Me410 A-1: To The Finish! 11/7/10

you kidding Chuk Spring is already here in Da UP! No snow out front with it being in the 50's daytime and 30's at night.

I've been working my tail off for the last two weeks and am beat.  I've gotten a wee bit of modeling in, but not enough to do a real post, so Fritzi has kindly volunteered to model her new shorts.  Take strength, oh friends in cold places- spring is coming!

When I lived in Van Nuys and used to visit my girlfriend and her folks in Orange County, I used to see the Goodyear blimp quite frequently driving along the 405--either in the air or sitting on its pad by the 405-110 junction.

Thanks, guys!  I made the doors in styrene to insure a good, solid bond.  Plastic welds to plastic, but CA has weak joins and will pop right apart under shear stress.  The last thing I want to bugger around with is constantly fixing little bitty parts.  On my morning drive I was sudden;t struck by regret of not having make the retration horns in plastic as well, like on the tail surfaces.  There's always next weekend, I guess!

A  second point, your "photo-essay" on vacuum forming has clarified for me, more in those photos , than all the texts  I have read to date.      To know my, as yet, only attempt, while not successful (your second attempt looks VERY similar )  was only that ever famous learning experience.    is a good thing.

I was going to ask the same question.  Styrene will adhere to aluminum with some CA (try Guerilla glue brand - incredible stuff)

Thanks, my friends!   Sometimes little found items are the way to go- I'm pretty notorious for picking up weird, shiny things from the sidewalk.  I have boxes of junk bits, little drawers filled with disassembled lighters (full of cool parts)- even razors have interestingly-shaped components.   It's a mania, what can I say?

Don't suppose you'll just whip up a soldered brass frame and scale rivets, then cut individual clear panels to be mounted in the frame to correct the situation---------Nah -----are you????

 

 

He might do just that! And scale locks and latches to lock the canopy in place for flight.

I'd be definitely curious as to how he solves the canopy issue.
