Bakster

Masking/painting on stain went without a hitch. I painted the bracing/frames with a mix of Alclad steel and Alclad brass. The ceiling is glued using Tamiya Orange cap and with a good slathering of sprue goo.

I made the lightcage out of hobby wire. That was tricky but perseverance won the battle.

I will probably mount the guns and gun housing tomorrow.

Ceiling is definitely worth clicking on to see it bigger. Nice. Yes

The roof assembly is essentially complete. The only thing left to do will be to make the hood that goes over the power plant. I will wait to do that once when I get the engine mounted.

As much as I liked the pristine metal finish, it would not be fitting for a weathered model. I sprayed the metal pieces using a similar formula of Testers Dullcote with a drop of white mixed into it. On its own the Dullcote tones the pieces down but by adding a small amount of white it sort of provides a dusty look. With this piece staged in a dusty desert environment, I like it. Once I get to the undercarriage, I might use a drop or two of sand color. What I like about this is that it adds the color subtly and it can be built up.

The stack and gun housing is secured using CA.

I will set this piece aside and move to working on the carriage. The carriage will take some time, so I expect it to be slow going. There is a lot of work to do on it to make it presentable and to incorporate some of the things talked about earlier on.

End of update.

Oh that's cool! I love the metallic look you're got on the stack and the turret and the wood look on the inside of the roof is looking really good! Heart

Some of the local birdlife on our back deck. The larger red and green birds are King Parrots and the smaller multi-coloured buggers are Rainbow Lorikeets. I hope you enjoyed the pics mate.

Hey Dodgy--where do I begin? I love the images you posted. How cool to see parrots as local birdlife? And what a cool view you have from your deck! And what an awesome looking beach, river, and lakes. You are a lucky man, mate. It looks gorgeous! I want to move there.

So if a person wants to swim off that beautiful beach-- would I get gobbled up by sharks? In my meager knowledge of Australia, I recall hearing of a great white problem.

And yes, I enjoyed seeing them. Thanks for sharing them.

Btw... I love your tag line. Lol. I too want to see a world where chickens motives are not questioned for crossing the road. Wink

You are wise. Nemo added technology to track movement. It's rudimentary but deadly in its effectiveness. No worries though--it is not armed. I made sure of that. Beer

After a week of doing nothing on this I dived in. It felt good to do. I know this is basic stuff here guys but hey--it makes me feel like I am accomplishing something.

Off the bat it bugs me that there is a huge void beneath the flooring, and it is viewable through the doors. That won't do, it looks stupid.

I filled the void using Evergreen Styrene Strip.

I installed the floor. Like with most things on this model the fit is wonky. I had to glue one section at a time until dry then by using a clamp here and there-- I got it straightend out.

Few points to make.

1. Installing the seat pedestal started nicely. I thought, "Hey! Look at that! It's a nice fit!"

The joins fit perfectly so I glued it in place. Then I had an epiphany. Um, please check the seat looking front to back. I remembered seeing a YouTube build where the builder installed it crooked. Sure enough-- it is crooked. So, if you install the piece aligning the joins flush, you'll get a crooked seat assembly. I made the necessary adjustments, and in the end some join work will be required. Too bad too. I was ready to celebrate something fitting correctly. Tongue Tied

2. I may just yet have something to celebrate. I have found that the frame can be easily installed by sliding it into position and it has nice connection points. What this means is that I can build the two assemblies separately and install them at the end. This will simplify assembly/painting. Fingers crossed.

Sammie Cat resting after a hard day at the office.

That's a lot of chrome. This build is a no chrome zone.

Super Clean to the rescue...

I started work on the frame. At some point you will see me shortening the axle. To make the car cool they extended the axle outwards. That is a no joy for this build. To me the wheels look like they are about to run off the axle. Nemo nixed the concept.

This image shows it well.

Thus this ends another Bullion Express update.

Later.

Greg

Nice, leisurely Sunday afternoon read, thank you. Bow Down

Just for you, Buddy.

Hey, I was meaning to tell you. I was lazy one day and I didn't want to get my camera, so I used my camera phone to image some of this stuff. I am fairly impressed how well it worked for this. The phone focused well, and fairly close to the subject. The exposure is close too. I'd say the two drawbacks is lens distortion and the camera tends to pump color. The latter is not a big deal because even with my dedicated camera I have to post process. The distortion might at times become an issue but for GP imaging, should be good enough.

Speaking of leisurely Sunday. I am currently outside, reclined, refreshment at hand. The heat finally broke for us. Almost cool out. It's a good day to relax.

Isn't it amazing? I know we are both camera techies (me, a no-talent techie but a techie nonetheless). I find myself using my phone camera almost exclusively. And I was the biggest 'phones are not cameras' snob there was.

My latest golly-gee thing with my phone camera is the close up (not quite qualified to call macro or micro) is so good, I find myself taking pics of stuff I can't see with my bifocals to read small print. Darned things are so convenient. Even snob-Greg can learn given time.

Heat broke here too, I think it is below 90 now. Big Smile Have a nice gulf breeze going to keep things pleasant though.

Glad you had a relaxing hang around the yard day. Those can be the best.

Yeap, my phone has a better camera than my camera, I use it for everything these days.

Nice work on getting the chrome off, she's coming right along.
