Very well done. I like the metal color. Doesn't look like a polished airframe. It looks used. John

Thank you so very much Tempestjohnny, I'm most honored.  Yes!  YES!!!  That's what I am trying to portray, a used airframe.  I didn't want this to look like the ubiquitous NMF.  I was experimenting with different types of paint forum members were using, especially the finishes.

I must have painted three different stains only to cover it up with the original silver chrome enamel as I wasn't satisfied with the outcome.  On my part, it was frustrating at best, but I was able to find just the right tint.

The kit was a joy to assemble though the spruces were too thick in some places in my humble opinion.  Trumpeter did a great job in engineereing this kit.  I was most pleased and am looking forward to more builds from Trumpeter in the near future.  Tempestjohnny, thank you so much for your visit to my thread, I greatly appreciate your reads and replies!

To my fellow forum members,

Thank you for your patience of this build.  Due to illness, I had to stop my building of the Trumpeter P-38 Lightning.  Luckily, I had just a few more items to add to this build of which would normally take a day!  LOL!  In my current condition it took me over a week.  But I finally got it done.

This particular kit has been a joy to build with minimal issues.  As this was a OOB build, I really enjoyed how Trumpeter engineered this kit and many 1/32 kits like it.  I'd really love to see a 1/32 Mosquito kit to compete with the Tamiya Mosquito kit.  I'm sure the Trumpeter Mosquito kit will be significantly cheaper than the Tamiya Mosquito kit.  Albeit with not as much detail as what Tamiya provides.  Still, Trumpeter does an excellent job in engineering their 1/32 kits.

Below are the final photos of my build.  Please view them and let me know how it looks good or bad.  Thank you forum members for visiting my threads!

I think the best feature of this one is the way you chose to display those engines.

One step closer to scratch building your own details. :D

nice one, Toshi. I'm sure it's going to look awesome on the wall of planes(fame :) lol).

sorry, it was just a little punny. ;)

Thank you so very much.  I'm most honored.  I think it will look good on my wall as well.  Thank's for the visit!

Toshi,

I'm loving your progress on this kit. It makes me itch to get to the Pacific Lightnings I have in my stash. Your work is really inspiring to me.

Thank you sir, all I do is try my best although this time around, I'm not 100% yet.  I hope you do get your lightning out.  And don't forget to do a WIP!

Really nice work Toshi, even better since you have been down and out.  May have to get one of those for the stash.  Haven't done a '38 in many a year.

Thank you so very much goldhammer.  Yah, I'm still not at 100%.  I do highly recommend this kit for your stash.  It's fit and finish is superb.  And in your hands ir will turn into a piece of art!

The photos you see above have some OD blackouts of which I was able to do last night and was then able to take photos today.  Later, I'll be working on the munitions (Drop tank & Rockets).  Thank you forum members for reading and replying on my thread!

 To my fellow forum members,

I finally feel better, at least enough to post my most recent addition to the P-38.  I'm not 100% yet and when Mrs. Toshi caught me building this kit today, I got scoldings so I stopped for now.  I'll be able to do some more tonight as Mrs. Toshi finally conceded to my building of kits with the remark she made of which is; "Only for a half hour at a time"!  LOL!

Until then Mrs. Toshi and I plus our grandson and grandsons mom and dad, will be going to Chinatown to eat some Dim Sum.  This will be my first outing in two weeks!

Hi Toshi,

Wonderful work on this P38.  I am glad you are feeling better and got Grandson time.  I too have been out, had to have a hole in my sinus cavity repaired which required teeth to be removed.  Then on top of it, I get a bad bronchial infection.  Now that hopefully we are all on the mend, we can get back to some serious modeling and grandkid spoilingGeeked

Hi ScottRC,

I'm glad things are working great for you in a positive out come.  I'm still nursing my walking pneumonia and am taking it one step at a time.

Looks great!  However, if it's possible you need to switch the props!  They are counter rotating inboard as on the prototype.  Production P-38's rotated outboard (from viewing the top blade from above).

will do after loading up yesterday's photos.
