Good idea, Dre. The more I look at it, the more black it looks, but testing it out first seems like a sound plan.

Hard to say what color that is, Oddman.   It could be black or a very dark green...  If I were to do that scheme, I'd lay out a test card with both options to see which combination looks better.   Tamiya's Nato Black might be a good choice here.

The show must go on, eh? That being said, I should be getting off to the LHS to get paint, hopefully over the weekend or so. In the mean time, I'd like to select a paint scheme for my MiG-21. I don't really like the overall dark green scheme provided by the kit so I found some others but can't decide, so I'll share them with you!

I'm leaning toward either the first one or the last one....I'm interested to hear your likes/dislikes about them.

picking out camo schemes for others to try is almost as much fun as deciding which kit someone should buy!  ;)  I'm leaning towards the last one Jon.

Dre, I have to agree with you, the 4 tone scheme looks fantastic. That one is particularly attractive based on the color selection.

I've never done a scheme other than the SEA typical of Vietnam era planes so this will be a nice change.

Oddman, I like them all as they're each fairly eye-catching and should stand out in a crowd but for some reason I really like the bottom 4-color camo (maybe because I just did one?).  Get the shading and color modulations right and it would be a stunner.

I'm thinking of something similar to scheme #2 for my Frogfoot.

Actually, the refs. I need are for the armaments that it carries.   Every photo of Archers and Atolls show similar missiles, each with very different paint jobs than the others...  nothing seems to be standard except ''use white paint somewhere".

Remember that Atolls, especially the early models, are cloned AIM-9Bs. They even went so far as to copy stamped/embossed numbers on the fins. So painting an early Atoll is essentially painting one in the same manner as an early 'winder. Just with Cyrillic stencils and no NATO color code warning stripes

That being said, any overall white Soviet Missile with three large black stripes in the missile body is a training round, much like the blue missiles used in the West. 

Ah well lets see what happens in part 4 as I saw missiles on a wing for the fourth part so this could be the ticket. Hope you liked the vids so far.

Yes, Vance, thank you. Myself and my Air Nat'l Guard unit were tasked with setting up a shelter in a town about 3 hours north of here. Spent the past week up there, so I've fallen a bit behind on the modeling.

Glad to help- I was surprised to find the crew in the box myself as Trumpy doesn't even mention, let alone market, them.

To answer your earlier question, yes, I did get that nose cone sorted out.   Slapped a 1/8" shim in there, glued it on and then filled with a bunch of putty.  Sand and reputty, polish.   For a ceiling hanger, it ought to be OK..  it's not going to be a contest-winning effort as at this point I just want it finished.   I have other Flankers that will get more love and attention.

Ah yes Dre I have that kit I didn't realise thanks man, well that should hopefully set the scenc, I got the nose and the "grey bits" whatever they are painted you know the parts on the lerx and tips of the tails.

I'm a bit behind. All modeling operations were grounded due to the storm here last week. I'll play catch up as soon as possible.

Dean-The Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-21MF has 3 or 4 ground crew servicing the aircraft....  PM me if you want mine as I'm not to use them anytime soon.

Wow---that's a tough one....plenty of 48th scale but 32nd ones are hard for me to think of....maybe Verlinden put some out years ago?

I'm basically at the painting stage here but have to make a small but important modification to the Mig29's leading edge. But I need help here I have been looking for figures in 1/32 scale to add around the Mig as I want to have it about to taxi from that run down airfield, I have pilots already but I cannot seem to find any groundcrew, would any of you guys know where I could find such a thing?
