handiabled - Hermann is far too rough on you, that 109 looks great! I'm loving the cam splotches, you see a lot that have edges that are too "loose" but yours look nice.
satch_ip - paper? seriously, those were paper models?? And knee surgery - what are you going in for?
Manny - no Hasegawa "Wick" a/c in my stash. I've got a Tamiya E4/7 in the stash, don't recall the markings options there though.
Geof - Don't let that Zvezda kit beat you buddy!

Manny, as a matter of fact I do have the E-4 Wick boxing along with a few others. I am building the Cyberhobby 1/32 E-4 for this group build. It does have markings for Wick's plane, but I don't think I'll use them on this build. Did a Tamiya E-4 in his markings already.http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae122/tucohoward/107_1482.jpg

I'd be glad to buy or trade for those Wick markings....PM me...

 Nathan T:

Looks good Geof. All I got is both your ailerons are drooped, one should be deflected up, opposite the other...noticed all those MM acrylics on your bench, man, how do you use those? I've had troubles airbrushing them.

Sh!t... Dropped the wrong two. No way I can undo the inner cooler flaps. I'll have to raise the outers and just let the center stay down. Good catch, I'm glad someone caught it this early. I've built enough of these I should have realized it!!! Thanks!

As far as the MM's go... I don't use them much anymore. I'm leaning back to enamels and Tamiya acrylics. I've had mixed luck with airbrushing the MM's. The newer MM's aren't bad. I've found that tamiya's thinner seems to work best. I know lots of people use windex, but I haven't tried it. The biggest trouble I have the MM's is the finish is hard to get smooth. The only way I've found to get this down is to thin the mm's WAY down and do many thin coats. Results may vary...

Hey Guys!!    Both 109's comin along!!   Keep the wip pics comin,,   I haven't started number two yet,, I wanted to let you know that Humbrol over MM any day!!  I'm a pretty big user of MM myself,,  I pretty much follow up with Future to get a consistant finish to lay down decals thats the way it's worked for me. Been getting into the Humbrol line more and more,,,, it just lays down soooo nice,,,   Yes

Add some wings... a few little bits, some glue, some putty, and what do you get? A BF-109 in WHITE??!! primer?

An idea I have for a "scale effect" color wash... we'll see how it comes out... on to some pre-shading in dark grey and then color!

Ok fellow trump 109 builders, Im going to be starting my prized 1/32 109 this week and going to need some pointers here. I want to show off the engine so the top cowl will be left off but the bottom cowl I want to leave on is there a fitment issue on the bottom cowl if you put everything on the engine? I keep getting amazed with the models I am buying these days. The models I used to build were no where near in detail like the ones todAy and I give major props to this trump kit with its standard photo etched parts and massive detail. This 109 is as big as my 1/72 B-17! So this kit will end up being hung from the ceiling.

Your building an E vs the F that I built right? ,,,   as far as I can tell you the bottom cowl was no problem on the F but the top cowls all I can say is dry fit ,, dry fit,,, dry fit,,, rinse repeat ,,,,,that goes for the office and machine guns as well,,, If I can help feel free to send me a pm whenever you need to,,, Yes   beware the ejector pin marks on the inside of the cowls,,, I spent a day sanding and filling just to end up glueing the stupid things on,,,,Bang Head of course you only have to worry about one top cowl instead of a left / right deal like on the F...

I got the 75/76 painted on Bar's F before my knee surgery.  I'm about able to mask for the 74 now.

I think I can finish her while I'm laid up.  Just hope the Hydrocodone makes me want to paint pink flowers and yellow butterflies on it...

Fine build there, Handi! Great camo and weathering. I gues 1 32 109s are real popular around here.

Geof- I like the cockpit detail in that Zvezda kit. I'm gettin tired of always havin to scratch build the bulkhead behind the pilot's seat on all my hase. kits.

 pzl66:

Wonderful job Handi!! Cant wait to crack my 1/32 109 box open.. Been pretty busy with work lately but this build is going to put some other on hold for a bit.

Front page updated! Congrats on being the first.

Check page 14 for the first done. I actually was working on the desert G before the build began, finished it then started and finished the other one. Now about 1/2 done with #3.

 Beautiful work Handi!

Ok just PM me the photo you want me to put on the front page for your build.

*******ATTENTION ALL 109 GROUP BUILDERS*******

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, WHEN YOU COMPLETE YOUR MODEL FOR THIS GROUP BUILD, PLEASE SEND ME A "PM" WITH A LINK TO THE PHOTO OF THE COMPLETED MODEL YOU WANT ME TO PUT ON THE FRONT PAGE!!!!

Between work and other group builds along with posts made of models completed in the past that are not apart of this group build used as a reference it can be a bit trick to tell if you are done and the photo is YOUR submitted work. So again when you complete your build shoot me a PM so I can update the info... Otherwise it may be missed and I want all planes showcased to show off the hard work done on these builds and would hate to miss someone....

Other than that, pep talk is done and the airfields need more 109's to hit the runways so SCHNELL!!! Or ze high command will be forced to send you to ze eastern front!!! (Kinds words from Herman)

This Zvezda kit is proving to be a little bit of a challenge. Some tips for anyone building one... If you want to close the engine compartment dont bother putting ANYTHING on the engine block, to include the guns as depicted in the instructions. They aren't in the right place anyway They are offset too far back to fit into the cowls properly, glue them to the back of the cowl pieces to have them look correct. Leave off all of the other goodies as well... the cylinder covers, the magneto etc. otherwise the cowls with not fit. Especially the lower cowl. If you put any of this on, you will just be cutting it off when the cowls go on. In terms of lining up well etc, they aren't too bad. I created my own special hell by building the engine to be partially displayed which has required a dremel tool, creative clamping etc. The wing section looks like a good fit overall with minimal issues though, which is a plus. Check the pics of the preliminary bonding! Toast

Wow, I think I see what you mean, that port MG is set way back from the starboardIndifferent.  Thanks for the heads up, I have that one in the stash but knew just looking in the box it was over my head for now.  You're doing a great job on it!Yes

Looks great HandiBeer.  The finish on that 109 is very colorful, looks like there are multiple shades in the splintering & mottling.

No question for me but 109's are sexy.

Don't know.  It's the one with Werner Moelders on the box art.

I didn't build these but they were at the San Antonio show.

Wow, busy around here when a big GB gets kicked to page 2!!

Finally an update on the F-4 project. But first, Guys! work is looking great! Handi... the paint scheme is very cool and quite unique for a 109.  Nice work capturing it in scale too!
