Jay Jay

Off Topic I also live in a tourist area ,Daytona Beach ,and when the economy is down so is the tourism ,hence the jobs are few and far between, maybe somewhat similar to Hawaii.

I'm very impressed with your build so far Toshi. It looks so very complicated and your patience in the assembly of it is paying off.

Yes, I've been to Daytona Beach, and the economy mirrors tourism areas like Honolulu.  Hence my adamant belief is that we need to invest in the next generation.  They are our future.  If we want to be competitive in the global economy, we must invest in our children.  It's like our hobby, if we don't pass down the love of building model kits, this hobby can get or will get lost.

Thank you sir!  It is one of the most difficult kits I've ever touched in my whole life.  Complex is an understatement.  Ultimately, it's a blast assembling this kit!  Jay Jay, thank you so much for always following my builds.  It means much to me.

This really appears to be quite a complicated little kit. I am enjoying watching you build this. Keep it up Toshi.

BK

It is very complicated indeed.  There are times in which I've had to pace myself and step back to get a perspective of where I'm going or even where I'm at.

What continues to drive me is the first lesson I've ever learned from you all; "Just have fun"!  Thank you sir for following my threads, it means so much to me!

That's crazy complex Toshi but the results are going to look incredible.

BTW: Pulled out my 1/48th Shinden and I don't know how it compares to the 1/32nd kit but it's a pile of detail there.

Thank you sir.  The 1:48 Kyushu Shinden is so detailed from what I can see on the Zoukei Mura website, it's incredible!

Looking great so far, Toshi. Sometimes its a good idea to challenge yourself, and this build certainly seems to be a challenging one. Still however, you seem to be crackin' on with a good steam under you. :)

Hi, friend Toshi -

Too bad about the Arrow, but there is another kit just sitting idle in the box, waiting for you to buy it and build it. When that second arrow is completed and you're happy with it, you will have long forgotten this one that made the "hard landing."

Just excellent work on the jet, actually quite an elegant design and way "out there" for it's time. Looking forward to seeing this one completed. Thanks for the post and photos. Press on, Buddy.

Hi Toshi,

I have been away for awhile, work and family issues are a time a plenty this Spring, and dropped in to see the extensive work on the Horten.  (Why is I what to add "Hears a Who"?)

Man, that is the model of all models and reminds me of a kit plane (Full sized RV4) a friend of mine built.  You will be pround of this model when you are done.

On another note, your story about leaving Hawaii helps me a bit with my struggles with leaving my home state that is also very popular with tourism and vacation homes for the rich and famous.  I was born and raised in Montana, but due to job scarcity after college and family closing the business, took a job in Kansas and am now celebrating my 25th year in this state.

Keep up the good work

Cheers,

Scott

Being inspired by great pro-modelers like you, only drives amateurs like me to try and keep up.

Yes, another one that bites the dust.  You are correct with your comment in that I will replace the Arrow with another build.  I want to personally thank you in your dedicated following of my builds.  I highly appreciate it as well as I am most honored.

Coming along nicely Toshi! Sad to see what happened to the Arrow. Thanks for sharing a glimpse into your personal world as well.  I get the gist of what you mean about good job opportunities for the next generation , I've got one headed to college ,all we can do is prepare them the best we can, cheers Trey

Thank you sir.  Yes, the Arrow was one of my favorite kits as well as a aircraft!  It's my pleasure to always share my world with everyone.  You get to know the modeler as well.  Good luck for your son/daughter going to college, it's a big step to a bigger world.

Yes you know how most normal kits have a 2 piece fuselage?Well this one has multiple sub assemblies that makes alignment kind of a night mare!

Yes, having the frame torque to one side was my biggest fear.  The key word you utilized, aligned is the most correct terminology to describe this process.

Now that that has passed in my favor, the rest of the build is just attaching the clear skin.  Thank you for the read and reply.

It is a strange disservice in a good way that I'm unable to AB the HO 229.  I am so used to AB the completed aircraft that this makes me feel like I'm forgetting something.  I do say in a good way, due to the fact that the frame/spars will be visible, this also includes the Jumo 004 turbo jet engines.

This is the most unusual kit I've ever built.  So far, I can highly recommend this kit.  I normally would have settled for the 1:32 series but due to the extremely high cost, I had to order the 1:48.  What's really great about the way Zoukei Mura engineered the 1:48 kit is that none of the 1:32 details have been left off.  The 1:48 is an exact replica of the 1:32.  Details and all! I wish more model companies would follow suit.

I have decided to stop at this point of the build.  Please view the 229 below.
