To iampiper13,

I used a standard Revell hobby saw.  As you can see there's two sizes.  Thanks for the visit!

First, that looks like a heck of a kit, Toshi. And second, you seem to have this one building up VERY well.

Lurking...  ;)

This is one heck of a kit.  I just love Trumpeter's 1/32 kits.  They are so detailed.  As for building up very well, I'm just keeping up with you and other forum members!

Great work, Toshi! I wish I did some cut-a-ways on some models. Would stop my nieces and nephews from asking me "Why do you paint that, no one can see it."Smile

Thank you DasBeav.  I've never done a cutaway before, this is my first.  I just hope it comes out ok.  Thanks for the visit!

Further progress on the twin booms.  I'll be now working on the cockpit.

To my fellow forum members,

I have completed or started something in that I've never done before in my life.  This process has scared the hell out of me!  LOL!  I even included Mrs. Toshi's thought process is on this action.  At first, she was completely and adamant in that she was against me cutting up a hundred dollar model.  Until she saw what I did!  She approved of my thought process.  I was to or had by now, cut out the factory molded cowling out.

My thought process of which I think I'm crazy, action is to show off the engine work that I did.  I had already dry fitted several items and am confident that this cut out will work.  My fellow forum members, tell me what you think of my process and give me your comments.  I'm extremely interested in what you think of this cutout.  Humbly yours,

Toshi

Toshi

Thank you sir!  I could do that, I'll take a look on that tip.  Thank you for that.

Toshi

You're very welcome, my friend. Those engines look great!

Thank you for the comment on my P-38 Lightning engines.  As you can see in the above photo that I had cut open and discarded the engine cowling to show off the work/process done.  It was quite the challenge as I've never done anything like that before in my life.  Disconcerting at best, scared as hell?  Yes!

Cutting up the cowling and hoping that I would get the results wanted was interesting at best!  I hope you continue to follow this build to see where it's going as I might make more changes throughout this building process.

Here, I have sawed off the front half of the cowling.  The purpose of this process is to show off the engine, it's fine details, and the highlights/paint job I've done.

This set up is exactly like the Tamiya 1/32 kits.  Examples like the Corsair, Spitfire, Zero, and the Mustang have this feature.

1943Mike

I don't pretend to have any particular mechanical knowledge but, to my eyes, what you've built looks like a real, working engine with just the right amount of weathering/grime to create that illusion. Fabulous!

WOW, I'm most humbled 1943Mike.  No one has ever spoke about my work in such a way.  Thank you sir.

OH Man, what a great kit  and I'm sure you'll do it proud in your capable hands.

I'm excited for you and will be watching with keen interest.

P.S. Something like this is in my near future now that I've had to get a job,due to          all the repair bills I've had lately...car,boat,house and Dr. bills. but I'll save          some for modeling for sure.

The job is a  cool one though and I don't mind doing security at the Daytona International Speedway. I was actually in the pits for the Rolex 24hr. race the past 4 days, so that's why I haven't been around here as much.

Thank's I highly appreciate your support in this build Uncle Jay Jay.  Sounds like you got a great job.  Good luck!

Here's an F-5 type P-38 getting its enegine checked.

Wow!  That's very cool.  Thank you for the photo of the engine.  I was thinking of opening up the engine area.  I've never done that before so this should be interesting if I plan to actually do it.  It's a scary thought!  LOL!
