I use E-Z Line from Bobe's. Very easy to use as it is elastic and seems to attach instantly with a little superglue. They have two thicknesses. I prefer the thinner, even on 1/32 scale. The insulators are white glue and the cones on the E-4 are made from the lids of those little condiment cups you get at fast food places. I heat them over a candle until soft and then poke them with a toothpick forming a cone which can then be cut out. Hope this helps.

Hey Tuco,
I've got some of the same stuff that he let me have about 6 years ago that I'm going to use for mine. I used to deal with him (Mike Bobe) all the time when he was in Dallas working at Phils Hobbies in the 90's. That stuff works awesome doesn't it? Works great for control cables in 48th scale stuff too. I must say that your 109 is sweet man.

Ok all. This is the final photo of the plane with the paint all on prior to gloss coat and decals. It's taken forever but had a couple of screw ups to fix.
Herman and I agree ,,
Good job mustang! Finished mine last night. Just need to figure out what I am supposed to do with the pictures of the finished product.
Thanks you guys. Tuco....hope to see the pics soon. Man I forgot how long paint jobs take!! It seems like I have been painting forever. I think the end is in sight now though.
Here is the finished product.
That.......is one beautiful ride Tuco. I'm not much into the E's but this is awesome! I really like the weathered effect. I do have a question. How do you get the streaks on the bottom of this thing. I plan on doing that with mine. I know its a wash and all but was wondering about the technique.
Fantastic Tuco, flat out beautiful.
Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom. Peace be with you.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the kind words. Mustang, I am not sure which streaks you mean, but I can explain my painting/weathering method. I prime with MR. Surfacer 1200 and then preshade the panel lines and nooks and crannies with black. Spray the color coats allowing some of the black to just barely show through. Apply decals and flat coat. I still use the old Francois Verlinden method wash of raw umber oil paint thinned with turpenoid. Apply over all surfaces, let dry briefly, wipe off 99% of it with an old T-shirt. The wash does seem to soften and blend the colors. For exhaust stains I use tube water colors.
Thanks Tuco. I just finished applying the gloss coat today. Should be decaling by Tuesday and applying that wash you were talking about after that. So far so good.
Tuco: Thanks for the info on antenna wire. I might give that a try.
Cheers,
Stoutfella

Randy, I don't know about the others too much but mine is a 1/24 scale Trumpeter kit. Speaking of which this is the latest picture that I have that I took on Thursday with most of the decals on.
Let's see some more Schmitts boys!!!
Greetings,
As I'm taking a 'break' from the floatplane/seaplane group build after being beaten into submission by a recalcitrant Kingfisher, I'm turning my attention to Tamiya's 1/48 BF109-E3. It'll be pretty much out of the box, with a little help from a set of Eduard canopy masks and PE seat belts and a set of Aeromaster decals.
Obligatory sprue shot:
I'm doing the ride of Oberstleutnant Hans-Hugo Witt of JG 26 in April 1940:
Some cockpit shots:
Yeah, I know there's a big mold mark on the seat, which I didn't notice until after painting, but those seat belts should be in today's mail and I'm figuring they'll cover it. If not, a little filing and touch-up will be in order. More to come.
Stout... Very nice thus far! I'd love to do another right now but at the time, I'm getting ready for a show at the LHS and hope I have the time to get one done for it. Please keep the pictures coming! I have almost the same one in my stash and its hard not to crack it open...Maybe soon. Heck, why not a Bf109 GB part 2?

Yes, why not?

Seat belts arrived. The tiny Eduard PE stuff is pretty darn finicky to work with, but I'm pleased with the result:
Fuselage buttoned up, wings attached and just about ready for paint. These Tamiya kits practically fall together. Before you realize it, you've got the thing assembled and realize you've forgotten to take pictures.
After a disastrous experiment with rattle can auto primer on my last aborted build, I ordered some Mr. Surfacer 1200 to use for priming this puppy. I'm eager to see how it turns out.
Reasoned, Mustang, Just keep me posted ! I'm game for either or...
Stoutfella, beautiful work man.

Stoutfella.....I meant to say this in an earlier post. That is a nice 109 youre building there! Good work on the interior.
I'd be game for an FW-190 build starting sometime next year. And thanks all for the kind words. I'll be posting more tomorrow.

Stoutfella and Rigidrider. I was wondering what I was going to build next and you guys just help me make my mind up. FW190 it is. I didn't mean to push January so hard so I'll leave it like this. Does January coincide with you all's schedule? Lemme know and we'll schedule a build. Be cool, Joe
Excellent work stoutfella!!
Sorry for the long absence from here guys, work and other builds have been keeping me busy!
Question though, next BF109 GB do you guys want it to be a limited run or an no end date GB??
