Scratch-built pitot tube with micro tubing in 72?! Wow! And it turned out good.
Thanks guys, I will be free handing wherever possible from here on. I'll happily leave the filter off.
The pitot is dead easy to make, takes less than 5 minutes
You just need to different thicknesses of Microtube, one to fit in side the other. It's available in brass so its easy to cut cleanly with your modelling knife. Drill a hole in the wing leading edge to accept it, then fit the thinner piece inside the thicker piece to the correct length. Fit the whole thing into the hole you drilled and fix it all with CA.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
What a job! The paint came out great!

That coin came from collection, would that be something if it did come in the kit! Though some people might find it "offensive"..
Ye, now i think about it, it might not be a good idea to put things like that in models. Given that Swastika decals are banned in many places, this would cause a real storm.
Could you please put me down for a Hasegawa 1/72nd 109G-6/R-6. I will be starting it after my Ju 87 and Fw 190, so should be in March.

Love those yellow nose 109's!! Looking good pzl66!

Ok, this may not be a wise thing to do since I have 3 Fw 190's I'm working in another GB. But is this GB a on going GB? I have a revell G-10 I'm thinking about starting .

Hey John. This one has hit the end of the road. However you can look for one next year for sure. I was talking to pzl66 about a GB for next year because Eduard is coming out with their G series 109's in 14.
I went over there and signed up already, I have a ta152 can I use that for the defenders of the reich group build? I guess that begs the next question does the term "defenders of the reich" involve only certain versions of 190's?
As far as I'm concerned, 109's & 190's should be perpetual GB subjects......... just saying.

Is the build still going on? Its been over a year since my last 109. Been building a 1 to 1 scale Cobra Daytona over the interim. I am working on the Trumpeter 1/24 scale 109 G6 early model for the last few weeks. Saw a lot of nice write ups on what was in the box, but not on built ones. May look nice in the box but sure is a PITA to build. Cowls don't fit right, the air intake is shaped wrong, incorrect head armor in the cockpit, lots of molding marks in conspicuous places and although the detail is fine and to scale, it is easily lost when even lightly sanded which I had to do at the fuselage seams. Plus the plastic is brittle, hard to remove the little bits at the sprue, requiring a bit more putty to correct then I would like to use on a true quality product. That said, I am still going ahead on it but the engine will not be displayed and those hokey wheel strut springs won't be used either. 464474 done season.html
