I might be able to 'borrow' my sister's credit card this week and send my application to IPMS USA.

To all the newbies. Welcome!!

How lucky you are to have a wonderful sister who's willing to lend you her credit card... I wish I had a sister like that. Trouble is, I'm an only child... Sad [:(]

Jun
p.s.

How about having one message board for all the IPMS chapters in R.P.?

I agree 100%... I honestly think I'm a lousy modeler (that's what my wife keeps on telling me) but I still try... To me, it's not really winning eh... it's being a part of a hobby you like.

hello, dyango! Big Smile [:D] welcome to the fsm forums!

your 1/72 A/Cs both fixed-wing and rotating wing? i have an apache on standby but still too hesitant to start with it. hehehehe.

What's the scale of your Apache? I have a 1/72 on hold also eh. I got stumped when I tried to imitate the work of Chris Jueco's 1/144 Apache. YOu can see it in the IPMS-USA Gallery of April I think. When you see it, just remember it's 1/144.

tnx for the welcoming me; yup, i've done both fixed-wing & broken-wing(este rotary),
tip ba ika mo? try using chloroform for fixing the parts, gamitan mo ng brush, malabnaw
ksi to, but be very careful in using it on canopies and other clear parts, it would surely ruin your masterpiece, a very small amount would do the trick. Gud luck on your apache!!Smile [:)]

i'm just wondering, is there any kit around, of 1/35th French MBT Leclerc or AMX, and the Italian Ariete, coz i'm more into collecting modern MBT's of the world. I remember bumping around a Heller Leclerc (1996), but i suppose the kit was a very hard-to-find one. I prepare injection-piece kit though, rather than resin kit (too pricy!!)

Hay naku emjaetee, believe me. My friend, Ping Malay, also with IPMS-P-BAC had to literally FORCE me to join a contest at Harrizon Plaza last 1995 pa. Before that contest, I really never had competition quality models as Allan or Jim or Hermie. So I really prepared a ship. Just one entry for that contest. Ping had to teach me to weather ships then. It won 2nd place. The first placer was a Ticonderaga 1/96 scale ship!!! It was also the Best in Show. After that contest (win) was the time I had the courage to join contests.

IPMS Manila had a contest recently. Many of our members had a wait and see attitude. Nakiramdam muna sila as to how far they are in terms of their skills. We really had to encourage them so much. But when I saw the beginners' (daw) models, I saw myself much worse than how I faired years ago. Ok naman..pero natatakot pa rin. Anyway, I think it is something some of us go through.

Nope, still not into armor.... nakaka-intimidate pa i-replicate ang weathering and rust effects sa mga yan e. I'm still into cars, aircrafts, and lately sci-fi.... i think the same weathering done on armor would do very well sa sci-fi kits. Wink [;)]

QUOTE: 2004 Second IPMS-Philippines-Bert Anido Nationals Open

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

1. Eligibility. --- The contest is open to all scale modelers. Models that have won either First, Second or Third Place honors in previous metropolitan or national competitions are not permitted to enter.

2. Content requirements. --- With the exception of dioramas, all entries must be made of at least Fifty percent (50%) styrene or resin content. Models predominantly made of brass, stainless steel or other photo-etched metals are eligible to enter after the appropriate content screening. Die-cast, wood and other pre-built models are absolutely prohibited.

3. Screening and Classification Committee. --- All entries will be screened by the Screening and Classification Committee, IPMS-P-BAC, upon ingress. The Committee shall classify and group all entries in their appropriate categories after the termination of the Pre-registration period, which will be set at least two weeks before the intended contest date.

The Screening and Classification Committee reserves the right to exclude any entry from a particular category or class or to altogether disqualify an entry for just grounds such as ineligibility, obscenity, excessive violence, and other socially unacceptable themes. The Committee likewise reserves the right to require the removal of certain parts for content inspection as well as the removal of model bases, cases or model parts from any entry. The decision of the Committee shall be final.

4. Awards. --- At least three (3) entries are required to open a category. In cases where there are at least three (3) entries, First Place honors will be awarded. Where there are at least five (5) entries, First and Second Place honors will be awarded. Where there are at least seven (7) entries, First, Second and Third Place honors will be awarded. The Organizers reserve the right to modify, drop, or create categories in the event of limited entries.

There will be awards for Best in Aircraft, Best in Helicopters, Best in Armor, Best in Ships, and Best in Figures, which will be bestowed in addition to the category award won by the entry. The additional awards mentioned above shall be bestowed based on the total points accumulated by each winning entry during judging regardless of the category.

5. Contest Area. ---

a) Where applicable, write-ups and/or pictures are prohibited on the competition table. Only name plates measuring up to 4 in x 2 in indicating the subject, scale and kit shall be allowed. Model builders’ and/or owners’ names are prohibited from appearing on such name plates. Any violation of this rule shall be a ground for automatic disqualification of the entry.

A violation of this rule shall be a ground for disqualification of all the offending participant’s entries. Individual entry scores will be posted after the judging period.

Many thanks! We'd be glad to help you out if you decide to make a PAF F-8. We can share photos and pointers. We've even got an F-8 operating manual. Shhh! Secret! Hahaha! Our Decal Team can also provide you with decals for that. Theyve been making PAF decals, complete with squadron badges and numbers, for quite some time now.

If you have time, please drop by this 30th. We'll feature a contest full of PAF and PAAC. The goal is really to promote interest on our own Air Force.

The Airfix Scorpion kit represents a more advanced version of the vehicle. It has to be downgraded to represent an accurate Phil Army example.

Junior is Mang Ernie. Thats how he's better known in IPMS-BAC. You should see his works in the flesh. Ang gaganda! I wouldnt be surprised if he's building an "unbuttoned" F-8. Junior's the type na tahimik lang, but pag dinala yung model niya magugulat ka.

allan

operating manual? i knew it! malala na nga ang tama nyo, the next thing you'll tell me the bombs are real! would i be any different, in our campus the only college na maraming may sayad sa utak are from CAFA (College of Architecture and Fine Arts) your also a thomasian i wouldn't be suprised.

sure i'll drop by, if there's no overtime for us. i'll catch up.

i'm waiting for a lady friend of mine to post , my friends are also into the hobby.

hey mang ernie or junior

allan was right, tatatahimik ka tapos nasa loob ang kulo, your USS Bataan got 1st place
both your challangers yours and allan's got 2nd and 3rd repectively, his hawk got ist!...in your internal contest and other wins that i may have overlooked. don't get me wrong this is a complement from me.

what i like about you guys is the humility and sincerity in helping us newbies,no politics, loud ads and no BS. keep it up and stay insane.

mang ernie, junior, mang ernie, junior......i like junior better.

sorry sa inyo mga pre, mali ang pagkakasabi ko, malapot sya parang regualr cement, i went to JMNs iba ang kulay at amoy i try returning it back sa STC ayaw ng sale lady...bad trip ako mahal pa naman!

rod

Whoah! so many replies, these are BAC people right?

arlmags

jun

in reading this forum you guys promote STC.
there's no need for such red tape,
if the owner of STC is reading this forum. therfore, he is already informed.
have pity on the sale lady and spare rod further inconvenience for one bottle of cement.

my 10 cents.
