Wing ribs are all installed.  Now I'm off too Grand Rapids on business and probably won't be home until Thursday morning.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Oh ya.  I had time to put some Christmas decorations and lights up today.

Cheers

It's a Charlie Brown tree available in stores like Rite-Aid for about $10. I bought  bunch  of them last year and gave them as gifts.

The good news......I'm back from Grand Rapids.  Yes

The bad news.....In my haste to quickly finish the wing ribs before I left, I installed the ribs in the wrong locations for the fuel tanks.  (front cell is now in the rear)  Embarrassed Angry

Time to phone in a favor and see if I can get a new set made.  When will I learn?????

Thanks for looking.  Bang Head

Know what? I don't know what the inside of a B-17 wing looks like. So, like many, who's gonna know?
Regardless, fantasic work! Even if you are gonna redo it.

Could try using debonder if you used CA glue.  It will take paint with it as well.

Can't wait for the finished Fort  Eats

If it's Testors then it should come apart easily, if it's Micro-Weld then you are going to have a problem.  That stuff is tough.

Look what I got today!

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i107/LancairIV/Monogram%20B-17G%20Flying%20Fortress/101110Electronics001.jpg

I can turn each light on independently and/or dim, start the engines and run them up, run an IFF sequence, turn the nav lights on, etc, etc, etc.  If I just turn it on with the magnet, it runs a complete sequence.

That is awesome!!  The only way it could be more realistic is if you could figure out a way to make your engines smoke at start up...probably could with all the model railroading gear out there. I have the "visible" B-17 and bought all the PE sets I could find for it. Now I need to find the courage to start it..LOL. I `ll be watching your build with alot of interest....awesome so far!

It will be very interesting to see this finished. You have probably already mentioned this, but what markings do you plan to use on this bad boy?

I wish she was done.  This is the longest I've ever taken to do anything.......

Right now, I was planning on B-17B-20-BO #42-31585 Mount' N Ride......I'm not 100% committed to this, so maybe I could do something different.....I'm open to suggestions.

Today, I was able to fix my screw up by carefully cutting apart what I messed up.  Time to add the navigation lights, landing lights, and motors harness.

I haven't had much time lately.  I've been living in grand Rapids and will be there most of the time this week as well.  Inbetween trips, I decided the fuel tanks looked like crap, so I redid them.  What do ya think?

Yes they did.  Aluminum shell and a rubber bladder.  The black nibs are lock pins of the rubber bladder extruding outside of the aluminum shell.   The pictures below are from the Erection and Maintenance Manual.
