Also, instrument panels and sometimes radio panels were RLM 66(not flat black or 02), while the rest of the interior was 02 on BoB aircraft

I think Herman looks a little angry about something, oh hold on, whats that Herman?

"Das motor ist verboten legen über boden!!"

So its supposed to be on an engine stand while working on it?

" Jawohl gruppe leiter!!!!!"

Had both a couple of good days as well as bad days, depending on your perspective. Got the plane together, painted and decaled. Shot a coat of dullcoat on everything, fuselage A-okay, wings, oh no! For some reason the decals wrinkled and I had applied them first. Kinda luck in the sense I have spare wing decals but no those for the fuselage.

An update, not what I was planning on it being but Im just going to keep going with it. Was looking at doing it mostly white but then it would look too white for my liking. Still have alot of work on the paint.

Again Im doing a fictional paint scheme here so so obviously this will not be historicaly correct just something to my liking.

It's the Monogram pro modeler issue of the 1/32 hasegawa (sic?).Pretty basic kit, nothing special except for a pair of resin tires & wheels. The decals are from Eagle Cal and so far I give them a thumbs down for ease. Still don't understand why they lifted when I dull coated the wings. The fuselage didn't do that and the wings had an extra day to dry too. Overall I will give them a thumbs up for subject matter. John

Alright gang, been doing some research on the F-2/4 trop I'm going to be doing. It seems there is some crossover in the wheel well thing. Ive seen a couple of walkarounds of F-4 trops with squared off wheel wells and I've seen others with circular wells. All the G series have squared off wells. I don't have an underside shot of the specific aircraft I want to do so I'm torn. On one hand I'd like to keep this build without too many complications (rounding off squared wells) and just keep it squared or do I go with the fix?

Do what I do when this is an issue...

Fasten it permanently to the base... Wink

We have the F-4 squared wheel bays as well ( Herman is plenty pissed at me ) I'm gonna try putting a dress on a pig and throw the Eduard "fix" on it along with some mods........ we will see..............Confused

Got my wings repaired, like I said it only ruined the decals on top, so I only had to re-do the tops. Also added a couple of photos showing the scratch detail drop tank mount. I am not going to add the tank, but want it to look as if it could be at any moment or mission. The leather covers in the wheel wells I copied form a picture of a walkaround on a G4, copied it to photoshop, enhanced some of the colors and printed on clear decal paper (on a side not, is there anyone making a THIN clear decal material to print on? The stuff i got is as thick as a sheet of paper when applied and leaves a very distinctive step. I had to use this on one of my "no Step " decals.) Also with this one the weathering is going to be kept at a more subdued level than the last one.

This kit was a "parts kit" , one where I had scarfed the decals and canopy for another build. Ended up ordering aftermarket decals and a vacum formed E-4 canopy that I had to modify to look like the G-4 one. Thus this build was/is at a disadvantage. Today I pulled the trigger on a Eduard BF109E-3 Profipack that comes with all the things I like (wish I had those canopy masks with my first one). So, once this one is finished I will likely start on it. I've had no luck with Airfix supplying parts missing from my old 1/24 kit.

Herman might just have to get over it! Which eduard kit are you referring to? I just started the engine and I am going to add a fuel rail. I noticed the directions are a litte off too with regard to versions. I'll post more on that later. So far this is a really cool looking little kit. Are you going to keep the tail stabilizer/strengthener tabs? Once again I've seen 4's with and without.

He will eventually,,  I went with the Eduard EU32268,,,, from the looks of it gives pretty good help with rounding the bays,, I'm not sure about the tabs as well,, the control surface "ribbing" is way too pronounced everywhere as far as I'm concerned,,,so I'm going to mellow that out a bit,,,Heres the instrument panel "pre" weathering.........................more to come,,,,love to see some pics Geof,,,,

Wow! I can't say that I've ever seen anyone do that before! Where did you find the photo to work from for the covers? I've seen them before of course, but never at a good angle to try to duplicate...

I used the photo that is here: http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/index1024.htm  There is enough there that I was able to cut off both ends and use the center in Photoshop. Then I cloned it to either size to get a larger section. Once that was complete I tried to size it to fit the wheel well. Looking at it now I may have gone a little small but since I still have the artwork I can enlarge it a little, may even do the current ones over.

No Pics yet, I literally just put the block together last night. Hopefully the next few days. The Big Ed kit looks interesting, I need to decide where I want to take this and if scratch is the way to go. I can definitely see some real planning for painting, and the overall display with regard to engine options. Pics as soon as this little clump of plastic gets some color!!
