What can I say, I am a glutton for punishment. I am gonna blame Greg for encouraging me. Lol. Just kidding, Greg. I would have done this build on my own. It was already on the docket.

Laughing, and so true. But you know... this kit comes with a skeleton. If Timmy catches wind of that, it could be fodder for a whole new mascot. Lol.   Thank you for posting, Capn. It is good to see you follow here. It's kind of a strange build I am doing but I think it has the potential to be very cool.

Update: I worked on the power plant today. I am scheming on how to turn a V8 engine into something more like a Nimo (Nemo) power plant. I am afraid we are in for more fiber optic and probably some greeble. This build will have a fairly large amount of lighting effects. Or least, more than what I usually do. 

I don't know how anyone of a certain age is not instantly triggered with momories of those "art" kits.  Many of us built them, to lesser and greater (usually lesser) success. (Rommel's Rod, anyone?)

We have so many great resources to pour over, now.

There is an entire genre of "hot rod" videos on YT, too.  So, refence photos of lown nitro injected engines is just a click or two away.

As modelers we have more resources, too.  Like not having to rely on ancient vinyl tires when we can case resin ones.  Or the whole aftermarket scene in car model engine bits and wiring & plumbing kits.

So, bring on Timmy's skeletons, ridgemaster, I'm not afraid!

Also, well said. I had seen a Boot Hill Express where a person used aftermarket mags, and it looked incredible. Even for my build, I was just looking at ordering some multicolored Leds and wow, they look so cool how they alternate colors. They are exactly what I am looking for. I will be ordering some for the power plant. To your point, there are so many options now.

I recall a unique feeling whilst building these sorts of kits. I'm eager to try one and see if that 'spell' comes back. I doubt it, and I wonder if anyone can associate with what I am trying (not very successfully) to convey?

Hmm, I'm wondering if giving the engine block a coat of all clad natural metal, then shootiing the final metal color paint over that would give that extra-clean restored hot rod block look.

Hot rod engines need a whole rack of metalic colors any more.

Mind, this build will want some woodgrain painting, too.

Once again, we think alike. There are a number of kits being released on Model Ts to old  time Fire engines. For the first time I have been thinking about buying some before I miss the boat and they get phased out. I try real hard not to buy what I can't build at the moment but these really intrigue me. Buddy-- you have to buy something and start building! Start a WIP...  that would be a fun one to watch.

Yeah me too. THE RED BARON! That kit was Daniels top selling design. The rest was history after that.

Lol. I hear you about doubting it but try it! But maybe don't do what I do...killing the fun with all kinds of modifications. But, in some weird way, I still have fun. I like fabricating.

You too, Capn. We are thinking similar. I ordered Alclad for this build and I just received it.  The only difference is I ordered two bottles of Brass. I am painting the power plant brass. In fact, much of this build will be brass. Mostly fixtures and such, not all. Nemo tended to use a lot of brass.  This kit comes with a lot of chrome parts. I doubt I will have any chrome on this build. I am looking to build a sort of mid 1800s Nemo creation.

I managed to log on  ( but, for how long?)

I built the "Boothill Express" 4 times back in the day. First time(1974) was straight out of the box. No paint at all!  Second time, I painted it. Third time, I turned it into a slingshot dragster( very cool).

The 4th time, I went off on a kitbash from "heck" ... Heck I says!  I cut the front bench seat off and made the whole front flat. Then I hacked up a 1923 C-cab Ford delivery van and added the cab to the front. Other than the engine, I made it into a very respectable hearse. 

Cant wait to see what you do with yours.

P.S.    there's a YouTube video of the real Boothill Express racing  the Munsters "Dragula" ....  the Boothill Express left it in the dust right off the line. ( I would be scared to drive the Express.... seatbelts ????  Rollcage ???

Hey Tim--GLAD YOU MADE IT. Welcome back from the forum dead. My mobile hearse seems appropriate. Maybe the Boot Hill brought you in? How was the ride? Good ride? Probably bumpy with them stiff springs.

We have to find that video and post it. It's funny you said that about being scared to drive it. I thought the same thing. I mean man-- you are out there!  LOL. Don't roll it--don't fall off of it. A roll cage would be nice for sure.

When proven there are no leaks. Wash gently in Soapy water. When done Rinse in very Hot water. Let drain and dry overnite.

       Next day finish the rest of the model. With one exception. take a short plastic Tube or box, Clear, and support the center of the bottom. ( This also takes the weight off the suspension.) Add treated water and one Siamese Fighting Fish. Yes, There is more room in there than in the little round containers they live in at the pet shop.

      Plus what a unique way to one, Keep your fish from getting to big, and two, a totally super neat enclosure that no one would expect!

Like the accessory brackets were chromed, and the attached parts was various shades.

Now, for the life of me, I can't remember if the exhaust header & manifold were chrome or not.  I want to remeber that they wer, with a gorgeous bluing down near the bend.

Well that's some serendipity. I hadn't planned to build it like the 1:1 but the block being a gold flavor is not what I would have expected. Interesting.

And as for the pipes, you are hitting on all "cylinders," Capn. This is something I am mulling over. I have not decided if I will have any. The vision of this power plant is that it will be a sort of reactor. Fusion, nuclear, other, it is unclear what type ... but Nemo is a mad scientist, and exaust doesn't seem to fit his line of thinking. Anyhow, that being the case... exhaust pipes are probably not on the docket. Now Capn. If you can guide me how a reactor might need some some sort of venting... maybe I can still encorporate something. Btw. If I had planned to do exhaust pipes, bluing would have been a must!

Oh, PS: The winter weather you guys had weeks back is making my life at work a living h e l l. Apparently, resin is manufactured in Texas and when swaths of Texas lost power, large vats of resin had been ruined. This translates to massive shortages, and massive disruptions in all things plastic to the electronics industry. We are seeing delivery delays of three months or more. I am pulling out what little hair I have left. It not a good time to be in the electronics industry. Add COVID and shipping delays... egads man.
