If I have the time! I'm hoping to get some paint on the revell today (canopy interior, and yes, prespray the interior bits for the second one as well... That means order up the Acryls for RLM 79 and 80 for the tropical scheme too...

Thanks, guys, interesting ideas. The division between intake and engine proper is really the junction between the nose part and the trunking parts which carry the starter cones. The perfect solution would have been to spray the nose with the basic camo shade before assembly, that way there would have been a sharp demarkation in the intake throat... I'll do that next time. Another idea just sprang into my mind, a strip of plasticard rolled up and eased into the trunk would spring back and lie against the walls, protecting them, and tissue could protect the rest. if the cone needs a touch up, at least it's accessible. Hmmm... The camo division line falls in the intake region too. Must check refs...

M/TB379

Your WIP photos are very instructional for me.  I'll start my HO after SWMBO and I return from our expedition to visit the outlaws in Memphis.

hot off the enigma wire, from the Parliament buildings in Ottawa via the Maritime repeater:

MOJOs rejoice: Postal workers have been legislated back to work under the "essential services clause" ~ suspicious looking ninja cats seen scampering away from Parliament Buildings ~ mail sorting stations are operational as of this morning ~ delivery expected to resume tomorrow ~ the Ho is in play, repeat, the Ho is in play.

– end transmission –

It may be a trap.

Foam ear plugs might work as masks.

The plugs can be squeezed down to fit the diameter of the air intakes and then automatically expand to plug the hole for painting.

You would, however, need to trim away enough foam to allow for the engine starter housing on the front of the Jumo turbines.

Hope that helps

Some progress to report, not much but a liminal moment...

Yes, masks are on... The wheel masks fit perfectly, but the compound curves of that unique canopy rather defeated Eduard's computer. The fit of the canopy pieces was poor and had to be tidied up with strips of tape, exactly as if I wasn't using masks... Which I could have done weeks ago. Hey ho, I'd still have needed the wheel masks.

Next step, spray the canopy interior gray, which as it's the same gray as all the interior bits really prompts me to open the second kit and prespray all the parts at the same time...

The intakes are a pest, I can see no way to protect the aluminium engine areas and spray the intake cutaways as part of the camo scheme. I'm considering painting them either grey or aluminium... or brush painting them. Anyone have any insights into techniques for that area in this scale???

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Outstanding, MOJO...maybe silly putty in the intakes could serve as a mask...

Luckily the overlord takes the weekend off!

It's part of his contract.

I believe it's called a " sanity clause" .

Am I the only one that sees a mild resemblance between the Postal Official and our fearless leader. We may need to do a top secret switcharoo! Cool

No.  Aaron looks more like Jim Garner. Devil

Not Aaron, he's the mighty overlord of the Forum. I was referring to our friendly neighborhood Field Marshall.

Should we even be mentioning Aaron's name?  Perhaps HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED (HWMNBN)? Hmm
