Well.. I'm out..
The "Von Hammer" Bf109 is junk.. I got a massive dose of silicone-contamination with the paint, resulting in thousands of little "Fish-eyes" on the finish... I don't know what happened, or how (I washed the model to remove any mold-release), but the thing isn't worth saving... In order to remove th piant, I'd have to sand all the surface- details off, since niether brake fluid or Simple Green will remove it..
*sigh*
I might build the Monogram Bf109E in order to finish the GB, but at this point, I'm too disapointed to care..
Another update. Slowly but surely.....
John
Thank you Reasoned... I love the paint that you did! Beautiful build!

Then Sell It Back At $2 Bucks A Glass...
Great job Rigidrider and Reasoned!! Will update the front page with those birds!
Scale Plastic Aircraft Modeler
Very nice winter scene109 Rigid, I bet it brings back memories of the Russian front for Manny.
Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom. Peace be with you.
On the Tarmac: 1/48 Revell P-38
In the Hanger: A bunch of kits
Nice!
Awww ga head... plenty of time left!
Shes done... Love the 109...
Awesome builds guys!!! (makes me want to do another)
This the Revell Bf 109G-10 kit done as Feldwebel Horst Petzschler's Bf 109G-10 " Yellow 5". It's a VERY nice kit, canopy is a little problematic but overall an easy fun build.
Starting the paint, Using modelMaster Violet Grey with a few drops of flat white, and a standard light blue (also a few drops of white added) underside.
Manny - you can see the one I'm working off of in the first WIP pic. Apparently Eagle Strike's take (the one I was going with) was considerably different than the Cutting Edge interpretation!
Thanks again, fellas.

jgeratic1 There's a couple b/w photos(not the best quality) here of Peter Bremer, 2/JG 54. Also found this colour plate: Cutting Edge Modelworks version; Seems to be a variety of interpretations, not just colour but mottle style as well. regards, Jack

I'm not seeing the fine spots and detail in the pics as depicted on the model (looks almost like SS camo)but, hey, its cool anyhow...JG54 was notorious for odd schemes and colors...
dupes
Dupes!!! Uhh, wow!! That's a great choice of camo, think it's safe to say I've never seen that one. And if it was a "cover up the splinter" situation, they likely did that at the front with whatever brushes they had access to - airbrushing may not have been as realistic anyway. That one is a beauty.
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
nice job Marc.. !

Dupes... Very cool paint job! Never seen any one do that one before. Nice!
Awesome job Dupes!! Love the paint job on that one, fixed the front page too!!
Dupes... Freakin' SWEET! That's one of the coolest 109 paint jobs I've seen! Where did you get your inspiration? I've got several books on 109s and have never seen that type of scheme before!
In terms of the roughness of the paint (sure can't tell in pics) I wonder if after you painted it if you could have used a really fine grade emory cloth or something to knock down the roughness? Just a thought... Either way, looks killer! Well done!
On the Bench: Tamiya's 1/48 A-10a Thunderbolt
In the Hangar: Hmmm???
As far as I know, that's the "look" they were going for - the ES decals mention them wanting to cover the splinter up with "more seasonal colors".
dupes - that is a striking finish! I agree, doing that scheme with a hairy stick would be the sane choice. Is it just me, but does it remind anyone else of SS autumn camou?
Fellas - sorry for my absence and lack of updates...things get busy around here during the summer, and I'm SOOOO bad at taking pics as I go along once I get on a roll.
Recap: this is the Hasegawa BF109F-2 kit in 1/48 using Eagle Strike Decals (Barbarossa I, if I remember correctly). The 5-colored mottle is hand painted. I didn't think I'd be able to pull it off with the airbrush...nor be able to handle a 5? 6? hour paint session while doing it. Overall, I like how it looks, although the finish is not smooth due to the thickness of the paint. On the shelf it's fine, although I think in a contest I'd lose some points. Built out of the box with some Tamiya tape seatbelts (per IPMS rules). First pic was posted up a while back to show the scheme I was going for, followed by the result.
Hope you like!
Pzl66 - don't believe I ever got added to the front page when I joined.
Little bit more... I think I'm going to change schemes and do a winter camo paint this time.
Exelent model you made there!
Boy I long back to the Tamiya 109 E I built, this ICM has the absolute worst fit I have done in a long time :-( It will take loads of filler and sanding to get the gaps OK and I am NOT a fan of either.
See the non-matching shapes of the wing and root fairing?
Neither does the firewall fit remotely well.
This is going to be like pulling teeth!
Theuns
5 months after starting I finally have something worth showing ...
I quite pleased, especially considering this is my second model. Yay
OK... Gonna start a second build, This one is an older (80's?) Hasegawa "Emil" I found at a swap meet. It will be semi fictional, Being from JG2 ,France , 1940. Markings will be fictional,
On a little family R&R for the next week and a half, got the 109 pretty much painted (doesn't look like the way it should but not too bad) will finish the decals up and post pics in a couple of weeks, carry on and see you then!
Oh! Reading some great books here in FL, just finished the "Bud" Fortier book on the 8th AF, working on "Unbroken". Later fellas.
Very Nice! Killer detail.
