Thanks, guys!

It's the first modeling day I've had in weeks, and boy, did I feel out of practice.  Lost parts, terrifying steps- I guess I made it through- check it out!

Been a while since I've been on finescale.com, so finally had a chance to stop by this thread. The canopy definitely has my head spinning! That's quite intricate work.Yes

Thanks, Kameraden!

Gene, you've got it perfectly. Nothing complicated!

A brief but pithy update- I tried an old balsa trick with styrene- and it worked!

I'm not sure I follow the process for painting the canopy, but let me see:

You used the thin tape to outline where the paint was supposed to go, then fitted the Ed. masks around that?  Afterward, you pulled the thin tape up so you had the lines on the canopy to paint?

And did you do that inside and outside, or just on the outside?  Awesome work!  Lots of stuff to take to current and future projects, although all this means that I'll NEVER finish the current projects!!!

Thanks, gang!

Over the hump and picking up speed.  It's nice to be adding parts to this bale of hay!   We'll get by as long as Hannah can keep the General at bay, right, Hannah?

Anybody know how many man-hours it took to assemble the real-deal Me410? Chuck - any idea how many hours YOU'VE got in on this one now?!?! Beautiful work, really enjoying watching this one,

So Chuck after reading your latest             I was responding when I had a computer glitch/crash/melt down

                                                                                                so I fixed it

Now to you latest GREAT WORK!  I tried to vacuum form a  1/72 canopy once but was successful---just.  Didn't like the stove top burner or oven heating of the plastic both seemed too hazardous or over kill

-After the fact I did wonder about useing my heat gun,now thanks to you, I know I was right and that's  a more controllable way to go.

Also realy like the frame work it's all  going to a grand thing soon

I agree, this is magazine stuff.  It is an incredibly well laid out tutorial.  This build could be published in the whole or even by specific sections.  They are great teaching tools.  Thank you Chuck.  Rick.

Wow, Chuck, I'm just amazed!  Great, great work!  I like your vacuforming rig, I've been looking for the old Mattel set or something similar, but after seeing yours, I think I'll have to borrow that design for my own.

The canopy and the roll cage are just outstanding.  The mag really needs to put this in an issue, when you've finished.

Best regards,

Brad

Thanks, guys!  Glad you like the dot-dealie- it's really effective.  As for Pfennig, he's still lurking in the shadows.  I've got some more egg stuff to show, and I'm back from ComicCon- progress will be made on that verdammt canopy!

I figured you were going to ComicCon; it's been in the news even here in Arizona and each time I heard it mentioned, I would say,  " I know where chukw is!"Big Smile

I took my own trip to southern California earlier in the month, so I've been away from my computer. I was up in Sylmar, then spent a few days in south Orange County, then back up in the Valley.

I'll have to try that dot-filtering myself one of these days. It looks quite simple.

Looks great, Chuck!  I've used filters on some recent projects, and I like how simple the technique is.  I've used it to replicate fading, too.

Can't wait to see what you do with the canopy next!

Sometimes I hate you so much chuck.  As I read your last post im sitting watching comic con coverage on G3, any chance you got caught on camera?

what projects were you working on that you were at comic con before?

and I cant wait to see more of your egg, it seriously looks like a Ma.k design and its looking great.

Thanks, guys!

People have asked me one many occasions about the mysterious dot filter technique, whispered about in seedy backroom bars and the isolated huts of ominous mystics.   All is revealed below- with plenty of pics that, under careful study, will show this useful tool in its natural habitat- Fritzi?

Ahh, here we go.

Canopy seems to be giving you a run for your money. Chuck, You sir, have the patience of a saint! I would have sent something at the wall by now.

I really like the artistic touch, seeing Fritzis reflection in that last shot.
