Ah.... the Gundams from the 08th MS Team. What I don't like from the Gundams naman despite them being the heroes of the series.... are their color schemes.... the common red white and blue (dagdag mo yellow) colors are just too.... fastfoody for me. ehehehe. They simply are just too visible. Dead [xx(] Would've been cool sana if they came in camo, low-visibility or drab colors just like some zeon mechs or real-life military vehicles.

HI everyone,

got same decal problem here, anyone or anybody knows how to restore/remove those decals with stuck wax paper... and getting yellowish... tnx & GOD bless to all...

I think some use vinegar.... dunno if it's true cuz I haven't tried it yet. Big Smile [:D]

I think the vinegar thing works. I remember Ping (or was that Noel) telling me about it. I think the vinegar softens the decals though. It might soften to the point that it won't be usable. I guess I'll try it on one of the decals I have. I'll let you know what happened.

Jun

hi jun,
i'll be waiting on result before i do something... one more thing, is there a modeller you know who lives in pampanga, esp. angeles city?... tnx & God bless!

Late breaking news... I tried the vinegar (I think it was Lorins brand)... didn't work. The decal became a little soggy but the yellowing didn't come off. I think it was already the fixative that they use on the surface of the decal. Sorry... back to the drawing board

Jun

Hi jun,
thanks for the info, that saves my time... i guess i have to reproduce the decal myself... thanks anyway.. till next time...GOD bless you...

I'm currently working on a Gundam model.... it's a Dom Tropen. I have built some ARII Macross kits two Gerwalks (VF-1J & VF-1S) which are finished, 1 half-built Battroid (VF-1D) and one completely wrecked Valkyrie (VF-1A) courtesy of some kids (friggin' relatives) who assaulted my room.

In my unbuilt stack there is one more ARII Macross Gerwalk (VF-1D) kit, a Bandai Macross SDF-1, and four ARII Zentraedi Battleships.

So basically.... puro Macross sci-fi kits.... medyo sinubukan ko ng konti yung Gundams... but my focus is really on cars and aircrafts.

Wow! Expensive! I wish I had the money...

Jun

Nope, they're quite cheap really.... The Gundams I mentioned I only got for less than PhP 200.00.... they're the bootleg ones from China.... got it from my chinese officemate. The ARII Valkyries I got them when they were still not rare kits from Toy Kingdom in Southmall... price was only a little over PhP 100.00. The Zentraedi battleships are still being sold cheap in Wonder Toys ATC for less than PhP 150.00. The SDF-1 kit I bought at around PhP 500.00 and the last unbuilt ARII Gerwalk was PhP 300.00+..... both were acquired from STC. Mahal talaga dun.

the IPMS-Manila guys, do literally promote STC should be the first to inform the owner of incidents like this, and assist rod, this is the best moment to help a fellow modeller in need and not pass him around...talk about a bottle of cement.

rod

you should bought your cement somewhere near like JMNs and Lils mkt. isang bus ride lang sayo yun diba? di ka siguro nagkaproblema.

i also use extra thin ang mahal, kaya i use them in tandem with regular cement. a friend suggested chloroforme its cheaper pero sumasakit ang ulo ko, i don't want to wake somewhere naked. heheheheBig Smile [:D]

cheer up!Big Smile [:D]

beth

Hmm... naked... uhh... slap! slap!!!

Okay, back to business... Big Smile [:D] I've tried using Chloroform and you really have to use it in a ventilated area. My friend said it'll really damage your nostrils if you're over-exposed to it... make you sleepy too. I haven't tried Benzene though. I'd like to experiment on it also because that's what the acrylic manufacturers use to stick the Jeepney signages together eh.

Jun

hi to all, sorry havent posted for quite a while. Blush [:I]

beth/jun

i've been using chloroform for years now. yup its cheap, but its very hard to come by sa Mercury Drug these days Sad [:(]. anybody out there knows where we can buy chloro?

a word of caution when using chloro though for aircraft modelers. be careful when assembling the trailing edge of the wings. i find chloro too strong that it sometimes warps the ailerons and flaps, especially when the edges are very thin. use tamiya extra thin instead or apply just a small amount of chloro. use a very thin brush to control your application.

when assembling the fuselage halves, just apply a small amount. otherwise, after the joint has dried and sanded, i notice later that some lenghts of the joint tends to 'sink' that i have to apply filler. Angry [:(!]

right on beth! tamiya extra thin is expensive so its more practical to use other glues in tandem. Thumbs Up [tup] keep those glue you get for free when buying academy kits Big Smile [:D]

keep on posting! Cool [8D]

jim

Right you are, boss man... right you are. That's why I shifted to ships... at least CA isn't as difficult to handle (as long as you don't stick it on your fingers Wink [;)] )

By the way, could you ask EG about the Millenium Falcon we've been discussing on this thread? Someone's interested to buy it. Last I remember it was really reasonable eh. Thanks.

Me too sm but as I inquired, there is no more kits available.

The last kit I saw was in EG Ruiz's shop in Katipunan. The shop's not around anymore but maybe you can ask EG or some of the guys at BAC to help. I told him before I would buy it but unfortunately, I was short of cas (as usual) Sigh [sigh]

Sa tingin ko di naman promote ng IPMS manila STC na parang nasa payroll kami ni Mr. Chua. E paborito lang talaga ng other members yun STC. Like me if someone asked me where to buy a kit i'll send them to STC. Because i like buying kits and paints there and if there's a problem with a certain product that modeler Y or X then it's up to him to complain to the owner.

For example if i have a complaint with an employee at a foodchain resto would i go to someone who knows the manager personally? Or go to the person whom i heard that he knows the owner? No. I'd go directly to the manager and complain about a certain employee or product.

Hi Cbrain,

You are right, we have no power over them, I personally have no intention to promote stc, as i can remember it started when someone ask where she/he can get a so so model and in my eagerness to help a fellow model to source out his/her dream model, that the time stc was brought to this forum.

Everybody is promoting everybody, stc, lils and jmn right?

Anyway, if anybody have a complain they can e-mail the story-owner at their e-mail address previously posted here.

To all happy modeling, see you all at IPMS Phils (BAC) October national.
