Yeah, Beth... the scale is right. I heard it's a nice kit.

By the way, sometimes modeling and work mix... BAC has a member in Dubai working in a modeling shop... now that's a job! Doing something you would have otherwise done for free! Now I know what the mean when they say, "your work should be trated like your hobby"... Big Smile [:D]

PS: I heard Rhea's getting married? Sayang... Big Smile [:D]

Ei, kudos to the IPMS Manila (or is it the South Manila?) guys for your exhibit in ATC last Sunday. I was heading for CDR-King to buy me some blank CDs when I noticed a few built models (two aircraft carriers and a Viking aircraft) on some monobloc tables on the third floor. I think the event was already finished when I passed by.... most have already been packed up and there were only a few guys chatting amongst themselves.

Dunno if anybody noticed me, I was the guy in a black shirt with a white Nazi insignia drooling over the few kits that was left on the table. Ehehehe. Approve [^]

It was IPMS/Manila's internal competition. We decided to hold it in a mall so we could also "advertise" the resurgence of the hobby.

The South Manila guys were there to judge and exhibit their stuff (good workmanship from these guys, IMHO). The other judges were the General Manager of Bristol Myers and his son (both avid modelers), and Monchit Hermoso (a friend of the hobby since Bert Anido and Tiggy Barcelona's time pa).

Sana nagpakilala ka, pre. I could have shown off the model I made... nanalo ako ng third place! kasi tatlo lang kami eh... Tongue [:P]

I was soooo tired after all the preparation. Natulog ako ng 3:00 in the morning cramming for that competition. Tapos ang kulit pa nung mga guards... Oh well... It was worth it, though. Congressman Rene Velarde of Buhay Party List was there to award. We had a lot of giveaways c/o the sponsors. We gave the South Manila a bunch of models for them to give away to their members. I wasn't able to let you know about the fete kasi baka magalit nanaman sa akin sina Ritchie sa MP eh... Wink [;)]

Next competition is in December. Sabay din ang X'mas party siguro...

PS: Yung dalawang carrier na nakita mo were the 1:350 na Enterprise and the 1:720 na Forrestal. The Enterprise won second place at the last IPMS Philippines Nationals in Harrison Plaza. It was built by Noel Carpio and me. The Forrestal and the S3 Viking is mine. The Viking was the one I mentioned kanina. Third place nga siya kasi tatatlo lang yung entry... Ouch! Big Smile [:D]

Thanks emjae... LIke I said kay Cbrain, it was a lot of work but it paid off, I guess. I only hope it was enough to drum up interest in the hobby again.

We agreed to have the contest there to promote the hobby primarily. Hindi naman kasi kami makakakuha ng members for our club there kasi its too far. We're endorsing those who did apply for membership to South Manila.

Someone there was inquiring about the Nationals and I encouraged them to join. I gave them the BAC website so they can see the rules and stuff. They were a little daunted daw by the image of Tony F. in MUB (sobrang pogi kasi eh) Big Smile [:D]... Seriously, they felt they would not be "worthy" daw. Sabi ko sa kanila, everyone has to start somewhere and it is only through joining competitions where you can get to really hone your skills and pit yourselves with the best.

I have been hearing great things about the Nationals. I wish I could have an entry for it but unfortunately, the office is taking too much of my time (wika nga ni Beth) and I don't have one na "National Comptetition" quality. Big Smile [:D]

I'm glad Tony and the guys are really into advertising this fete. It will do so much good for the hobby as a whole and we only stand to gain from their activities.

beth,

Yep, that's the one. Usually JMN charges for a minimal on freight forwarder and it usually took 24 hour to arrive. Big Smile [:D]

Cbrain,

thanks for the kind words, The affair at Alabang TownCenter is IPMS Manila's second internal "Desert Conflict in Plastic", with South Manila's member acting as contest judges. The affair went well with the presence of Rep. Rene Villarde as our special guest.

There was also a couple of your group a man and a lady who viewed our displayed models and also introduced themselves to me as Bert Anido members.

Bravo Sulu to All Filipino Modelers

I agree with Beth... the name Tony Feredo is indeed starting to be a household name in the modelling world of the Philippines. hehehe.

Mang Ernie is actually in charge of one of the sections of the GB build. He has been pretty busy lately. don't ya worry, Beth, I'm pretty sure he misses you, too. Wink [;)]hehehehe.

the 1/48th Gambier Bay was also featured in MUB and the Manila Bulletin article... Approve [^]

and yes, Dhel... Work and modelling never mix. Sad [:(]

csmeekai

indeed, some of my friends when mentioning about IPMS-BAC Tony's name is always attached like: " napanoond mo Unag Hirit IPMS-BAC was featured this AM and a guy named Tony was discussing about your hobby, or nasa or paper si Tony oh malamang IPMS-BAC yan..."

Mang ernie? i think he did mentioned it somewhere they (you guys) were building something big...aha! don't you start on me csmeekai.hehehehe

if mang ernie is so busy with his job, building parts for a big ship and doing his entry for the nationals...you should be inspired to do yours dba?Wink [;)] don't forget allan he's running silent too.Smile [:)]

By the way, regarding the modeling and work not mixing... I think the BAC member was Tommy. He's working in a model shop daw in Dubai. Lucky dude! My dream job is to work as Quality Control or R&D at Tamiya or Academy. Sarap nun!
