Carlos:  thanks for the tips.  I use a single-action AB and will fiddle with a double-action sometime in the near future.  I usually paint large areas at about 20 psi and camo stripes/patterns at about 10-15 psi.  I use MM enamels thinned 50/50 with Testor's Thinner (red can).

I'm not building a Ho, although watching your build has made we want to, I'm part of the ground-support Rabble.

Again, Awesome (an over-used term, but appropriate in this situation) result with your Ho.

I tried to use my double action and could not get it to work right,,,,,it kept spurting out vreating spiders....I guess the trick to working close to get a fine line is real thn paint....keep the tip from clogging..MM enamels are not that bad but their Acryl line....man, that stuff clogs up REAL nice..

I started with thinning with laquer thinner...about 1 part paint to 3 thinner....real thin mixture.....set the compressor to 15 to 20 psi.....started there but adjusted as I went along ....since i used my single action I closed the needle all the way then tested....turning the needle out a bit at a time and slightly adjusting the finger pressure....with the low psi I was able to depress the trigger just a bit to get the flow going then slowly depress more until i got a slight stream of paint....took a while thats why I found it important to keep the paint thin so it doesnt clog the nozzle....once I got the flow right and control of the trigger then I started at the center of the spot and worked out. the low pressure allowed me to work real tight to the surface...1/4 to 1/2 " off it.....didnt take too much practice....the toughest is controlling the finger pressure on the trigger and depressing a little at a time..again the low psi prevented from "spidering"

give it a try....you might surprise yourself like I did...I had to touch up a wing tip towards the end ,after decaling, close to the white tips and didnt have a problem repeating the procedure...in fact I didnt even mask off the white and worked right up to its edge and cross decal without overspray.....now the spots are not perfect edged...there was and still is some overspray....what was real noticable a touched up with the sandgelb with almost a drybrushing...a bit wetter than regular drybrusing if that makes any sense.....then a coat of dull cote blended everything together nicely....that also helped to tone down some of the overspray...

Carlos:  What psi setting did use on the compressor and what was the thinner to paint ratio?  I want to steal pickup all useful info I can.

Absolutely stunning -- and to freehand the camo is more than impressive, it speaks to considerable skill! I'm planning on these markings for a 1:72 but I'll be stenciling the spots for sure.

Glad to know my memory is not that bad. I thought you did it that way...which makes it even more impressive.

well....since we are also closing in on the end of the "Operation" I figured it was as good a time as any to complete the spotted Ho....so here you go.....oh and maybe this will inspire Vance to get his chapstick Ho completed...

I grew up in Medford MA, a suburb of Boston.  I tell you, Tornadoes are EXTREMELY rare in that area.  Usually the worst we got was severe thunderstorms and blizzards.
